- Sometimes you just have to figure out a way to get fish to bite. Its not always waiting for the right day or the right conditions. Just doing something away from your norm could be a key.

You and Spencer are my favorite two youtube fisherman hands down. You’re both super down to earth and seem like guys I would love to fish and bs with. Thanks for all the info in your vids Micka!
@@thestonesaver6345 thank you. Yeah we are just regular guys as far as that goes.
The day ended great after starting out with just a little bait. The saying is correct. You never know if you don't go. Be blessed. My brother.
@@user-xv9bi3ne9m thank you
Even tuff days you’re living the dream
@@MikeJackson-b3z thank you. Yeah I definitely enjoy it.
All I can get for bait is bluegill
@@josephdunivan9432 it's definitely a good bait
I’ve had those days where I had to work for my bait-tried the gulp minnows caught fish but give me a red worm or wax worm and do much better and more variety, thanks for what you do-turn 65 next month and this old dog still likes to learn new tricks 😊👍
@@billhodgson4105 thank you. Glad I can help in whatever small way.
When you scale and filet, you put more fish oil in the water
Lol, my dream is to be able to have my struggles to be catching bait!!! Ur the man Buddy! 😂
@@terryrathmel7496 😆 thank you.
Keep after em!
the scales are similar to high quality insulation. Maybe removing the insulation helps the scent spread faster in the water.
@@cflem6252 that's kinda what I was thinking. Good to hear that from you so kinda validates my theory 😀
Another awesome video! I’m glad this trip was better than the last video.
@@djbarker2536 thank you. Yeah me too 😆
Gulp minnows in the jar ,emerald shiner work great here in Texas.
@@theroundman4949 I just found a jar of them. Gonna try them today.
Fished Sunday and your right it seemed as the current was going the opposite way
@@glennmeadows6892 😆 it's weird how it does that.
@@mickaburkhart14 it's like the wind creates a surface current and still has the actual current below it
I have been having some decent bites with just cutting the tails off the bluegills and running the hook through the lower -> upper jaw. I do this on the smaller gills when I am dragging. That's down here in Louisiana.
@@Hailbent I'm gonna give that a shot tomorrow. Thank you for that.
Try a gulp minnow for some blue gill. Worth a shot. Keep grinding my friend. I'm at work so I'll have to finish the video at lunch but thanks for sharing. Appreciate the authenticity of all your videos.... The good and the bad you just keep it real. You are not fake like a lot of other people making content and that's why you are one of my absolute favorites
@@travishanger8604 I do have some of those. I'll give them a shot. I really do appreciate you and your support. I have no reason to be someone I ain't lol. Again I appreciate your support.
Really nice bonus fish
@@travishanger8604 yeah it was. My favorite fish to catch.
Glad you had a great day 👍
@@beverlycurry4370 thank you
Micka great video real nice flathead the bite has been tuff this year i think the weather this year there a little off
@@user-wd9jg5fi3m thank you. Yeah it's has been a little weird around here but luckily I've been able to find a few.
I got lucky a few years ago and found a place on the river not far from my normal fishing spots, about 200yds long that for the last few years at least, almost always has perfect bait size bluegill, 30-45 minutes and I am good for a day or two.
I always take frozen skipjack, chicken breast, and commercial cured carp just in case I can't find any fresh skipjack, whitebass, or bluegill when I get on the river. The frozen stuff doesn't work as well but I have caught decent cats on all of them.
Fresh skipjack has been my best producer, with blugill a close second, but chicken breast also works very well for me.
I haven't been able to fish at all yet this year due to surgeries but when I can get on the river again I want to get some skipjack and try salt curing it. Dave had some good success with that earlier in the year.
@@HomesickforAlaska good deal. Yeah I'm curious about the salt cured stuff. May attempt that my self. If you get a chance I'd like to know your results.
Another great video keep them coming
@@trinityoutdoors thank you
😂😂😂😂 you always have to go get your net, lol
@@billylusk3515 😆. Yeah you would think I'd have it ready by now.
@@mickaburkhart14 was just kidding, it would be in the way if you didnt keep it in the back.
@@billylusk3515 yeah but I never unstrap it or get it ready 😆. Until the first fish.
@@mickaburkhart14 lol you da man though , keep em coming!
Thanks 👍
Man awesome video your sharing of knowledge is awesome awesome
@@michaelknight9112 thank you. I appreciate that.
No doubt, you HAVE created your own success. Both, with those trophy catches and most assuredly with your videos ! With the research, invested effort, acquired skills, and tons of dedication, you sir, deserve every success you seek !
Thank you, for bringing us along so regularly.
@@fredziffel3443 thank you for that. I really do appreciate it.
The scales make it stiff. Scaled and fileted it flutters better
@@JamesSpen that's kinda what I was thinking.
Well Done Micka. I have been having recent success catching a lot of white bass below dams on Foley spoons over here in E TN, although they have been big ones. This is a typical late summer pattern here. Have you tried below dams up there? Hour drive north for you right?
@@markybob_bassplaya1462 good deal. No I haven't tried any dams yet. They will be feeding up heavy on the river here soon once this water temp starts to go a little further down. Then the skips will be back also.
Micka how you feel about them trophy paylakers 😂
@@jacobblankenbeckley445 not a fan by any stretch lol.
Some Days You Get em Some you Don't keeps you wondering some days 😊 try a flapper with a bluegill
@@hunter5858 yeah that's true. I'll definitely try that for sure.
As far as catfishing I only watch you and Dave. His satire is funny sometimes and he like you catches fish. You both admit to your mistakes and neither one of you act like your the end all authority. You both rely on knowledge of the water. Keep the enjoyable videos coming. I am hoping that break your pb of 122.
@@jamesoosterbaan556 thank you for that. I really do appreciate it. Lol I try to break it every day I'm out 😆 🤣
SCALING, keep a small pan, pie plate and submerge the fish, or fillet in water while you scale.. keeps them from flying everywhere!
@@jimbrock8571 that's a dang good idea. Thank you.
@@mickaburkhart14 yes sir! Works great.. keeps Momma happy when you scale whole panfish at home too😂!
@@jimbrock8571 lol I bet it does.
Do you guys do any lake fishing, and what kind of rig do you use.
I don't watch dave no more he cries too much. Have you tried cut up carp shrimp chicken
Lol. I have used carp but not as much as I should to be confident with it. But I can use shrimp and chicken. We'll I used chicken once and caught a couple decent ones.
We all hate it
Fresh bait is the
KEY
Ya have to catch
Fresh before
Catfishing
Period
Some dont get it
🤷
@@cattucky7297 I agree. Fresh bait is a definite must.
