- This was originally broadcast on BBC1 back in 1987. AFAIK, it's never been repeated and it's never been released commercially. There are various versions of this already on TH-cam, but I haven't seen the full show uploaded as a single video before, so here it is.
Unfortunately, when I was recording this at the time, the tape ran out and I had to swap tapes part way through, so there is a very short section missing. The overall quality isn't great as this is ripped from well-watched VHS tapes that are 26 years old.

My wife and I was at this concert thanks to Luther's bodyguard who gave us two complimentary tickets! I was selling watches back then in a shop in Oxford Street London when his bodyguard walked in bought some stuff from me and was kind enough to give two entry tickets! Best concert ever, what a legend.

I have a feeling if Luther, Barry, Teddy, and Marvin we’re still alive, they would still be relevant in the music industry. You don’t hear music like this anymore m nor do you hear old school R&B anymore. I went to three Luther concerts, and I still cherish the memories of the concerts, and of the people I was with.

2024 listener here. Such beautiful memories I have of performing this concert every weekend with my AMAZING mother who sang lead as my niece and I sang backup with costumes etc. What a beautiful to reminisce upon. I just sent this to my mom as I shed happy tears on how excited she’ll be to see this again after so many decades. 💯🥲💕

What I really like about this is how he makes sure his backup singers are just as relevant as he is. Of course he's the lead voice and the star so he's gonna take the shine, but the way they're not in the background as they usually are with other singers but on the same stage as him is so cool and honorable.. plus the way he interacts with them during the performance 😂

Luther Vandross, a hero, a legend, he even sang on Sesame Street for the little children. There will never be another in our lifetime as great as him given the talent that he had. And his background singers both seen & unseen were absolutely fabulous! When Luther Vandross died my nieces called me to see how I was doing, I was absolutely devastated! It was like losing family to me, I coveted his songs, ( if coveting in a good way could be possible), he was just that awesome 👏 ….RIP

I used to watch this Luther concert live over and over again when I was 7 years old and I still stay glued to the screen everything I watch these same Luther concerts as an adult and remain even captivated by dynamic talent and showmanship that only God can bless a man with !!!!!!!! I just watch it last night and will watching it again tonight because I have been his #1 FAN since I was a kid and will always be his 1# FAN .I got a once in in a lifetime opportunity to see him in person right before he passed after one of his biggest concerts at the Chicago Theatre and I never forgot how he rolled down his Excursion window , waved , and gave me the biggest smile from ear to ear after hearing me sing his hit song " A House is not a Home " with all my heart and soul . Wow...Classic...Luther Vandross was blessed by almighty God, will the power of love, song & ability to heal. I've been searching for this video for age's, this sure brings back fabulous memories. My brother Richard & I were there at the Wembley Arena London. This will certainly be with me until my last breath. We we're originally seated back in the middle of the arena, but as Luther started singing, almost everybody stood up & started dancing, we managed to maneuver our way all the way down to the stage, totally amazing. We spent rest of the evening right there, as I remember correctly. Luther bought peace into my life with his pure songs & energy he had it & gave it away, to whomever wanted to listen & be healed. God bless these guys for the happiness & wonderful times. Thanking you for posting...all the very best my friend...Good Health, Happiness, Love, Joy, Freedom & Peace always. Amen.
I went to the Birmingham,NEC leg of this tour (Give Me The Reason) and this is exactly how I remember the show, from Luther's entrance, to his little changes in lyrics etc....so noticeable to me as it was my first ever gig as a 17 year old. Happy days...RIP Luther
