Hey Adam thats Darren Espanto of Calgary Alberta moved to the Philippines to pursue his dream in singing.. And now he is one of the biggestb young talented singer there. By the way he used to be in the Star its a teenage show here in Toronto just before he moved to the Phils.
Darren Espanto is a Filipino singer who was born and raised in Canada. He went to compete in the voice Philippines few years ago.. he really should have won the competition if it were up to the judges, especially Lea Salonga,.. he really was the best constestant there, and I was shock When they announce that he was A runner up. but it was by public voting and symoathy somewhat played a role. This isn’t in English but I think it’s his best. His coach didn’t want him to end with that note ..becsuse it’s the finals and she felt it’s somewhat risky. Those growls were intentional, Filipino singers love to emulate the genre of what they are singing and incorporate a bit of the style of the original singer, that tone and occassional growling reflects the way black singers deliver their gospel songs.
