Along with other original pioneers of the early days of Hip Hop, The Beastie Boys contributed alot to the game... Rest In Peace, MCA You will not be forgotten... 1
Saw the Beastie Boys live in 87. They performed every song off license to ill at the Sacramento amphitheater. The owners tried to shut it down and turn their mics off but the Beastie Boys rallied the crowd and stopped them. They finished the show 👍🏼
@@emanuelolowu7007 Momentary slip up on my part- its been 30+ years. Ironically a lot of Benz signs _were_ getting ripped off too as some kids didn't get the memo.
@@emanuelolowu7007Had to double check that it wasn't my imagination as I recall having a VW badge and being given a Benz one (probably for some Garbage Pail Kids or some shit)..See the paragraph underneath the VW ad:- blog.heritagepartscentre.com/blog/2016/03/15/remember-being-beastied/
Saw them August 16, 1987 at the Spectrum here in Philly. Going into my junior year of High School and my dad HATED hip hop, hated how I loved it and the fact i was going to this concert - he drove me and two friends. I never told him the details of this concert. Big inflatable penis, dancing girls in cages, beer sprayed all over. Profanity galore. I reeked of pot apparently when I back in the car, (honestly it was the first time I ever smelled it! I didn't smoke anything it but was surrounded by those who were--recall the sight 'contact buzz'. Jesus the interrogation I received from my dad when I got in the car...lol
NICE! Yep, they were great times! *Also what kills me back then, being a white kid, dressing in Adidas sweatsuits, the Fila hat, picking up cheap looking sweatshirts with LL Cool J, EPMD, BDP, etc at The Gallery downtown, maybe old Pennsauken Mart - might pick up a pair of "Troop" sneakers (lol), I was teased a lot (There were maybe 2, 3 other kid like me that wore this). Hip hop to many in my school was considered "a joke" Flash forward to today, I like to think us hip hop fans back then were way ahead of the game, we got the last laugh. HipHop now it's considered mainstream. Just a shame the so called talent today is nothing remotely close to what it was in the 80s, early 90s. I can't listen to 99% of it today.
My sophomore year I actually went William Tennent (we moved) and the other white boys wanted to kick my ass for that same shit. This was back when all the white kids got Rush or Ozzy or Zeppelin painted on their jean jackets. If it wasn't for the Puerto Rican kids having my back!! Funny how all white kids TODAY get an automatic pass for liking hip-hop...WE had to work for ours!
I went to the Raising Hell tour at Hammersmith Odeon in September 1986 before all the Beastie Hype.... The line up was RUN DMC, LL Cool J, Whodini and Beastie Boys. It was epic......
Similar story, 1987 saw Beasties at the Hype, but Public Enemy opened for them and I had no idea what was going on except armed black men were aiming at the audience. Found out the next day and got their album!
He wasn't an alcoholic. He had cancer and he was going through many foreign medical treatments. he was a Vegan, He was good friends with the Dalai Lama & a very good father.
Later that afternoon both bands were at the Brixton academy for the 1987 tougher then leather tour! The TV show was called Network 7 not the tube. No problem that you don't know it just great to see it again ! I was at the concert. I was 19
I LOVE that Mike D and MCA are paying more attention to that dog than they are to the interviewer and WTF is this woman's obsession with arm wrestling, geez!
maybe someone else has said in one of these comments but this clip is from Network 7 ( an 80's sunday morning show on C4 uk ) not The Tube. It has a Network 7 indent in the corner at one point too.
Hey mate. This isn't from The Tube. It's from Sunday morning show Network 7 - It even says so on the van as the Beasties walk in to the warehouse, then it comes up on screen @ 4:26 too. I loved this show - looks pretty shambolic now...
Pretty sure that having now grown up that they are cringing in embarrassment at the 'rebel without a pause' cliche...if she wasn't getting paid so much I'd feel sorry for her.
YEs indeed....and check this out too when you get a sec...everyone as a matter of fact and see what students of real Hip Hop have turned out to be...Check out my new vid on my page...So Bay

Beastie Boys talking about Fake News back in the day before fake news was a thing.
lol... the phrase may have been popularized by Trump, but news that was not legit has been around forever since News was even a thing
A LOT of Benz hood ornaments went missing around this time, teachers lecturing us in assembly against stealing them, remember it well lol

"We performed on the show and then we left, because it's Run DMC and you know we're def." You just don't hear freestyles like this anymore.
This was my era what happened to true hip hop
SOUTH RUINED HIP HOP
Tariq Holmes Millenials that like to mumble instead of rhyme with their pants down ruined it
I'm from the South I have to agree with you on that some of the southern rapper's did

This isn't from The Tube. It's from Network 7 and the interviewer is Jaswinder Bancil. I loved this programme.
Wow. I been a Beasties fan for awhile and didn't know hardly any of this info.
D.M.C. lost his voice about 13 to 14 years ago..he said he woke up and that high pitch is what came out one morning with no signs of happening either
Hey mate. This isn't from The Tube. It's from Sunday morning show Network 7 - It even says so on the van as the Beasties walk in to the warehouse, then it comes up on screen @ 4:26 too. I loved this show - looks pretty shambolic now...
Great clip. However its from 'Network 7' which was broadcast around Sunday lunchtime. Not 'The Tube'.
RIP Adam yauch
RIP JMJ 1965 - 2002 and MCA 1964 - 2012
comedic genius proven starting at 1:50 with MCA and his dog-walking excursion talking.
You get top notch cuz you put exclamation points!!! That is like bidding $1 or $501 on The Price is Right... Well played...
"The IBA would not let us show you the Beasties live."
