Loved your reaction to the Donna/Josh meetcute! By the way, Janel Moloney's journey from bit player to full time cast sort of parallels her character. She was originally hired for only a few appearances but was determined to make herself indispensable, so she originated the flirting idea, that Donna was in love with Josh. Bradley Whitford said that to this day when casting directors want to interest actors in a bit part that can become fulltime, they call it a "Janel Moloney" role.

This episode, and the previous episode aired as a two-hour season premiere, and so the audience had all the back stories in one night.

Just a slight point I don't think Bartlet has won enough delegates to be the nominee after Illinois, but as Sam says in that flashback scene, 'If we win Illinois we're gonna run the table'which is why Josh wants Bartlet to get back and give his speech in primetime and then move on to California. So it's the night the campaign's momentum becomes unstoppable, and he becomes the overwhelming favourite to beat Hoynes and win the nomination, thus they end the airport scene with his acceptance speech at the convention.

I’ll never forget the Iowa Caucus for Obama - seemingly out of nowhere he clobbered Hillary Clinton! The world turned upside down.
Thanks for your podcast, I enjoy it.

No, Donna plays the classic ditz (she’s even blonde with her mouth open most of the time) - not sure why you ‘love’ her story.
So much for great female candidates of the earlier convo!
The women in this show - aside from Marlee Matlin - are here to serve and be subservient to and ‘work for’ men.
