The first WOLFF 235 B in the UK

It is the first time that the new WOLFF 235 B crane has been seen in the UK, standing at a staggering 98m tall and fitted with a 45m jib. What makes it even more impressive is that it needed to be free-standing, so as not to slow down construction by tying to the building.

why was free standing height required, and was it necessary initially?

and what is the spool on the counter weights for?

Hi Chris, the free-standing height was required as our Customer didn’t want to have any brackets on the building for the tie legs. It was erected to full height as the Customer has a tight program so didn’t want there to be any climbing time at a later date.

1) wolffkran are reliable cranes;
2) city lifting got a few of them in London;
3) don’t think a mast alteration on a weekend will delay badly the program of a project. It’s all about the money. :)
