    Dean, too many mods are always a huge problem and that has always been and always will be and is called job security, too many minds working overtime to fix a wheel that's not broken. sorry again for going overboard, most of the problems with the 5 series and others can be fixed with money and eBay, but thank you for all your professional help for all of us mechanical inclined entrepreneurs.

    I own an 08 E61 535xi in America, we have them here but they are not common. In the last 2 years the big repairs have been: hatchback pump failure $2000, rear turbo N54 replacement of both turbo and associated components $6000, transfer case seals, oil filter housing leak, battery. 15 hours labor to do turbos on the N54 :(. The rest has been normal stuff, sensors, plugs, vac lines, coils, etc

      exactly a much much bigger issue then e60 and e61 my friend these may have there issue but only people who aint mechanically or electronically minded would say stick with E46 OR E39 very basic and crappy car and old technology
      sorry but do you see me moaning about these cars ???? hell no I love them regardless at least they dont suffer rust which is more of a major issue then e60 and e61

      Ermmm..... 328i was a saloon, 328is was a coupe.....My E36 328is was a 2 door coupe matey, I think you have your information wrong. It was a mint condition Boston Green model, with the M50 manifold conversion, a Simota carbon shield induction kit, remap, clutch delay valve delete, Bilstein shocks, M3 front/rear splitters, etc etc I could go on with a long list but won't bore you. I sold it on Pistonheads to a lad who swore he was going to keep it in mint condition, then saw it for sale again on Ebay about 6 months later advertised as a 'drift toy' completely stripped out, a 'normal' diff fitted - welded, I was gutted. I should have never let that idiot buy it.

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s it yep indeed that’s the most common problem that Bmw have always suffered with as there engines produce to much power hence putting pressure on the gaskets and the cooling system

    Hey mate nice review over there. I’m thinking to go for a 530i(N53) touring from 2008 with 200 thousand khm. Nice car overall with many individual and rear extras in it plus up to 5000euros maintenance from the current owner within the last two years.Air suspensions,SAG fixed/ overhauled and still in guarantee, some electronics done too, new bobines and bougies etc.Overall the car looks good and drives good too. But to be honest having a look in different forums and reviews I’m quite discouraged for that purchase since everybody speaks for” constant need of fixing something” about the car. What would you advise me to do shall I go for it or choose something else instead?

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mate avoid the E61 and avoid the n53 engine it’s a complete money pit and very very expensive on constant injectors and HPFP it’s as expensive as running a diesel E61 is a very bad car and requires more maintenance then your normal e60 because it also has air suspension which fails aswell its more expensive then the saloon to look after if I was you mate get yourself a 2006 and up e60 saloon with N52 parts are coming down on these cars and make great cars all round with wicked power and no need for expensive injector ONE INJECTOR CAN COST AS MUCH AS 300 alone
      That’s why everyone gets rid with N53 engine mate it’s very very expensive and I bet they guy getting rid will sell you that and go buy one with n52 engine like most do here they tel you they don’t want another bmw next week you see them with another with n52 because there trying to be smart

    Hi Dean, great video. I bought a 2008 E61 5251 (80k miles) about 6 months ago. Had it checked over by an indi that has excellent reviews on Google, came back with clean-bill-of health. Had it serviced in Aug as my son and I were touring the UK in it. Was told there was a Software update from BMW. Since that been done the auto dip mirror sometimes fails to dip when selecting 1st gear or sticks down when out of reverse. and a missfire started on cylinder2. Recommended to change the coil/injector and spark plug. That cured it but now (6wks later) cylinder 4 is playing up. We're due to have 2 of the coils swapped (4 is going to no.3 and 3 to no.4) tomorrow (29/11/19). Does all this sound correct or will it just be the coils you mention? Thank you!

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      it could be coils OR injectors mate if you have N53 engine in its N52 engine mate you will have valve steam seal failure which means oil is getting into the chambers
