The big lad at the start sounded absolutely stunning. Perfect sound for me, with amazing playing of course Ben, well done as always. If i were to play it would sound like a £50 Argos special im sure
I already own an amazingly good sounding J-45. It took about 12 years for that guitar to really open up, but man, I couldn’t wish for anything more and it’s hard to imagine it might even going to sound better than it already is. Having said that… I remember in the late seventies I saw Emmylou Harris playing an all black J-200 and that’s been my dream acoustic from the moment I started to play acoustic guitars. So if I could take one home it would most definitely be the SJ-200 Custom. Not only is it a black SJ-200, it is the most beautiful SJ-200 I’ve ever seen. With these custom appointments it also matches perfectly with my black Gibson ES-347 (same neck style etc.). It’s funny that I remember that guitar of Emmylou Harris. I was only 9 or 10 years old at the time and I only got my first guitar when I turned thirteen. But it was the sight of this fragile young and beautiful woman holding a gigantic guitar that made her look like a skinny dwarf that literally made me laugh and I never forgot. UNFORTUNATELY this guitar is completely unobtainable to me. I know Gibson can’t make a cheap SJ-200. I get that. But why don’t they make a J-150, which is basically a 200 without all the bling bling, make it a standard model in a few colours (black being one of them) and sell it for a price between a J-45 and a Hummingbird. It would still be a lot of money, but I would do anything to save for it and get it. A man can dream, can’t he? 🖤
I have an old 1950s Gibson L48 acoustic that's in serious need of repair. The sides are starting to let go of the body, the binding is coming off, and I'm sure the neck needs some work as well. My dad played it back in the 50s when he was playing bluegrass with Bill Box and the Dixie Drifters. They did a couple albums and had some moderate success- then they all started getting married and having kids and the whole thing fell apart. But yeah- in good shape I think they go for around 2-3 Gs- I need to get it repaired and sell it. But in reality, I'll spend so much fixing it- I doubt I could make 500 bucks off it.
@@chrisjohnson9300 Dont be that, you never know what life got stored for you. I should been dead at least twice, but live and got more guitars and gears I ever thought I would have.
Ben & The Team When Are We Going To See The Epi 1957 J200 Gibson Inspired Comparisons With The Gibson Equivalent? Or Are They That Close Now Now, Gibson Don't Want Us To Know 😂 I'd love to see the comparison Between Gibson, Epi And Sigma. The Epi And Sigma Are Very Very Good Equivalents
It feels like they just pluck a number out of thin air, then double it in the knowledge that plenty of people will pay 3 grand for a guitar and 5 on top for a particular name on the headstock. Gibson are on a mission to become Rolex of the guitar world.
Can't understand how guitars this expensive dont come with a pickup that sounds better! Surely they could do better than an under-saddle piezo at that price!
Why would you plug them in when they sound infinitely better through the mike. Gibson's just have that certain tone unlike anything else. I have a J-45 50's and I want those 3 to keep it company. lottery win depending
Hi ben, iv,e got a 2009 songwriter dlx custom with the rounded shoulders, with the pretty fingerboard& headstock, dont know if many like this were made? Any help on this ben?🫡
Nothing says custom shop quite like covering the top, sides and back wood in uniform, opaque finish. Not a fan of black guitars in any shape or form, but seems especially egregious with custom shop luthiered acoustics.
I bought the hummingbird in the US for 5.5k. Love that full sound and short scale!
I agree Ben, the J-45 is my fave but they all are cool! great playing!
I have the Custom SJ-200 and I LOVE it!
Man... The J45 sounds stellar
Loved the Songwriter fingerpicking!
Yes, as far as fingerpicking was concerned it was the pick of the bunch.
I have a J-200 Standard Sunburst, but I’m seriously considering one of these Custom J-200s.

What song is that at 8:50? Sounds super familiar

Playing is awesome as usual do you make your own music? Would love to own one of those....
Epiphone version of this PLEASE 🎉
epiphone has a j200
@@BassRacerx not that color combo
that would be a huge selling point for sure, would buy all three in a heartbeat
The J-45 is very nice mic'd
I want to hear you compare the new Epiphone Inspired by Gibson 1957 SJ-200 to a Gibson SJ-200.
Came for the Guitar ...stayed for the playing
Me too
Came for the guitar, but again it happened, I am going home my hands empty, without buying anything 😂😂.
Knowing I will never own one of these guitars, I honestly just clicked this video for Ben’s playing as it is absolutely mint!

Time to hit the studios
Perhaps when I win the lottery. That SJ200 cost more than my car lol.
The big boy... Great big boomer... ❤
Richlite??
No thank you at $9500 Au… That’s local bespoke commissioning pricing if you want a guitar that’s truly “custom shop”. 👍🇦🇺
It feels like they just pluck a number out of thin air, then double it in the knowledge that plenty of people will pay 3 grand for a guitar and 5 on top for a particular name on the headstock. Gibson are on a mission to become Rolex of the guitar world.
Sorry but you are totally wrong on the price. The SJ is $17000 Au.... If you mean that one...... 😗😁
@@mylogify Confirms I can’t afford one. Crazy.. 👍🇦🇺😂

The SJ costs HOW much!?!? 😳
£8,799

I’ll keep my 814ce Taylor
My 714 Taylor eats the Gibson alive.
THE SONGWRITER!!!

How much is it
£4,800
The links for the prices are in the description.
Too much
thanks gibson for hear my request make gibson acoustik custom with diamond logo on head stock ☺🤩😍
$J-200 from the Gib$on Cu$tom $Hop…🧐
Could you please slow down on the finger picking I’m trying to play along lol

That will be £50k for you sir 🙂
When I see Gibson Custom Shop acoustics I have to click away because I know the money is going to be crazy out of reach.
No, come back man, you missed it, it was cheap! Only 9500 Euro.
He looks like Dr. House 🤣
😂
It’s Ben sick? He’s lost so much weight
No, I just got in shape! 😊
Awesome man! I meant nothing by it, but your weight loss is most definitely noticeable!! Keep it up 💪🏻
Yeah, that’s just what I want, an acoustic who’s G string never stays in tune.
And the headstock falls off if you look at it wrong. 🤣🤣🤣
@@Hayhurstb facts
Overly ornate, and my 000-15M sounds better.
Who is actually buying Gibson acoustics? The prices are outrageous
Only 9500 Euro man, it's as cheap as a very tiny decent house, but you can also live inside of this guitar, if you are small enough.
Rock stars? Investors?
I bet they don’t sell many.
The price is rediculous. WHAT A F**KING RIPOFF!!!!!! DO NOT REMOVE THIS COMMENT!!!
The Guild mahogany acoustics sound WAY, WAY BETTER!!!!!!!!!! Much fuller and warmer sounding!... And I mean WAY!!!!!!!!!!
Plugged in sounds pretty much like my $900 Taylor 🫢
You are not wrong
It's a Gibson, so your $900 Taylor probably stacks up well against it unplugged too
My guitar is that Taylor also! Plays like a dream. Would love a Gibson. If I found one.
Guess they are qualitywise about equall, but the Gibson custom cost 10 times more.
Yeah it will always be a cheap piece of junk ! Taylor is the most overrated guitar made
