Went to every live show in Texas back when I was in high school. Met the whole crew at a coffee shop after a show one time. Talked to the drummer. I had been drumming myself for a few years. It was like talking to the final boss of my craft. Thanks for the chat Darren.
Theyve said that they do use click tracks. Paul even said it live when i saw them at club nokia. Its also to hear him self and the other members. One thing that a LOT of people dont realize is that they have a bunch of layers, samples, and backing tracks that all trigger and follow very precise patterns that they have to keep PERFECT time with. There is a LOT of work and timing and precision that goes into a mutemath show.
@@SoumitraVichare annoying when people say backing tracks is cheating but it's actually more difficult because the band has to be super tight and on beat for them to stay in sync with the backing track
He dubs with a foot pedal and plays a different beat the next measure or whatever. Still incredibly innovative. I have seen many concerts, and this band is both my number 1 and 2 because I have seen them twice.
This really is an amazing piece of music, held together with an equally incredible, unrelenting drummer that is nothing short of a genius. The drums are the true hero in this, an absolute driving force that provides an incredible groove for the band to jam to. Simple notes on guitars, nice keys, a few electronic effects and a frankenstein guitar. Simple sounding but technically off the Richter. Bloody beautiful.
They remind me of Pink Floyd from their most creative period. Absolutely amazing music. I hope they have the success that Pink Floyd enjoyed for many years.
I listen to so many drummers, and so many of them overplay or overstate a song - this guy nailed the groove and sound of this band - awesome to listen to
god i'm a drummer myself and normally i love listening to guys like Neil Pert, Mike Portnoy, or Carter Beauford. But this guy is just on his own. In fact this whole band is... I really want to see them live because this whole DVD is amazing
I LOVE these guys I've seen/met them 3 times Once in D.C. and 2 times in Baltimore their musical vocabulary not just on Rock but also Jazz is ASTOUNDING!
Music is music, I completely agree. People can attach whatever lyrics they want to music, but music unto itself is detached from the world of religion and politics and everything that goes along with it.
Reset is easily the best track... of the first 3 albums at least (haven't listened to their last 2). Someone already said it, it's so reminiscent of Radiohead's Everything In Its Right Place.
I think he use his headphones for the monitor mix probably without the KLICK - amazing! I´m from Germany - unfortunately almost nobody knows about this great band here. But when I play all CDs or DVDs of them - almost everybody is excited!
That's where I freaking heard this from!! That damn organ melody was killing me like I've heard this somewhere before. Very nice, thanks for posting that, you have eased my stressful mind :P
I got to play the Atari guitar at our concert (2009 at Cains in tulsa) Paul threw the guitar to the crowd and we got to play with it.....then after 2 mins the security guy got it back.....It was EpiC!
this was insane live during the Armistice Tour. it was also insane how they followed reset and ended the show with break the same. fucking epic. if u havent seen them live yet you better fucking do it. they will just seize control of every particle of your body and vibrate them with their amazing tunes. mutemath ftw!!!!
to be completely honest, i only clicked on the video link because i wanted to see Darren do the drums to this song live... it sounds and looks unreal. I can imagine what he's thinking "hey, where'd all my drums go" hahaha
They all seem to be in their own world and at the same they come together really well and it just sounds beautiful.I dont even care if that sounds cheesy. This band is purly amazing.I would love to see them live.Love it*Hint hint*
Captures everything that is magical about MUTEMATH. Hope they set aside their differences and return someday. They are sorely missed.
dk roy and a new guy corey did a show in tn at a small drum called nelson. check it out

They're a huge inspiration

Timing and precision... They pull it it off so well

you mean amazing@@JayBrekken
Most underrated young drummer of today
Chris Allen at the House of Blues in San Diego, he put some water on the drums and hit them and it kept flying in the air through the lights
Jason G.
SICK. Still haven't seen them live somehow. Ugh.
+Chris Allen Who rated him poorly?
Most underrated band ever :(
Bbng drummer is actually the most underrated
That drummer is so bloody talented is unbelievable!! played the drums in so many different ways I cant comprehend what the f.. just happened..
He dubs with a foot pedal and plays a different beat the next measure or whatever.

And this song being one of the best outros ever fucking made. God damn.
agreed still jolds up
I've been coming back to watch this video regularly since I first discovered it about two years ago. This never gets old.
Oh my god, Paul ran over and did the effects for Darren's drums. That's amazing. You learn so many great details watching them play.
I have been lucky enough to see Mute Math in concert twice - they are amazing!!
This song has a very "Everything In Its Right Place" beginning.
I was just about to say that!
SoYouShouldKnow they are very influenced by radiohead
I’ve thought this for years. They were on a play list together I had for a long time with zero seven waiting line those 3 are like a triad
i thought it was a cover... so is not?
Darren doesn't play to a clicktrack. He IS the clicktrack
Correct!
The clicktrack follows HIM ;)
I don't a more talented group of musicians in todays music. The drummer is beyond everything i've EVER heard. An amazing talent.

