The Pumpkins were one of those bands [like the Pixies, the Eagles, and so many others] that were hideously dysfunctional, but when they could all stand to be in the same room with each other they were post-punk magic.
love the guitar sound for this song, simple to play but so effective, the octaves sound so badass! i love when billy wrote real heavy songs like this...
Mellon Collie was such a crowning achievement for this band. It covered beautiful, sad, heavy... basically all the emotions. Third album I ever purchased at the ripe old age at 9 years old. Still listen to it regularly lol
i used to listen to them alot, but i haven't listened to them in a while then i came across my dad's old CD of them & started listening to em again haha i'm in love with this band now i love the guitar in this :] Smashing Pumpkins is deff. one the best =]
I remember hearing this for the first time in the mid 90's and thinking how amazing the part is where he goes "intoxicateeeeeed with madness! I'm in love with my sadness"
its not always about skill. its about feeling, and that magic click. james and d'arcy and jimmy all contributed to the unique sound that billy created. if you watch live videos of him now he looks like a shell with no soul.
@Joee1257 i laught at people who diss machina, it had some of the best pumpkins songs, just a shame corgan released an album after that. i'll never be happy until james and darcy are back, yes i know im a tool but i can still hope and it doesn't take much thought to realize all the people who think SP never broke up are just corrupting the dream, smashing pumpkins were the deepest band i've ever heard, they are sadly missed, if i was told i could have sp back or live 5 years longer i'd choose sp
The peak of the Pumpkins hating each other (circa ‘96 to ‘98) also coincided with the peak of the Pumpkins as a live band. The simmering rage is vibrating off their instruments.
la velocidad y la duraciòn del tema me hace acordar a los ramones XD Que bueno que ahora voy a poder ir a ver Smashing Pumpkins en Argentina en Noviembre ♫♥
it's just a quick slide over 2 frets with some rather deft ebow skills. jeff (or anyone) could do it, but it's james's "signature" playing that he's not aiming to rip off. james can't really play as dynamically as jeff when it comes down to it. add a little color to your spectrum.
@fleurdupommier the kaleidascope stuff sucks his mixes give the impression that his ears gave finally succumbed as all pro giging musicians ears do at some point, and he was originally a grunger lol so loud music was a must.
@Joee1257 Hmm. Why is it an insult if Billy is the founding member of the band? If he is the one who is responsible for writing the songs? Have you even listened to their latest releases? Zeitgeist may have been a little weaker when compared to the preceding albums but the Kaleidyscope stuff is really good.
@Joee1257 I actually really liked Zeitgest I mean it was no was as good as their first 4 or so albums but it was good. I really hate their new free download stuff, it's terrible
are you serious? I mean, I love James and D'Arcy, but come on, we all know they didn't contribute much to the band and anyways the new lineup is awesome, they sound AMAZING live.
whatever man...your opinion..I like both bands, and I like this cover, even though I love the original. you must have a weird taste in music if you think evanescence is bad...but whatever..
The Pumpkins were one of those bands [like the Pixies, the Eagles, and so many others] that were hideously dysfunctional, but when they could all stand to be in the same room with each other they were post-punk magic.
Carl Hicks Jr they’re not post punk.
Post punk? what the? SP were many things but certainly nothing remotely resembling post punk
Corgan at this time was a hell of a live presence. And the song itself is brilliant, evil swagger all through.
love the guitar sound for this song, simple to play but so effective, the octaves sound so badass! i love when billy wrote real heavy songs like this...
Every heavy pumpkins song is awesome
Mellon Collie was such a crowning achievement for this band. It covered beautiful, sad, heavy... basically all the emotions. Third album I ever purchased at the ripe old age at 9 years old. Still listen to it regularly lol
That scream on "...JUST LIKE MEEE!" is just beautiful. It gave me chills...
I need that Zero shirt, like ,sooo much *-*
Best song they ever did
Wanna go for a ride?
Think that'll be my new pick-up line
So many amazing songs from the 90's that bands today can't even come close to. Dead Sara has that raw energy from the 90's
So beautifully twisted.
they are so cool,,the original band was really perfect
i used to listen to them alot, but i haven't listened to them in a while
then i came across my dad's old CD of them & started listening to em again
haha i'm in love with this band now
i love the guitar in this :]
Smashing Pumpkins is deff. one the best =]
I remember hearing this for the first time in the mid 90's and thinking how amazing the part is where he goes "intoxicateeeeeed with madness! I'm in love with my sadness"
love the scream at 1:21 so much
Emptiness is loneliness and loneliness is cleanliness and cleanliness is godliness and god is empty JUST LIKE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
So primal!
its not always about skill. its about feeling, and that magic click. james and d'arcy and jimmy all contributed to the unique sound that billy created. if you watch live videos of him now he looks like a shell with no soul.
Time to revisit this 14 years later. Now he seems like a shell of a shell.
james iha's soloing is amazing here, 2 of the best guitrists ever who can bith solo very well and play amazing harmonizing riffs in the same band!
you can actually hear D'arcy!
Oh yes, I love this band, d'arc y

That riff is just fucking hypnotizing. So powerful.
Just think when this was uploaded '96 wasnt that long ago.... damn we're getting old
Billy is way too underrated in terms of guitar skills.
This is one of my favorites!! Love the Pumpkins!
Great choice, Mikey!
@Joee1257 i laught at people who diss machina, it had some of the best pumpkins songs, just a shame corgan released an album after that.

The peak of the Pumpkins hating each other (circa ‘96 to ‘98) also coincided with the peak of the Pumpkins as a live band. The simmering rage is vibrating off their instruments.
This is my fave SM song.
he's fucking great, and very sensitive, but i adore all the songs, and the heavy ones rocks!
la velocidad y la duraciòn del tema me hace acordar a los ramones XD
Que bueno que ahora voy a poder ir a ver Smashing Pumpkins en Argentina en Noviembre ♫♥
Aha good one Mikey. The Smashing Pumpkins rule! And this is an amazing song
OMG THE SCREAMS!!! :D
it's just a quick slide over 2 frets with some rather deft ebow skills. jeff (or anyone) could do it, but it's james's "signature" playing that he's not aiming to rip off. james can't really play as dynamically as jeff when it comes down to it. add a little color to your spectrum.

Best reply ever? Yes...yes it is
D'arcy look so cute. And I feel this song really brings out her personality.

Now is the time for the ride
@fleurdupommier the kaleidascope stuff sucks his mixes give the impression that his ears gave finally succumbed as all pro giging musicians ears do at some point, and he was originally a grunger lol so loud music was a must.

@Joee1257 Hmm. Why is it an insult if Billy is the founding member of the band? If he is the one who is responsible for writing the songs? Have you even listened to their latest releases? Zeitgeist may have been a little weaker when compared to the preceding albums but the Kaleidyscope stuff is really good.

@badmagick1234 Doesn't mean they don't look a like.
billy felt the pain when he did that scream xD I think he looks like steiwie from family guy
@Yourfoundations people think billy corgan looks like gerard way
Billy sounds really pissed off!
I guess this songs a bit harder to do live...
haha dont you mean "the shit" as in fucking awesome!!!!?? :D
Riff is up there with Jimmy page at his best.
What is this song talking about, I never got to the point about that. I never actually thought about it before. Can someone tell me?
