the fact that English isn’t even Mikas first language and she doesn’t live in a predominantly English speaking country but she STILL manages to know more is so funny
Many non native English speakers have a better understanding of the technical aspects of English than native speakers. Native speakers basically guess and check from infancy, instead of being formally taught they just learn to intuit what sounds right based on pattern recognition.
As a linguistics guy I do have to point out that English First Language speakers are rarely taught how to speak their language on a technical level while English Second Language speakers are taught the technicalities of the language by default hence why Mika knows her tenses more than either Luca or Mysta. It is funny though since the majority of MY and ID teachers learned how to study the language in the Philippines in the 60s-80s and well Mysta is half Filipino lmao.
Gonna be completely honest, I also thought that Mysta was playing it up for content at the beginning. It was only with his stories, each one more concerning than the last, that I realized that he really just IS like that
He does say he's doing it for content sometimes. When he says it's for content, he says it in a way/tone that you'd think he's saying it to not embarrass himself yet it's actually true. It's a true statement inside a multi-layered joke. And I liked him for that even if he's just playing it for the laughs.
tbh he does play it up for content a lot too, but those times you can tell cause he does it in a rlly exaggerated tone lol. when it's true he'd say it rlly bluntly at first, then shakily says that it's for content when he's called into question HAHAH
@Ben Estrada Yeah, regional dialects tend to disregard prim and proper grammar, but he was being handed that as a face-saving out, apparently twice, and he was rejecting it- THAT is what makes their grammar argument so funny. Yes Mysta, how you say it is a regional British thing.
To Mysta's credit, when it comes to many dialects like Cockney, African American Vernacular English, and South American English, proper grammar is almost never used. In fact, the grammar rules for these dialects tend to be rewritten entirely to better suit an easier way of speaking. It's an intercultural thing, so I wouldn't say Mysta is completely wrong. Although, he did definitely melt my brain trying to rationalize his argument....
While that's true, he was being handed that as an out, as a regional dialect, and he's rejecting that. That's what makes this entire situation so hilarious.

when they were debating about tenses and 'you was' or 'you were' I thought I was sitting in a middle school English class while this is a conversation among 3 adults in which 2 are native speakers
The funniest part about it is that regional dialects are a thing and they often disregard completely prim and proper grammar, especially Cockney. And Mysta was being handed that as a face-saving out, 'okay I guess it's just a British thing" but he's vehemently rejecting that.
*"You are the friggin bo'om"* Mika so savage, and Mysta just went silent? xD *"How did we got here from geography?"* Lol good point Ike I love Mika and Mysta's chemistry so much, they're legit like siblings who constantly fight but still love each other deep down 😂
To be fair with the continent thing, there isn't a completely internationally agreed system to separate them, so in some areas, the continents are thought differently. Like in Latinamerican(where I'm from) we don't separate the American continent in 2 parts. It's just "America" and that's how we are thought. It's actually a very interesting topic, there's like 6 different systems people use which make the amount of continents to range from 4 to 7. However, 9 continents? That might be a new "system" created by mysta... We might need more research for that one...
I think it's because the equator is the imaginary line that separates between north and south. Hence, North America and South America. As for Africa.... It won't work. Also there's the Panama Canal
I think it might have to do with tectonic plates in americas case, since north and south america are on different ones. Then again, might also not be since europe and asia are on the same tectonic plate.
@@pega7550 one of the system's actually mention this. In that system Europe and Asia are counted as a single continent.
