I'm 33 and just now found out how to make so many things and at a cheaper price, I'm giving some of these things as Christmas gifts. Love your channel so much thank you.
I’m about to be 31 in February. I’ve been slowly learning too,& honestly I love it. So much cheaper and less stressful financially, don’t need to really ever worry about running out since I just make my own. Way less chemicals and safer for my family & pets. Also I’m not supporting big companies that are destroying our planet. The feeling of accomplishment is nice too.
I made this with suave waterfall mist.and a few drops of Hawaiian mist warming oil and it smells amazing! I added the conditioner to the hot water before the vinegar and it dissolved quickly. This recipe literally took me less than five minutes! This is a keeper recipe!! Thank you so.much!!
Sounds terrific! As long as you use fabric safe oils ... no problem! You should watch my how to make dryer balls and booster crystals video. Saves me tons.
I have! I made the laundry detergent, dishwasher soap and softener last night, takes no time at all! I am cheating and ordering the dryer balls , that will cost me less.
You can get the little spiky rubber balls at dollar general store on the cheap ... they work well too. Just be sure and add a minimum of 3 to 5 balls in each load. This helps fluff, and get wrinkles out of clothes, even jeans. The more balls the more time it reduces off drying time. I like the wool balls because you can scent them. I just sit them in a jar with my dryer sheets and or my laundry crystals and toss them in dryer. Gives scent to my dried clothes. Hope you enjoy saving money on laundry!
I love making this, especially in times like these. I followed this exact same recipe, but instead of a wooden spoon, I used a whisk so that it all breaks down faster. Thanks for sharing!
I use a gallon milk jug ( washed out). Pour the bottle of cond. straight in jug. Mix in 1/2 gallon hot hot water. Them shake the dickens out of it. Until it completely dissolves. Then add vinegar The add more hot water to fill up the rest of the way shake. Done nothing to clean up
Do you skip the borax then? I wonder if you can use any conditioner. I’m trying to be cruelty free, although I just found out from the video before this the zote soap I use is from animals,so I’ll have to look for the right swap.
Moments formoms I would never put Borax in my detergent or softener. Google how kids are having seizures due to making homemade “slime”. It gets on their hands, into the bloodstream and straight to their brain. I used to make laundry soap with Borax just like every other recipe on Pinterest. Not only did it not clean our clothes good but I started feeling sick all the time. I’m willing to bet that my triple negative breast cancer was from keeping my cel phone in my bra but who knows? It could’ve been the homemade laundry soap OR a combination of several things including eating tons of fast food for 20+ years.
@@LetHimCook0497 you are not supposed to play with this you are to use it on clothes and if you watch her laundry soap video she states you don't need borax if you need to make it for a sensitive person
It’s washed off,it’s not a toy. Those people who made slime with it are idiots. I went through multiple blogs, and probably videos. I read thousands of comments from people who had used it for years/decades and even yes ones who just stared because I went to the comment section on every blog/site and read every one even if there were 500comments. I’m sorry about your cancer but having a cell phone close to you emits a ton of radiation and there’s even studies if killed brain cells,it’s even worse on low battery. Eating fast food is nothing but man made chemicals and toxins so I’m sure that played a huge part as well. Your bad choices aren’t going to scare me into doing something right for my family when they don’t even go together. I will look into it but if there’s no connection other than slime I’m going to keep making it. I only use it occasionally anyways. I do use regular detergents, which honestly are just chemicals and water so not any better.
SabrinaAnnSmith Ive seen people buy pretty pieces of fabric and cut it into 5x5 pieces and keep them in containers full of softener. Then they throw them into the dryer as dryer sheets. It looks really cool!
After I made this video I played around with the mixture a bit more and ended up adding more scents to mine (lemon, coconut and lime extracts) and about 1/8 cup borax. It thickens up perfectly now! I also mix coconut conditioner with strawberry suave conditioner and it smells heavenly when adding the extracts too. My friends love the scent of the coconut lime strawberry softener. My house smells good when I make it too! LOL
Just made your receipe. Cost me $1.10, I had conditner i didn't want to use on my hair, but it smells great. Fabric softer $7.60 for a bottle. That's a huge savings and I know what's in mine. Thanku Janie bless u.
Yes, I do that too. I store those 'handi wipes' rollled up in an old clorox wipes container (relabled dryer sheets) and pour in either downy or my liquid softener and that works really well. I also use wool dryer balls that are spritzed with softener as well. These save drying time. LOVE THEM!!
