it's funny how subjective ERB is, most of the fans agree that Caesar, Shakespeare and Vlad won their battles, one could argue that you guys missed the best disses and references, but again, it's all about perceptionl

Caesar decimated Shaka. Look Shaka had one line that sounded hard where he says Ceasers Biography ended with him getting stabbed by his friends…. Except Shaka got killed by his own family so kinda kills that diss especially when Ceaser later hits him with “you can grow my wheat for me after your beaten”. A strong reference to the reason Shaka was killed was refusing to let his tribe grow wheat after the death of his mother which was decimating them thus leading his family to killing him.
That and the fact that the Romans used to enslave their fallen enemies so that line is a second reference to the fact that he would be enslaved by the Romans after he fell in battle and forced to do labor, most notably farming.
Damn we did not know that at all and I’m glad you said so, we usually go back and rewatch if the favor goes to the other person and see what we missed but damn that makes it seem like Shaka really didn’t have any bars against him and if that so….. we definitely need to rewatch, thank you
Also the "ask my kidnappers if I'm just a shit talker" line. He was kidnapped by pirates and held for ransom and he was insulted by how low their demands were that he told them to ask for more. Before he left he told them he'd have them all crucified and after he was released, he hunted them down and did exactly that.
I believe he spared 1 as (if memory serves me) he apologized, and the main reason he went back to kill them was because they said he fucked men, or rather, got fucked by men, which in those times was a big no no (well being the bottom was a big no no being top was perfectly fine and in some cases encouraged to fuck men)

On the line of Caesar saying “ask my kidnappers if I’m just a shit talker”
This is a well known story where Caesar was kidnapped by pirates. When they told him how much his ransom was, Caesar laughed in their faces and demanded they raise it as it was not high enough for him. Afterwards he promised, not threatened, that he would kill them all after he was freed. In their captivity, rather than cower and hide, Caeser participated in exercises, told speeches, and demanded the pirates kept quiet as he slept, acting more like their leader than their prisoner, and they even grew to respect him. After Caeser was freed, he fulfilled his promise and sailed an army to the pirates’ island, took back his ransom as well as all their riches, and had all the pirates crucified, but decided to show them mercy and have their throats slit. Truly a badass.

In the recent battles, no line is wasted. Elno filler, all meanings up to triples. These guys are insane writers. Plus with a lot of traditional tropes and burns relative to battle raps. Been enjoying all these reactions a lot:))
First point of the Poe vs King is that it's not a writer battle but a horror writer battle.
The Steven has a good wordplay propping himself up but he loses for two reasons, he insulted Poe for the opioid calling himself a fiction addiction, ignoring the crack he has done. The second is the perving, where Poe did marry his younger cousin, but not for a relationship, it was more of a fraud scheme for the healthcare she needed.
When the Erb did all the Johns. You knew they had to go hard. This is my favorite one of all time. Rambo was hilarious 😂

Vlad the Impaler vs Dracula has probably become my favorite ERB. The lines for both of them were hella cold and both of their flows were phenomenal.
Voltaire, Alexander the Great, Stephen King, and John Wick to name a few are played by Zach Sherwin who also writes for them. As you can tell, he's good at it lol. If you've seen really early ERBs, they've come a long way because some of those were kinda bad lol.
If you haven't seen it, Lara Croft vs Indiana Jones is a good one. Also pretty brutal lol. Also fun fact, Stephen King saw the ERB and said Poe won lol. David Copperfield and Crisss Angel also saw theirs. I don't know if it's been confirmed, but apparently Lady Gaga saw hers, too.

I feel like dr seuss gets overlooked because a lot of knowledge isnt known about him and his references to Shakespeare arent known.
You could be right and the reason to that I believe is that Shakespeare for a lot of people was introduced in English class at school so people pushed away from learning about him

I love every reaction from you guys to the ERBs so far, but I have to admit I got flabbergasted by the takes on the Vlad vs Drac one, Dracula's second verse always seemed like one of the weakest among the ERBs so seeing you wilding to him admitting he needs to be invited (which is classic vampire lore) to even be able to cause damage was like "Huh..." Still, the beauty of these is you can take it however depending on how you see the characters, so still a great reaction.
There's many subtleties in Julius lines that are hard to catch, but he absolutely was spitting fire the whole time.
For example, when he says "ask my kidnappers if I talk shit" because he once got kidnapped by pirates. The pirates asked a good sum of money to return him back to homeland, but Julius convinced the pirates to ask for more money because he was worth way more than the initially offer; he also warned the pirates that they were all dying anyway no matter how much money they ended up getting. Caesar successfully returned to his homeland and got the pirates hunted down, tortured & crucified.
Also the line about Shaka growing Julius wheat, while many mistakenly take it as racist dig, it's actually a direct reference to Shaka's death, since he died because he refuse to grow weath in his lands, which directly diminishes Shaka's previous punch about Julius getting stabbed by his friends (which were actually his political rivals) since Shaka got killed by his own family.
Overalk, when it comes to historic figures, in an ERB, Julius would be a character tough to beat for the vast majority of other characters, with the exception of just a few. He was HIM during his peak, The HIM.
What y’all need to understand is the English language was a hell of a lot different 400 something years ago when Shakespeare was alive so obviously you weren’t gonna be able to understand a lot of it

Yeah they did that because they wrote the lines in favour of King. They can't have a popular writer whose books have been turned into many movies losing to a literary master who was actually good at the craft but clearly wasn't "hollywoodized". The "perving on your cousin when she was 13" could have also been easily flipped due to King putting a gangbang scene in his IT novel on page 13, which involved 13 yr old boys running a train on their only female friend in the sewer. Of course it got conveniently left out here. ERB is very biased on who they want winning. It can be seen in many of their battles.
