The Harmon Kardon in the challenger is one of the best sound systems I’ve ever heard. Definitely not a disappointment!

Agreed, Without a doubt, not sure what many of these guys are used to to even say that.

    • @jlolment
      @jlolment 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Harmon Kardon is "badge engineering." They'll provide some tuning for a specific vehicle, but phase, impulse, and transience are always disappointing. Maybe most telling is what the speakers are made of - paper, just like the entry level speakers.
If you want great sound, get the standard system, stuff some dynamat (or equivalent) behind the interior panels, and swap out the speakers with something other than vibration-prone paper. The ideal speaker is a thin, lightweight, compressible, and very stable plane. You already make sacrifices by using conical speakers, don't skimp on their materials.

Both are amazing cars but you have a 3rd generation Mustang along with Camaro and Corvette while Challenger and Charger have been in the same generation for over a decade . I know Dodge has a big surprise in the next few years. Mercedes platform and chassis is definitely being replaced. Anyway the Redeye is just a small taste of whats yet to come. A rumored Widebody Charger Angel with a new platform and suspension and a 1000 HP 426 Hemi Motor would make me leave skid marks to the nearest Dodge dealer !!! Lol I'm born Dodge but i wouldn't buy right now. Def would wait to see what happens in the next few years. My brother just got a Redeye and i begged him to wait another year or two but he couldn't wait and spent the 90 grand lol

My first SRT was a 6.1 Challenger then I got a hellcat and was so impressed and put just over 150,000 miles on her. The cabin hasnt changed because the car will loose the retro nostalgia if they get too radical... Look in a 69 or 70 model & you can still feel the heritage transfer... BUT... They could upgrade the interior materials and visual technology... The interior of a Red Eye Should glow Red like your in the "Hot Place" & the Eye should blink with red Led's like you say... They could get some drama on for near 100k...

SRT BOSS RIchard Kunnis stated that is just the begining phase. New platform and chassis coming and should knock off over 400 lbs off the car weight. New suspension we already know about. The big mystery is what Monster Hemi motor will they be putting to this animal ! Lol rumored 426 Hemi with estimated 900 to 1000 hp would be the icing on the cake lol Dodge def going to exceed the 800 hp Redeye motor we have now in the next few years. A car that can do 160 mph if your foolish enough yet very capable of mid 20 mpg on a 70-75 mph cruise on the highway. Identical good looks at half the price ! That is insane ! I had the 2008 Challenger SRT8 in black . I purchased it from a dodge dealer owner who put 1900 miles on it in six yesrs . Completely loaded and black . I sold it and regretted it. Next year I will get the Scatpack widebody in pearl black. Hell you only live once ! Right ?

I also have the Harman in mine and don't understand why the reviewer was disappointed, because he didn't qualify his statement. The system is crystal clear, pounds if you want it to. The only comment I would make is that I would have liked to have more volume, but not at the expense of the clarity.

The interior is better than the Camaro and MUCH better than the current Mustang. It's big, comfortable, great beefy steering wheel. Visually pleasing gauges, big comfortable wide seats. Great shifter and a class leading touch screen.

You dont think that the 2015 interior updrage was definitely a huge difference over the earlier models? I disagree on that. I love the interior as much as the exterior. That said, that was a great review Steve

I've been obsessing over Challengers since their return in '08. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered up a Redeye like the one reviewed here,. Indigo Blue with the Red leather, all options minus stripes or a sunroof. Is not my first fun car, I'm 54, I compare my Redeye to big liter sport bikes for people, the acceleration is stupid fast. The car cannot be driven in anger, it is a constant drive with a smile, between exhaust and whine, and a quick heavy right foot, you are triple digits in speed and heart rate in mere seconds.. Never a dull moment. I don't compare it to other cars, because it's in a whole different class. My '05 STI would destroy it on a twisty road, which is a different kind of fun, but when I start runway racing, it will be the Redeye that gets me in the 200 club. Only a small handful of cars will break into the 200 mph club, and even
    less US made cars.

That interior isn't a decade-old, and was updated in 2015 lol. The interior was the same from 08 to 2014, but then got the upgrade after that

60% ok, 40% millennial don’t know what your talking about. The interior of my 1320 takes me back to 1977. It feels like a 1970 Cuda. Every time I pull the stubby auto “T” handle to the “D” stop it feels like my 1971 Hemi Orange SuperBee 383 Magnum “slapstick”. The only thing I miss is the whole engine hood on the big Chargers, Cudas and GTOs would shake back and forth.

In this case, I'm not thanking you for the info. Just for the vicarious thrill! My doctors tell me that there's no curing the part of me that wants this car, but I would settle for the soundtrack. It would certainly add some swagger to my Soul EV.

I will either pick this up or the new widebody redeye charger in a year or so. People buying this car don't really care for interior. If you want interior buy European. I want power and some leather this is nice enough.

Challengers are true muscle cars not "sports" cars like camaros and mustangs. I love my 19 scat pack. In my opinion hellcats are way too powerful as a daily driver. The scat pack is the sweet spot. Nothing looks as mean and beastly as a challenger.

Excuse me, but the statement that the interior of the dodge has not changed much over the past decade is simply not right. The first few challengers and I am safe to assume chargers had horrible interiors. That redesign in 2015 changed it to the way it is now. Irrespective of personal opinion about the looks of either, stating that the interior has not changed a lot over the past decade is far out. But I would understand that comment if it were solely focused on the technology behind the surface.

    • @stevehammes
