You can also practice scales by ascending a note in the key signature. For example, you play C major then play D to D, E to E, F … etc. all in the key of C.

Yeah that’s works too! It’s technically no longer a scale then but a different technical exercise. 👍

How difficult are runs for you on the oboe? And are they harder when they're in septuplets?
It depends on the scale and key signature. Usually flatter keys are harder on the oboe. And yes, septuplets are harder.
