Well... I think Munro is now regretting his omission of secondary batteries on the capital ships. That italian cruiser swarm could have used some 6" AP to the face from all the BBs, so poor Ceres wouldn't have had to run interference all the time.
The end of that destroyer ambush battle was one of the oddest things I've seen in your campaigns. hehe. :)

Here's an idea that I really like what if the game devs make a new game like ultimate admiral but with ironclads starting from 1830 or 1840 and ending in 1890 now I know the devs aren't making a new game soon but this is just an idea but I think it is a good one and might be fun.
So better secondaries for the battleships now? Also, now whenever a battle cruiser shows great bravery and excellent fighting she and all her crew shall receive the Ceres with bronze guns, Ceres with silver guns, Ceres with gold guns, or the highest award for a battle cruiser Ceres with diamond guns.
Yes imagine now nicely those Cervantes class BBs would have finished the CLs if they had been sporting four triple 6" turrets on their decks.

I really wish this game had a Silent Hunter style Medal system, to award ships for valorous action. Better still if we could name them ourselves... It would be a fitting tribute to the brave crew of Ceres, Lion of the Ionian Sea.
@@user-xe9sg1wg7t that would be cool too, but unfortunately we have to make that up ourselves with no impact on the game.

Falcon Goes First
Ceres last torpedo hit Cacciatorpediniere Corazziere. She turned to join the Cervantes, thus missing another torpedo spread except for a dud. Getting up with Cervantes would mean she and they would be a one end of a stretched out Italian formation, and could wipe out ships that closed on them. Corazziere was still afloat there, and Ardente was with her. It was Ardente who took a 12” shell that broke her keel, and had her take 214 of her 233 man crew down with her. Falcon sank moments later, going down with 825 of her 970 man crew. She was the first capital ship to go.
With Falcon lost the ships of the Regia Marina begin to panic, launching torpedoes that struck their own ships. The Incrociatore battaglia San Ferdinando was struck by four torpedoes from what appears to have been the Incrociatore leggero Iride, her sister ship. If none missed, this was likely the four port tubes on Iride being fired at once. Gallardo was firing into the same scrum and sank the Pietro Micca with 1243 of her 1293 man crew, leaving only 50 survivors.
Ceres was still trying to catch up with Cervantes and the rest of the Acorazados with San Tomás de Aquino tagging along behind her until she was ordered to retire. Eridano was right in front of them, and flooded forward with one engine disabled and nearly 300 casualties, but Cervantes and Dichoso were targeting San Ferdinando. Generale Antonio Cascino was menacing Gallardo with torpedoes again, and Eridano and the other Corazzate were now targeting Ceres. Eridano sank with 884 of her 970 man crew while Corazziere finally sank with 205 of her 233 man crew. Gallardo hit Generale Antonio Cascino with one more shell and sank her with 223 of her 233 man crew, leaving 10 survivors.
The Italian front had just been pushed back by kilometers. Ceres, though she had taken serious damage above the waterline fore and aft, and had damage to her main tower, was still combat capable, though she had expended her torpedoes and 6” AP ammunition. But Ceres was able to destroy the Puglia, sinking her with 1138 of her 1293 and causing the Incrociatore leggero to launch her torpedoes in a mad attempt to strike back. They only struck the Cacciatorpediniera Guiseppe Sirtori, sinking her with 228 of her 233 man crew, leaving 5 survivors. A torpedo did reach an Acorazado, probably Cervantes.
Ceres took more 14.3” hits, but her main belt of armor kept them out of the ship. Insidioso was up, with torpedoes at the ready, and closing on Ceres, when the third capital ship sank. The Scudo della Fede sank with 893 of her 970 man crew. Ceres followed that by sinking the Eturia with 1259 of her 1293 man crew. Insidioso had now passed behind the wreck of Scudo della Fede and was heading towards Gallardo. She had however already launched her torpedoes, so Gallardo targeted the more distant Iride, there being no guarantee that Iride would hit her own side on the next torpedo strike. Stengal or San Vittorio finally put a 14.3” shell through Ceres’ main belt. Ceres was ordered to withdraw. Cervantes targeted Stengal and Dichoso targeted or San Vittorio. The last spreads of torpedoes were sweeping out towards Ceres as she turned away. Ceres took more 14.3” hits, one through her aft belt.
Gallardo finished Iride, sinking her with 1099 of her 1293 man crew. Dichoso caught a torpedo but stayed in the battle. Then Ceres sank, after a glorious first and last battle, with eight kills to her name. She took 1205 of her heroic 1320 man crew down with her.
The three Cervantes’ now faced nine Italian ships. They targeted San Ferdinando, Stengal, and San Vittorio in a bid to rid the Italians of heavy guns. San Ferdinando was the first sunk, losing 422 of her 3017 man crew, most of the men able to abandon the slowly sinking hulk. San Vittorio was blown up, and took 942 of her 970 man crew down with her. With the Acorazados closing on her, and San Ferdinando not sinking quickly enough, she was hit again with an Italian torpedo to scuttle her so she’d take their latest naval technology to the bottom with her. Gallardo was ordered to withdraw.

