Not knocking his business too hard, but HOW DOES HE SURVIVE?! I never seen him chagre anybody anything for job. Like his labor rate is $30/hr or something? He's def taking customers away from any shops in the area for sure, but also has to account for gas money getting there!
This was one of the best interactions with a customer since they both were super friendly and even appreciated Parkers time by still giving him some money. 😊
My certified mechanic is great and his certified crew are great guys very honest more honest than the car dealership, I cannot even change my own oil or it would ruin the warranty. I just save all part receipts and receipts from my mechanic. They're out their, just got to look and observe. Good luck man
Of course once the mechanic comes, the behaviour stops. So typical. Very cool of Matt to hang out , ask her to drive it, give it a chance to come back . Making that noise go away is amazing though !!! So wish we had a Parker’s Mobile in my location
You're good man Matthew. I can't count the number of no charge brake jobs I've done. I'm older now and I can't work on cars any more. But I really enjoy watching you help people.
He grew up right... $5 or even a couple dollars to buy a drink goes a long way to say thank you to someone giving up their time to help out ... Matt's customers aren't exactly living with bank accounts full of money and actually those are the people that don't appreciate what he does either... Matt's customers are the type of people that make America better...
There was a guy in my town who quite a wall ago that was working on his car in his garage and his house in the car slipped off the Jack. The bad part was that he did have something under it but it wasn't quite tall enough. The guy lived alone and so he laid there for a couple of days before he died.
I agree with you man jack stands are a must. I work on cars as well I see guys get in a rush and not use them all the time. Luckily I have not witnessed anything happen to anyone but you just never know when a jack can give out.
Love the videos - bro you need to charge for your diagnostic time! You really need to charge something. I know you are trying to be nice but you spend time driving and spend time figuring problems out. You deserve it - if you want to reward subscribers then give them a hat, shirt, bumper sticker something like that. I do appreciate your work and how honest you are - keep them coming. Think about always charging for your time - your drive there and diagnostic time is important. Even stealerships require you to pay 1 hour diagnostic time typically and the customer has to drive there and Wait! So your time is just as important don’t cheap yourself- up front minimum $50-75 to drive and provide a quote then give 50% discount if they do the work.
Keep doing your thing man dont ever get down we all watching an what your doing will never end so good job man keep it going im hoping i can call u one day
There was a time "I know a little, and baby I can guess the rest ". I could buy a Pinto,Rabbit, or Gremlin for literally 25.00 to 100.00 bucks,a fuel pump, ignition components, ie rotor, coil,or just clean things up a bit. I literally could them for another 10,000 to 100,000 miles more... Fuel, fire, vacuum leak, etc. Life in some instances was much simpler. Keep up the good work!
Gradually got used to the sound. It probably loosened over time and eventually she just got used to the sound so it didn't seem out of place. I knew immediately something was rattling once that engine started. Rattling from an engine is never good but thankfully for this lady it was something simple.
a missing cap on the overflow reservoir wont cause overheating, the reservoir is only there to catch excess coolant escaping from the radiator cap and to let the coolant return back to the radiator once the engine is turned off and the coolant temprature starts sinking.
Those tanks would be called expansions tanks and not overflow reservoirs. Those systems are designed in an totally different way. the system in the video does not pressurize the reservoir and the cap wont cause overheating.
@jergibson1981 it’s weird because I’ve had a drain pan full of coolant in the corner of my shop for about 2 years now and it hasn’t evaporated. I guess I gotta keep waiting
I learned mostly everything car on my own in 1998...soon as i learned to drive i wish for the days when it was required to be a mechanic to have a drivers license...like the old days in Italy....I think you are more of a teacher than anything. You should consider teaching Auto Tech at a area high-school I'm not being a jerk I'm serious. Some of these people are beyond reproach I tell ya. 😂😂😂
Unfortunately some charge more not because they’re more skilled at cars, or whatever trade, but they’re more skilled at being a con. Eventually they’ll be as trusted as a politician.
That coolant tank you said needed a cap, sure, so contaminants dont fall into fluid maybe, but its just a overflow reservoir, its not part of the pressurized system, it wont over fill.
Thank parker, that damn alternator was mad annoying. I don't know how you just chilled there with that racket Ida been, whoa, woah, woahhh kill the engine, we taking care of that noise. I'll charge you with two likes on this video. Then do a full front end inspection and a under vehicle inspection.
Always great content parker! But i would have scared them into not driving the car without a coolant resivour cap. Thats 100% why the car overheated. And it only takes 1 overheat blow a headgasket and destroy these weak modern cars. That cap builds pressure which changes the boiling point of the coolant! But im sure you 100% know this!!!! But the owners of said vehical might not understamd the massive risk of deiving without the cap!
That's just an overflow reservoir with an ordinary cap. The cap does not hold pressure and there's actually an open vented port on the upper part of the tank in case the vehicle overheats and the bottle fills up. Overflow cap being missing on an Infiniti G35 will not cause it to overheat, simply because the cap is higher up then the open breather port anyways. You may have some light spillover when the engine is very hot and coolant expands and you take a really hard corner, but that will be visible. Most modern cars these days do tend to use a pressurized reservoir mounted high in the engine bay or a "header tank" though. But this is an older traditional Japanese design using a pressurized radiator and a basic vented overflow reservoir. Not a dig at Matt, huge respect for him and his business and always helping customers out for so cheap, in this case for free. First thing I would've probably popped the radiator cap off and checked the fill level if it was me, though. And if I didn't have combustion leak tester, compression tester, leakdown tester, etc, I'd make sure it's not pouring coolant out when revving up on a cold engine. (indicating headgasket failure allowing exhaust gases to build pressure in an open cooling system with no radiator pressure cap). Again, huge respect/props to Matt and his business.
All your interactions seem awesome. Have you ever helped someone for free, only for it to come back and bite you? Or in my case, they come back screaming at you for work that someone else did after you were there? Shitty feeling man
Yo, Honda water pump is internal to right? Do to it being ran off the timing belt ? And that thing dont sound good at all. Also when she pointed to where it was coming from i knew that was going to be water from her a/c but ya cuz no matter what coolant would be coming that far back unless the back of the motor popped a hole or something crazy
How in a heck can somebody not tighten the alternator bolt here that noise it's making and then just say hey customer it's ready to go? I mean Matthew had to turn that bolt 10 × 2 get it tight WTF was the last guy thinking?
when belt is loose water pump doesnt spin so water is not circulated that why it overheated not because the coolant tank doesnt has cap it even has hole in it already the tank is not sealed or pressurized the pressure cap is not on the overflow tank that only in expansion tank design
Any chance you come to Dallas texas you could look at a truck I have cant seems to figure out why the battery keeps dying I have to disconnect battery to keep it from dying everywhere I go
On these cars there’s a bleeder in the back left corner they broke and if it’s overheating thermostat, the water pump is inside cover hopefully he’s not that

