      Tyrone Price his movement was ok for 37 years and for heavyweights its still an age to fight but i think the Problem was that floyd was Not a nature heavyweight because when i spar in Training with guys 5-10Kg more than me i can feel more pressure and its not easy.. just my thoughts but we Will Never know. Both fighters were Great in our lovely Boxing Sport and yeah my english sucks greetings from Germany

      @@tyroneprice6642 Floyd showed tremendous valiance in what seemed to be an impossible fight for him to win. His stamina and defence was superb for a man of his age, especially considering the D'Amato 'peekaboo' style is a high intensity and highly demanding one. A gentleman and a kind spirited one on top of if all 👌🏼

      @@k4rl384 That just proves Patterson was a great fighter pound to pound because all throughout his boxing career he fought men way heavier and taller. So Floyd deserves to be ranked as a top 20 in my view of all time. A great man

      Floyd was ahead on points in the 8th. His eye closed up and the ref stopped the fight. If he hadn't he might've retired after having just beat Muhammad Ali. His daughter was frightened of him after seeing him get hit and he promised never to box again.

    • @Cableguy15
      @Cableguy15 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would a guy who took on Liston be afraid of Ali? Ali might have been more skilled, but Liston was the most dangerous guy to get hit by up until Tyson came along. Floyd had the heart of a lion.

    • @Pedro_Le_Chef
      @Pedro_Le_Chef ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Cableguy15 "up until Tyson came along"
      No, Liston hit the hardest until Shavers came along, and Shavers only hit harder with his right hand. Sonny hit harder from other angles.
      There's no question that Liston was a much harder hitter than Tyson.

      Ali made it happen to help Floyd pay off his debt to the IRS.

    • @josephshields2922

      @@thelevisullivan He earned the fight by winning eight straight comeback fights and beating Bonavena . Ringo put Frazier on the mat twice in the first round of a ten rounder and later went 15 with him. He also gave Ali a tough fight which was championship distance even though it was not for the title. Ringo lasted until the last round before being stopped.
      Ring Magazine posted a story at the time "After Beating the Man who gave Ali and Frazier fits Patterson deserves a shot" Floyd picked Bonavena for this reason but waited almost two years for the fight because of a Hand injury to Bonavena. Floyd was offered a shot at Foreman but would rather fight Ali. Ali wasn't doing him favors. Floyd filled MSG to capacity against Bonavena. Ali knew he was a good draw and he'd make $. Floyd put up a surprisingly good fight for 7 rounds and was on his feet when the Fight was stopped because of a cut over his left eye that originated in the 3rd Johannson fight. When fighters get older old cut injuries will open up again quite easily. that left eye nagged him in almost all of his eight comeback fights starting with the Charley green fight. I don't know about that IRS thing, I think it was a writers invention by the last biographer. At the time all the Sports writers were stating he didn't need to fight he was a millionaire.Be Careful. There are six different guys telling you they have the "real" story on the Liston -Clay fight. They all say they have the inside scoop, sonny didn't train. It was the Mob. No, it was the Muslims. Ali was too good, etc...

    • @josephshields2922
      @josephshields2922 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's no need for any fight. They do it for money. Ali knew Floyd was a big draw at MSG as his comeback fight fight with Bonavena packed the house. Watch it on you tube. The crowd is chanting Floyd Floyd Floyd ....He was loved in NY, Ali was looking at a million + for an easy fight.

      No body that was "Shot" could beat the Bull from South America. The strongman who put Frazier on the floor twice. you had to be top notch to beat a fighter like him.He only lost to the best. Floyd was not in his prime by any means but kept himself in prime condition. He had some good exchanges with Ali in this one, surprising Cossell and did not go down. The fight was stopped by the opening of what was a chronic cut that dogged him during his comeback.