Sometimes I'm still surprised that some things in life still surprise me. For example, of all the things that the devs of this game could have spent their time on, multiplayer was not anywhere near the top of my list of likely options. 😂
Nice video Munro, magnificent job dealing with the italian fleet, specially by the Ceres.
As a puntualization, i feel that instead of "San" Ceres it shoud be "Santa" Ceres, considering that in spanish "Santa" is the female form of Saint and Ceres is a female name.
Also, in the future, when you unlock (and use i hope) Super Battleship hull, would you name one as Santísima Trinidad?
Verses what the Italians keep bringing i'd go "yes" to making all the light cruisers
That fight with the Navarra should have the Benny Hills song playing in the background

All these armor hit sounds have different pitches. It should be possible to make a melody with them

24:30 i know this sounds counter intuative but ive been having what i consider fair success with using Steroscopic with light cruisers and engaging at longer ranges , just a thought
My struggle with playing as spain is never having enough time to modernize all my ships before the next nation attacks me

I feel like the next round of refits should include a new 3.8”/45s for the BBs. The secondary battery could really use more teeth.
Or even bigger guns in turrets, 3-inchers in casemates aren't great for the 30s
I think the Italians this campaign went the opposite. They armored there small ships most and there big ships the least lol the cruiser killer did very well in the fleet battle 47:46
So italian secondaries have more range than their primaries. It's a bold strategy cotton, let's see if it pays off for em.

Dichoso
The remaining / Incrociatori leggeri targeted Dichoso with more torpedoes, but she slipped through the gaps in both spreads.
With flooding forward and aft, one engine disabled, her secondary tower blown off and her main tower damaqged, Stengal was trying to pull away with her 697 survivors. She however was now everybody’s main gun target. Stengal sank with 281 of her 970 man crew.
Cervantes and Dichoso were now targeting Basilicata and Paolo Emilio, with Cervantes showing her agility and slipping a torpedo strike gap. Cervantes was fighting flooding fore and aft. Cervantes sank Paolo Emilio with 1112 of her 1293 man crew. Cervantes was ordered to withdraw and deal with her flooding. Dichoso sank Basilicata, leaving the same number of survivors. Only Cacciatorpediniera were left.
Dichoso, with no HE shells left, waded into the remaining Italian ships. Her 3” gun directors had to be reset, but once they were they ripped into the Cacciatorpediniera as best they could. Insidioso was finally sunk with 210 of her 233 man crew. As the 3” guns opened up Palestro was sunk with all hands. Ardito was sunk with 226 of her 233 man crew. Generale Antonio Cantore was sunk with 226 of her 233 man crew as well.
There are disputes on the numbers, but apparently the Regia Marina lost 20,060 men killed or lost at sea, 6548 captured, and 59 thousand tons of warships. The Armada Real Española lost 2255 men killed and 1176 rescued, with 35 thousand tons of warships lost. The loss of the Ceres is reported to have convinced the Almirante Supremo de la Armada to build three more.
The Regia Marina seems to be down to one Corazzata di prima classe, three Incrociatori da battaglia, ten Incrociatori corazzati, twelve Incrociatori leggeri, and twenty-seven Cacciatorpediniera.
37:28 no i think its less of the AI picking on your light ships and move of a case your line is sooo long that by the time the rear ships pick up on where your course change they are nicely in range

Has anyone else encountered the bug where ships in a line dont fire aside from the lead ship ever since the new update dropped?
Furthermore, anyone also noticed accuracy being absolutely dog shit now for some reason? I have Mk.V 15" turrets with 17% barrel length only having up to 51% accuracy at 1000m, 33% at 2500m D:
Oh yes I’ve been trying to get my head around what they did for hours now 😂 if you don’t mind cheesing the game just make your guns as short as possible and enjoy rapid fire sniper mortars

@@swssm4741 well yea but you get that 53% accuracy basically regardless of length or shortness, theres lile a 3% difference between +20 and -20% length :/ And even if i think thats such a stupid change, its not fun sitting there for 30 minutes while you try to Hit a ship 8km or even 2km away from you with barely any success

So you need to stop focusing fire. When a ship gets between your cruiser and another the vloser firing, that closer should be your target, not the fleeing ship

Also just noticed that the Italian BC only has round-caliber guns (no decimal points on the inches). Idk if you're using ship packs for this campaign, but if so, player design?
No player designs yet for v2 of the mod but the ai can access any ships I’ve made while testing it
