Slade were a very underrated band. Definitely one of the best bands . Jim is a great musician. If Jeff Lynne wanted to put together another Wilburys Jim Lea fits the bill perfectly. 👍👍👍
Oh heck yes. If we're going to play "Fantasy 21st Century Wilburys" I'd suggest Jim Lea Bruce Springsteen Annie Lennox Rod Stewart Jarvis Cocker Bryan Ferry Juliet Turner ...and because he's an all-round good egg and did a barnstorming job on that Christmas track with the OId '97s, Kevin Bacon. The fact that Jim Keltner should be included, and given equal billing for once, goes without saying. Anyone got their own suggestions for posterity?
I think it was Chas Chandler who said, when he first saw Slade, before becoming their manager: "The singer - He's definitely got something. The drummer - He can drum. The guitarist - He can play and is watchable. The bassist - Ah, now there's the man who makes it all happen! " Or something along those lines. Thanks for 'How does it feel' Jim, still one of my favourite songs!
Jim was the bands main songwriter no matter what the writing credits are on the records, he dictated the bands musical direction, no denying Nods input or Dave or Don but Jim has all the musical ideas & brought them to the band. Has Nod written anything since Slade days? Jim has lots of completed recorded works so think that gives you the answer as to who did all the heavy lifting when it came to composition.
I was hooked on slade from the first time i heard them, and its too bad we couldn't get 1 big send off from them. So grateful that Jim is doing well since he had cancer awhile back and stiĺl making music.
The thing is Jim......you always were the greatest......not just now.....always.....I have always been the biggest fan of you and all of Slade....you made me want to do music......and I actually did a cover of "Kill em at the hot club tonite"
A music legend. The real talent behind Slades renaissance in the eighties. It just goes to prove that not only is Dave Hill not the best guitarist in the world he's not even the best guitarist in Slade!
C' est ça un morceau de rock, un vrai !! Et ça vient d' une âme de rocker ! Merci Jim - you' ve got a real rock soul ! Merci aussi d' avoir rejoint Don pour cette splendide version de "My Sharona" !! That's a great gift !! Jimmy Lea playing with the Don Powell Band ! It seems i'm dreaming .... such a beatiful reality !! Thanks guys !!! Merciiiiiii !!!
Wow, this is almost 90's Britpop. Jim Lea is a massive influence on me for bass. Whenever I'm stuck writing a bass line I stick on some Slade and the magic just comes to me. Cheers Andy
I liked this a lot when you first released it a few years ago. I didn't realise you'd done this video until just now. Great catchy tune. I can imagine it being a Slade song also.
Whoa, this is great! Slade was a little before my time but I caught up them in the 80s when I heard Run Runaway. They often came across as kinda goofy and I think sometimes people didn't take them seriously, but they're terrific musicians. Thanks for posting this! I didn't know Jim was still working.
Jim does very well from his writing with Slade the catalogue is still very successful. The other side is the term ‘change a word get a third’ so say Jim wrote a whole song for Ed Sheeran & Ed changes one word he gets a songwriters credit……this actually is the practice now it’s common
Yes you are Jim greatest band and brilliant songs ." Nuff Said "
Being smiling for fifty years plus. Slade ❤

Bruce Springsteen
Annie Lennox
Rod Stewart
Jarvis Cocker
Bryan Ferry
Juliet Turner

Fabulous catchy tune🎶🎶You sound brilliant Jim. We need to vote to get this to number one in the Heritage Charts
Great tune! So catchy and melodic!
Melodic? Catchy?
@@mickeystanic4750 Yes, bot. Take a Q-Tip and clean the donkey dung from your ears and maybe you’ll hear it.

I urge anyone who hasn't seen it to check out the live set from Jim. On TH-cam. About 20 years ago at the Robin? He is a devil of a man on guitar!

' I could be happy, I could be happy........... ' I'm hearing Clare Grogan and Altered Images here.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💯
Touch of Stereophonics
Yes, a slight dash, but that might have been his style for longer, or just for this song, it's intriguing!?!
Tom Petty could have written this great song. Lovin' it.
What a terrific sound! Is there an album?
Don't know if it's available in album form. It might have been on the re-issue of therapy.
Think it's on the reissue of therapy.
Nod has some pipes, Don is the nicest guy, but you are the musician.
The more listen to this track, the more I here, Stereophonics/ police/ Radio head.
Yes, Stereophonics! But different so that's OK.
Follow up got to be rock n bolero.
Bit late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ( dob 040649 )
It's 14-06-49 not 04th
@@carolsankhe4999 04....i mean 14th, anyway....sorry i am 65...
It's okay, just wanted Jimmy's birthday to be accurate.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
I prefer Ringo's version.
Great song but needs Don on the drums.
Sounds more Brit pop than Slade.
Sounds a bit like Cheap Trick to me..not a bad thing!
Maybe CT sounds like Slade / Jim ?
@@NBM3 Slade did come first!..by a few years….Good point!
@@NBM3Absolutely right. And they covered When the Lights Are Out a few albums back as well. Definitely fans of Slade, they are.
He would make a sh*tload of money writing for others. His talent is wasted.

Excellent trouble is no one needs to buy it now !