Mute Math is officially my new favorite band. So unique, so incredibly talented.
no normal person could listen to all of the 6 minutes and 51 seconds of this. but an awesome person would replay it over and over and over
Love this!!! Mutemath is so underrated. One of my favorite shows of all time!
MUTE MATH!!!!!!
dude this is possibly one of the best alternative songs i have ever heard!
omg... how does this not have more hits
seriously..
Mute Math is the most talented band I've ever seen in my entire life.
god i'm a drummer myself and normally i love listening to guys like Neil Pert, Mike Portnoy, or Carter Beauford. But this guy is just on his own. In fact this whole band is... I really want to see them live because this whole DVD is amazing
He reminds me of the drummer from Toto, Jeff Picaro
This band makes their own instruments. Enough said.
Mutemath... I really want to see them live some day... They should really come to Holland!
Pure fuckin talent at its best. I'm completely speechless.
Imagine producing a record with weird glitch effects, sample retriggers etc etc. AND THAN PLAYING IT LIVE TO PERFECTION. Fuck me, that was phenomenal.
And this is why they're my fav band!!!
I was at this concert, and if you live twenty one pilots, thank MuteMath's influence
Simply feeling it and letting his wrists do the work, allowing the sticks to bounce and letting ghost hits roll
That is the best sounding snare I have ever heard...
I had worked a concert where they opened a few years back, fell in love with these guys. Love their sound and such talented musicians. Legit.
2022 in three days, but still my favourite since 2008 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Happy New year y'all!
it needs more 3:28-3:50,that section deserves to be at least a minute longer
13 years ago we had a podcast called The Jagerbombcast. This was our theme song. So dope.
Drummer is out of his fucking mind
Darth Bobo fmudysysnmxj
The most awesome performance from the genius that is and was MUTEMATH!
Almost the Doors esq at the height of their powers
This video is still perfect and their drummer is still an absolute beast.
I LOVE these guys I've seen/met them 3 times
Once in D.C. and 2 times in Baltimore their musical vocabulary not just on Rock but also Jazz is ASTOUNDING!
Honestly, I must be a few thousand of the views on this. The talent in this band blows me away.
I saw them open for Wolfmother in Salt Lake City, and it was beyond epic.
Music is music, I completely agree. People can attach whatever lyrics they want to music, but music unto itself is detached from the world of religion and politics and everything that goes along with it.
AMAZING!! I love mutemath, they are one of my favourite bands ever
Discoverd this on Pandora, Oh what a good day it was!
Whenever I surf the web I always end up right back here.....
Dude it's been so long since I heard this song I love it though.
Reset is easily the best track... of the first 3 albums at least (haven't listened to their last 2). Someone already said it, it's so reminiscent of Radiohead's Everything In Its Right Place.
their use of effects is what gives mutemath their unique sound. I've never really seen them used in such a way that MM does
My Life Is Better When I listen to this Music!
Saw them a couple of months back. What a phenomenal band. Wow.
1:22 that pause is the best thing i've heard in this week
exactly, best drummer, he actually feels the way he plays, he doesn't just play, he feels what he plays!
you will most definitely not be disappointed... just saw them last night at the house of blues... one of the best performances i've ever seen.
I praise God for the man who recorded this live recording years ago. Thanks to this song, I got to know Paul Meany, his next solo work. Amen 🙏👼🔥💯♥️
I think he use his headphones for the monitor mix probably without the KLICK - amazing! I´m from Germany - unfortunately almost nobody knows about this great band here. But when I play all CDs or DVDs of them - almost everybody is excited!
My very deeeep respect for that drummer.
Soo groovy, I do not know anyone to compare him to.
that's one of my fave songs of mutemath
That's where I freaking heard this from!! That damn organ melody was killing me like I've heard this somewhere before. Very nice, thanks for posting that, you have eased my stressful mind :P

I got to play the Atari guitar at our concert (2009 at Cains in tulsa) Paul threw the guitar to the crowd and we got to play with it.....then after 2 mins the security guy got it back.....It was EpiC!

I love how they're all like "Hey you wanna play the keyboard on this part?"
Mind=Blown !
The band is a great new discovery for me. Super sound!
ABSOLUTLY THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this band. To quote my cousin, "It's like Peter Gabriel mixed with U2 mixed with Radiohead." I love their "Typical" music video.
The reason this song is called "Reset" is because you can't stop pressing the replay button after the song ends
holy crap i just heard this song and now i love them
I have this DVD...it's amazing.
And this is the best song by far.
I could listen to this over and over... oh wait I am. =)
to be completely honest, i only clicked on the video link because i wanted to see Darren do the drums to this song live... it sounds and looks unreal. I can imagine what he's thinking "hey, where'd all my drums go" hahaha

i totally agree. i like it more than there other stuff which sounds more poppy. this is much more of an upbeat jam and the drums are great too
They all seem to be in their own world and at the same they come together really well and it just sounds beautiful.I dont even care if that sounds cheesy. This band is purly amazing.I would love to see them live.Love it*Hint hint*
