Kind Pakistani Shares His Meal 🇵🇰

- Wearing my new Karachi Kings cricket shirt, I went on the hunt for a famous Karachi dish called nihari.
Mr Bilal at the sports shirt shop advised me to go to Burns Road, the most famous food street in Karachi. When I got there I asked a local man where I could get some Nihari and he pointed me to Malik Hotel.
When you see 'Something Hotel' in Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka, the word 'hotel' actually means restaurant. You can't sleep there.
At Malik Hotel there was a man sitting at the storefront with a big pot of nihari. Nihari is a spicy meat stew and this one was made with beef.
I ordered a portion, a portion was served up and handed to the waiter, who I was told to follow. He served the nihari at a table with a man already sitting there and I was super confused. Was this his nihari or mine?
It turned out it was actually his but he said "no problem" and offered to share it with me. He acted like it was a completely normal thing to do. I couldn't imagine a stranger offering to share his meal with me like that in the UK.
The kind man, Mr Ghulam, didn't touch the meat at all. He left it all for me and was just eating the gravy with the roti. He claimed that he didn't like the meat, he only likes the gravy. I claim that he is just far too kind and generous.
The nihari was delicious. Very tender beef swimming in a spicy, meaty gravy and eating it with the roti was just fantastic.
Talking about fantastic, the three guys at the table behind me invited me to join them for tea. So I went with them further down Burns Road to a chai shop.
They asked me if I had tried Kahwa. Kahwa is a type of green tea that's grown in Pakistan. I had never heard of it before but I'm always open to trying new things.
We sat outside the chai shop, on plastic chairs on the pavement. This is a common thing to do when the weather is pleasant. It was approaching sunset so it was a lot more comfortable than the afternoon Karachi heat.
The Kahwa was fantastic. They made it sweet for me and added some extra ingredients such as clove and ginger. It's said to be a very healthy drink. It was tasty and I'd definitely drink it again.
After we finished our tea, the guys took me to visit the National Academy of Performing Arts, which is where they had previous studied and have now graduated. All are theatre actors.
The NAPA is located in a beautiful, old, historic building that was once an gymkhana. They gave me a full tour of the place and introduced me to students and teachers.
Just like when I was shown the MMA gym and hockey stadium in a previous video, I really wasn't expecting to visit such a place. Karachi if full of surprises and friendly people, so you never know who you are going to meet or where you're going to visit when the day starts.

I would say your comment is partly true . While some generous PPL are still there in Pakistan , there are some evil minded too ., But having said that, we know these Ppl exist everywhere , so really depends on people mindset about (or against ) what they believe ( example : religion?) Honestly these videos have completely changed my perceptions and misconceptions about Pakistan. The people were extremely hospital and really wanted to make sure you had a good time. Very beautiful people as well.

You’ve inspired our traveling family to head to Pakistan this summer! Because of the heat, will stay in Islamabad and travel north from there. Karachi is definitely on our winter travel list.
yes Karachi is unbearably hot in summer as is Lahore, go to Swat Valley and then Hunza,Skardu,Gilgit etc
Good decision. Karachi is very hot and humid in summer time. So is most of punjab.
Islamabad is mild in summer and north is always good during summer.

As a Indian gosh imagine if we just take a train or bus or plane goto pakistan on a weekend... hang around with pakistanis. joke around. party around.. ride around.. drink kahwa.. then come back. Pakistanis do the same... and we joke about the past when we childishly used to stick to our religion and its hate but now everyone is comfortable with their country and there is no more hate.. imagine that.. some day hopefully.

@@cruellamyers Kartarpur is not a good exampple. Its too restricitive and manipulative. All the sikhs are bombarded with big hoardings on the road and everyone one is chaperoned and closely watched. Non-sikhs are not really free to wherever they want. Police and followers everywhere.. Also deep in your heart you know that hindus are less safer in islamic sharia countries than muslims are in Hindu country. thats the way it is. Islam is very trigger happy religion and muslims are way more aggressive and carry their 'Jazbah' on the sleeve So its not the same... But i wish too it will happen when Islam is not taken sooo sseriously and there are no more conversions allowed in both countries...some other century maybe.
