This is the future of short haul trucking. Again; after all, electric trucks were commonplace in the early 1900s. It's good to see Mack leading the way.
How many loads can this truck pull before it needs to be recharged? How many tons of household trash or green waste can it hold ie 8, 10, 12 tons? Forget about the MRF, can this truck take a beating at the landfill specially after it rains? Is that full eject body or an upright? Inquiring minds want to know.
Oh, you'll still get a lot of noise out of the compaction and moving around of those bins, rest assured. Speaking of Landfills, my music video collage, Afraid of the Past, Stuck in the Future, Mining the Landfill, will explain why landfills are already a source for material and even food in parts of the globe: th-cam.com/video/kupebHeFpZk/w-d-xo.html
is it possible if you can tell me the range of the Mack LR Electric price, I am doing my graduation project about waste management system I would like to add as an alternative with the gas garbage truck and compare differences and advantages
If we've learned anything from the Tesla semi truck, it's that these batteries are probably so absurdly heavy that it'll probably only be legally allowed to carry like 1/4th the amount of weight that it's diesel counterpart can.
Late to the party but according to the specs on the website it states: Payload Up to 25,500 lbs while the regular, non electric version of the LR has a Payload of up to 29,000 lbs, so the difference is about 4,500 lbs
@Screwdriver440 I've read that the battery for a tesla model Y is 4400lbs. If I remember correctly that's about 1200lbs more than a cummins x15. The tesla semi would have to have much larger battery packs than their suv. The truck i drive is a '14 peterbilt 579 60" sleeper, 240" wb, paccar engine and 10spd eaton manual. It has twin 135 gallon tanks. My empty weight hooked to one of our 48' spread combo transcraft flatbeds is 30,600lbs(full fuel). Hooked to one of our closed tandem great Danes I'm about a 1k heavier. If the tesla semi can't meet these weights and have a range of over 700 miles then it's useless to us. It might have a place in city driving with a daycab version.
@Screwdriver440 I've driven a medium duty truck that had an electric pump to run the hydraulics for the dump bed. It would lift fine but man was that thing slow about dumping compared to the same truck with a conventional PTO driven pump. Maybe a setup with an electric motor turning a pto that runs the hydraulics would work better than having the pump itself be electric. The city i used to work for just bought a mack electric garbage truck. First one in the state according to the news. According to mack's website it has an "up to 100 mile on the job" range. Their northern routes have a 40 mile round trip to the transfer station. If they make more than one trip to the transfer station to unload then it might be cutting it close on power at the end of the day.
Yo @mack trucks i know this video is old however my old brother loves ur trucks. I work on the back of these trucks picking up rcylings. If i send you guys the proof of me running 10-20miles on foot could you bless my dpw with a actully good truck? lol we just got some new ones however it's not mack also i've been on the back for 2 years now and every 5 days i'm doing 50-70 miles of running then on weekends another 20 miles bless my dpw big man
This would be a gamechanger. Diesel trucks are noisy and very polluting. Considering short haul trucks don't travel long distances, there's no reason they shouldn't be electric.
Dude those vv0ke eUR0c0m13s6lacknessdav0s's childrens still using diesel machine and american machinery & engineering for their dystopian mudfest. 《 TRUTH. God have mercy 🙏♥️
i love the background music.. so groovy!!! also.. those houses look so so beautiful..

How much does it weigh compared to a diesel version?

@@Deleteguest Yep, exactly the reason I asked. In fact, I'm quite annoying on electrek. I'm always asking how much things weigh. Lol

Cool 😍
Offer an electric 4x4 in your medium duty series, and leapfrog all the electric truck brands at once! Exciting innovations guys.
who supplies the batteries?
Tyler Mac nov
Tyler Mac very much
How long will the truck run on a single charge ? will it make an 8 hr shift ? how much does the truck weigh empty ?
Tyler Mac uh maybe it can go faster
What do you burn to make the electricity?
Sunshine and wind. Your welcome.

These are the only truck i care go electric they are so loud and annoying.
They are also detrimental to ones health in use because of vibrations and noise.

This is a WOKE JOKE!!!!
Damn electric motor will never pack the trash as powerfully as a heavy-duty diesel ... glad I no longer work for the woke big boys of the industry
4000 ft-pd of torque 536 hp. You were saying?
What diesel garbage trucks do you see with 4051 ft-lb of torque...

This is woke and won't run well or long.
