As someone with a deer sona, it makes me so happy to see you making cervines! I can't wait to see more progress for this guy, he's looking super good so far! 👍
i'm so happy I got your approval!! I LOVE cervines and just all hooved animals in general ;3; paws are nice but I REALLY appreciate cute hand hooves and lil nub tails and.... the noses are to DIE for, theyre so smoochable!!!!!
Your tutorials are extremely helpful when it comes to figuring out how to size the face parts to the bucket head. It's honestly something I struggle with but your techniques make it super easy to break down into smaller pieces 💖 thank you 🐾
Great to hear! It still has some trial and error (even with me now!) but i think doing it like this is a good first step to getting the shapes you want!
Ack I love these videos, they're so chill after all the stress of school. Also helps me get back into the sewing mood, which DEFINITELY helps with finishing commissions, thanks for making these, and I hope you have a wonderful day!
@@freckledcatcreations you definitely have, no doubt about it. Your skill and kindness are incredibly inspiring, plus the fact that I wanna give every suit you make a hug certainly doesn't hurt
I’m going to attempt to create my first fur suit soon! I’m great at sewing and prop making for cosplay so I hope that helps a bit, I’m starting sketches for my cat soon!
having a background in cosplay is REALLY going to give you a leg up on fursuit work! I was the same way actually!! i had sewn real clothes for myself and a few cosplays for a few years before getting into fursuits :3
How do you get each side symmetrical even when you shave down the foam? Ive been struggling with that quite a lot. Also what material would you suggest using for the bottom of feet? What you have so far looks amazing!
aw thank you!!! so I use EVA foam for the bottoms, eva will wear down eventually though so its best to put an additional layer of literal shoe rubber soling onto the outside! that's what i do. a foot with only EVA foam as the sole will last much shorter than if you put rubber on the outside. how to get foam symmetrical: you could either take a pic of it and load it into your drawing program, and compare it to your digital mockup (if youre doing my method) or just holding the head in front of a mirror will let your eyes see if one side is bigger/lumpier than the other! its really just with practice, your eyes will get better at noticing inconsistencies :3 comparing the distance from one feature to another also works. (example: "the cheek puffs out 1" more than the eyebrows do" etc)
Do you typically work without a walker foot? I find it real tough to use with two layers of faux fur so been debating going without it D: Absolutely LOVE the videos you put out
I've tried a walking foot on both minky and faux fur, and while it might help a little, I personally hate how you gotta take off the whole presser foot holder to screw the walking foot on, and then take it all off once youre done... so much work XD my goal is to have a second machine always set up somewhere with a walking foot permanently installed on it, so I have that when I need it but I can use my normal feet for most tasks.
Hey, I have a question about this one. ☺ I've always wanted everything planed and one of those things I'm planning is for this fursuit and her species is "Muskin" and muskins have tails that look like this: -----
so if it's small enough, you could put some "plastic doll armature" into it so you can pose the tips, but if the tail is too large the plastic isnt strong enough to hold too much weight. if so, use some thick wire found at a hardware store. make sure you bend over the wire ends so theyre not sharp, and wrap the wire in some cloth or quilt batting so it's softer. stick that into the tail ! you will need to figure out how to do the base of the tail where the wire doesnt poke your butt.
I actually 3D model! So fursuit making I can really compare to 3d modeling imo, making the base is sculpting, tape patterns are like UV unwrapping, furring is like reptopologizing, and and trimming the fur is like texturing. (Albeit unwrapping and reptopologizing are in the wrong order..)
YES!!!!! I started fursuit making and THEN doing blender... and then I realized that UV unwrapping was just like tape patterns! and it really helped me understand where seams will most likely be placed etc!! its so cool how alike these things are!!! :3c
So cute! Love your work so much, can’t tell you how inspiring it is! :3 Definitely going to make a reindeer fursona and add them to my project list now!
yea it sticks less than duct tape! i find it doesnt stick too much to the foam but masking tape sticks to itself really well. at least, the kind i buy from dollar tree.
not just comfortable..... bats and cats are my top favorite animals! and i REALLY WANT TO DO BATS!!!! just nobody has commissioned me for one yet!!!!):
I think I have a link on my 'adding shoulders to mannequins' tutorials a while back, but I find them on amazon! about $26 iirc. just search plastic mannequin head and you should find some!
too young to have fun? never. but keep in mind if you get a fursuit (hands, head, body, feet) while youre a kid, you grow VERY fast and will soon be too big for the fursuit - and youll have to buy a new one! sounds like a waste of money. you might need to wait to stop growing (so around 18 or 20) to order anything more than a tail or standard fits-most-sizes handpaws.
Its a MUCH more labor intensive kind of suit to make and I have done absolutely NO research on how to make them! so I don't. only maker i know of that does is Beastcub.
I did show you in the timelapse though! the whole carving process was shown you silly goose. just follow along and you can make a reindeer like me! if you want a detailed walkthrough on how to carve any head, watch this one. how to carve a fursuit head (general) : th-cam.com/video/cCrzE9uHfmY/w-d-xo.html
