A faster way to do the h perm is to simply learn the h perm skip case which is when on your last sledge/hedge before solving the top layer, check the sides on the left and right and if both of them have the center correct then do a y2, do what you were going to do before the y2, do another y2, and do the opposite of what you just did (if you just did sledge, do a hedge, and vice versa). I use Sarah's intermediate and average around low 5s or high 4s and I have found this to be the most efficient way to do an h perm, and you don't need to learn any new algs, just a new combination.
3:35 I very much disagree color neutrality is what separates Lucas ether and feliks People have this weird idea that color neutrality has not that much effect, and I would suggest learning to be color neutral as early as possible. It pretty much gives you 6 different scrambles to choose from, and lets you get good scrambles (which is the effect for skewb) it's just "more important" on skewb cause it's easier than 3x3
Yeah, but people always gloss over the fact that it also has a drawback: you have to waste some of your inspection deciding on a cross color, whereas those few seconds you used could have been spent planning out the cross and first f2l pairs.
easy h perm SH y2 HS y2 SH easy z perm (hold the adjacent colors that need to switch facing you) bring the right center to the top then on the left center do SH SH SH
Thanks! I already knew the Z-Perm one from Keanny Ooi’s video (he has less than 40 subscribers, so you probably don’t know who he is), but I didn’t know the H-Perm. Thanks!
wow thanks! yay I know the skewb now. For people who may be confused, the Z-Perm could be written as R (SH SH SH) R' . That is, a single setup move, 3 SH and then undo the setup move. I first thought you meant bring the center to the top = like in the beginner method.
Today I got a lucky scramble and got 2 seconds. I also stopped my timer wrong so I tried again and got exactly 15 seconds. If you want proof then comment on this and I'll show a vid!
I'm pretty sure an opposite edge swap is called an H perm is because no one wants to say Xperm or +perm. Anything that has an S sound in front of the 'perm'.
For the H-Perm, there is a more simple method Just first do a sledgehammer, then rotate the cube 2 times then do a hedgeslammer then turn 2 times again and do a sledgehammer
Yes, but it's very extensive. It's called Sarah's advanced method if you want to check it out, but it's over 100 sequences (one for each case) of sledgehammers and hedgeslammers.
I made a google docs with algs for the same method as in this video, but many algs are different. All of them are just sledgehammers, so they're quick like these. For anyone who wants algs on paper: bit.ly/2KBpoIi
How to properly finger trick the L4E/L4C (Last 4 Edges/Last 4 Centers) cases: th-cam.com/video/xqbIM5p82SQ/w-d-xo.html Also, as for the H-Perm, watch this one, and he even says to watch this one in the other video that’s linked in this comment: th-cam.com/video/z8Ux6uMIPlU/w-d-xo.html
For advanced solvers, I adapted a Z perm alg of NS 2.0 and here it is: r2 B r' B 'b' r' b B r' At the beginning fingerticks are hard but after practicing it it's better than RLU z perm
Hm, I always had done some of the cases differently which would make me have to guess on what case is next but this video helped me realize that no guessing is required (ex: for the 2 Rotated cases where the center isn't on top, if one of the corners is touching the center with the same color, you're guaranteed to do the same motion (sledge or hedge) for the next case; if none of the corners touch the center you'll just do the opposite). Thank you for the clarification! :D
I know. It's just I just switched to this method and found the alternative alg. When I saw your alg, I practiced the alternative alg because it is easier to memorize. I will soon switch to your alg because the execution is much faster. But for people just switching to the intermediate method, I find that doing SH y2 HS y2 SH is easier to memorize at the start, but they can switch to your faster one.
I have a better h-Perm. It’s just sledgehammer y2 hedgeslammer y2 sledgehammer. Sorry for writing this under a Comment, Bit otherwise Nobody world See it
I put the skewb on the table and twist my wrists to do sledges and hedges, which I don't think is that slow. Is there a good reason to use your finger tricks instead of my way?
I believe that’s how I used to do it too, but it was incredibly slow. Even without much experience, these fingertricks should easily take less than a second.
Is there a shorter way to do SH y SH y2 SH, and SH y' SH y2 SH? Because this is the way to do 4 corners rotated when the center is touching two / no corners.
I think I tried to generate algorithms for those cases at one point, but there either wasn't anything shorter, or the algorithms were so difficult to execute that they took significantly longer.
I do my sledgehammers with the same fingers on the right hand, but I do L with my left thumb, then I do R’ the same but opposite of R, then I do L’ with my left pointer finger and thumb
You say to do the fingertrick to not have to regrip, but don't you have to regrip after doing the sledgehammer ? You start with pointer/middle finger on top and thumb in front and end up with pointer/middle finger in front and thumb on top (which is btw a hella uncomfortable grip to end on)
But there is one more "pll" situation, when you have real H perm(like the orange side inside 4 blue corners near to the blue side inside 4 orange corners) 6:50 also you could have another one, when the yellow side isn't in the opposite side
I learned color neutrality and use of the hedgeslammer (calling it the « reverse alg ») before viewing this video. However, I found a « sort-of-figertrick » before: I take the 2 corners to turn and I use the table to keep the skewb stable. A bit like when I use the table to keep a 3x3 stable when doing H or Z perms OH
I have trouble doing the last move for the sledgehammer. I have to turn my hand to an uncomfortable position for the left move at the end. What am I doing wrong?
Probably not, because it offers little benefit for the average person, and is basically just learning all of the advanced cases. If you need to watch an actual video, see Kennan LeJeune's (they're pretty good).
The old QiYi’s caps did use to pop really badly. They’ve fixed it in newer versions, but you can lightly superglue them on once you’ve got your tensions down.