Makes you wonder if some mechanics leave little easter eggs so they have repeat business… loosen up this or that…
I was wondering where the box truck was.
How come she didn't hear that 😮
Gradually got used to the sound. It probably loosened over time and eventually she just got used to the sound so it didn't seem out of place.
I knew immediately something was rattling once that engine started. Rattling from an engine is never good but thankfully for this lady it was something simple.
@husky3g yes all sorted now missing cap and the alternator.
I have chewed rocks before that didn’t make that much noise
a missing cap on the overflow reservoir wont cause overheating, the reservoir is only there to catch excess coolant escaping from the radiator cap and to let the coolant return back to the radiator once the engine is turned off and the coolant temprature starts sinking.
Some overflows are pressurized. Not being able to hold that pressure affects the cooling of the engine.
Those tanks would be called expansions tanks and not overflow reservoirs. Those systems are designed in an totally different way. the system in the video does not pressurize the reservoir and the cap wont cause overheating.
The cap is still needed. Both caps matter. You dont want evaporation on top of it.

The overflow cap has zero to do with coolant pressure
It does though, It can also promote evaporation on top of it.

One way to assure the customer is to leave your ac on and show them the same leak from your vehicle.

That’s perfect
That coolant tank you said needed a cap, sure, so contaminants dont fall into fluid maybe, but its just a overflow reservoir, its not part of the pressurized system, it wont over fill.

Matt is in Tulsa Oklahoma
I thought it was a rod knock from overheating. The resivoir cap helps keep the pressure in the system so it can cool better
Man, oil leaks vs ac runoff should be taught as a norm.

Probably needs a head gasket. They called you for an overheating issue why would you not drive the car. The overflow cap is not the issue
it would’ve overheating when it was sitting for 25 minutes if it was the head gasket
