Hi man. Sorry that they did not fit your taste, you can't win 'em all right? :) You should take a closer look at our A500 that are soon to release. Here you have a lot more freedom to make them your own and tune them exactly to your personal taste. And they can be a 3-way as well :)
    Keep up the good work!

I guess your review reinforced my tastes: warm, firm natural bass and a bit on the dark side. Perfect.

Joseph Franceski that’s great, hope my review helped you, remember to give it some time to break-in. enjoy the speaker

Just found your channel and appreciate your review! 👍I liked your comment on them sounding dark in the sense of like being in a an acoustically dead recording studio. That kind of echoes Thomas & Stereo's feelings of them having a shorter treble decay and therefore sounding more natural (to him). That's how I interpreted it anyways.. Kind of what I think of when people speak of "dry" sounding speakers. Looking forward to watching your R3 vs Comete vs S400 shootout! All high on the list of interesting speakers to me!

Good to hear somebody else's opinion. I love my S400, but do think it takes careful partnering with AMPs/DACs as well as positioning (toe in/distance). The sound just varies too much - there definitely is a sweeth spot and it is not as position friendly in my room as other speakers I've had (KEF, ELAC, PROAC)yunlike what some reviews say. In saying that, when setup - I prefer the sound to all else I've had. When partnered with holographic sources (ie tubes in pre or DAC) there's layering and depth the PROAC and KEF cannot match. Everyone's opinion and tastes vary, but it is definitely worth a consideration.

Ya, that's what I mean in the video, i do agree the s400 has a lot of depth and layer, but it's just didn't suite me in some ways. As in my comparison video did said, the s400 is different then something like KEF. It's all depends on personal taste haha.

If you like a euphonic, natural, warm and laid back presentation without lacking details and without any listening fatigue whatsoever, then the S400s are the speakers for you.If you like extended and emphasized treble, with prominent imaging and with a forward presentation that will eventually give you listening fatigue, then the S400s are not for you. Also amplifier matching is very important with these speakers.

Refreshing to see some down to earth opinions surfacing, now that the hype train has slowed down on these S400. Good job!
Unfortunately, the TH-cam review community have to ‘play nice’ to get products in for review and that is why user reviews like this are so much better.

Play nice? They were hyped up because they are fantastic speakers. No bull shit. But if you prefer forward and boosted treble then no they aren't for you.

I own these speakers currently, for probably six mths now. I also was hoping these would be my long term speakers but I have a similar views as yourself of these speakers. The only reason I still have them is I think my partnered equipment is possibly letting them down. So until I update the partnered electronics I won’t make the final decision. I just have to work out what they’ll be.

natsts50 what system do you pair them with for now?

Refreshing view indeed! Am still wondering if these are an upgrade over my Dynaudio Contour 1.3MKII...
Powering those with my Van Medevoort MA220, because they also like some power...

Take a look at the Ascend Sierra 2-EX; it may have that slightly "brighter" but not bright, sound that you are looking for. Should be better than the KEF R3.

I own them. They are well overrated. The bass goes low, but there is no punch. So pretty much useless from my point of view. To be honest, kef ls50 were way better. The bass wasn’t going that low, but they were punchy and fast, more precise. I guess this is a hype generated by reviewers...

Mark Donen it was supposed to mention under this video, but I didn’t say it good, so i kind of edited out, I will put it under the description, the gear I use is Denon 3600h > Emotiva A300 & XTZ EDGE A2-300 amplifier , so that I can get an idea for both class AB, and D sounding