Just wanted to say thanks a million for sharing your laundry detergent and fabric softener recipes!!!! I feel duped having paid $20.00 per gallon of detergent for years! The laundry detergent cost will be $2.00 per gallon the first round since I had to buy all the ingredients but one to get started (the price includes the bucket). This is not only cheaper, but better for our environment. My granddaughter has severe excema and I will try the baby version as well. You are a blessing! Please keep the videos coming. I can't wait to see your hair conditioner video. ❤️❤️❤️
i make this all the time . i love to pour some of this into a half gallon container with a lid. throw a new sponge into it and every time you need softener sheets , grab the sponge and squeeze the excess out and throw the sponge into the dryer with the clothes . ofter clothes r done toss the sponge back into the container with the softener for the next drying load . sometimes i do this and sometimes i pour some of the softener into the washing machine also . doing both works great also . this is just what i do . just my suggestion . have a great weekend ahead !!! oh also i never mesure the hair conditioner i try to find the cheapest but the best smelling and sometimes i'll find the one that says 30% more { bigger bottle for same price } . i throw it all in . but i really love the idea of the tbs. of borax to thicken it up. ty for that tip . i will try the borax next week when i make more . i keep giving it away , all my friends love it !!! i think ill just show them how to make it. lolol
I simply adore you....taking me back to my Amish roots of self sufficiency. I find your channel a refresher course for things I learned earlier in life about self sufficiency...which I have come back to in my later years. You are a blessing in my life and I ask God to bless you today and always. AGAIN...THANK YOU.
I love this! Thanks so much for letting me know this!! It does my heart good to hear I'm helping in some way, others who need to get back to the basics again. BLessings to you and yours, hon!
I put my conditioner in hot tap water to melt it while the water is boiling. Saves me a lot of time mixing because there’s not a lot of clumps to break up. Then I reuse the bottles 😀
Yes. I add lime or strawberry ess. oil to mine to boost the scent too. Just as long as the oils don't 'stain' white or colored clothing you may use it. Coconut extract works great in mine too. YUM!!
It will add air and create a foam to the top and will take a really long time to wait for any foam to settle but you reminded me there is a whisk that is only at the very bottom of a handle and by pushing down on the top of the whisk handle it only agitates and spins the whisk beaters below the liquid surface..i think you can buy them at Daiso. They are shaped like an egg beater whisk..
Yeah, when camera is off I go back and scrape the goodies from measuring cups. For 'quick' camera purposes, I pour and set aside. LOL>> Nothing goes to waste here!! Enjoy!!!
I discovered this out of desperation with very hard water in my area!! I only used hair conditioner. The customers at the laundromat looked at me like I was a lunatic, but it worked OK. I know this recipe will be the answer to some of my softening questions..Thank you!
Hard water can easily solved. Go to Lowes or Home-depot and get Salt Pellets and melt it and put in your Mixture. About 10% and it will soften your Water.
Thanks so much for sharing this great video/ recipe!! I just made some with the coconut conditioner and wow the clothes smell so great and they are so soft after coming out of the dryer!! Thanks soooo much!! I didn't add the borax because i didn't need to thicken it up!! THANKS THIS WILL SAVE ME SOO MUCH MONEY!!!
it works!!!! no static cling either -- i love it, my clothes smell great -- it's funny cause i get complements on me smelling good, a week after i've washed my shirt.. i use the green apple, thank you Janie Pendleton
Glad it worked for you too! Some will say they smell the vinegar in the mixture after rinse cycle, but I don't. I just smell a bit of the coconut or strawberry, or like you said, the green apple scent. And my closet smells fresh when I open the door from the years of using this recipe. I love it!
Amazing! I made the fabric softener using the suave refreshing waterfall mist which cost $1.49. It smells like Downy. You're great. I can't wait to try it. I'm making the laundry detergent tonight following your instructions as well. Thank you very much!!
This is not chemical filled so your clothes will not smell as 'perfumed' as with the store-bought softeners/detergents..so try my 'citrus booster crystals' or my 'scented dryer balls' (videos on my channel page) and you'll get more scent. Also, I have a video on how to make "zote pre-treater/stainremover' as well. Suave will have coupons out once in a while and that is when I stock up." Dollar Store has sauve at a good price as well. I mix strawberry and coconut! Blessings!
You are so right; it is costing so much to survive that people are having a tough time. Everyone is trying to find ways to save money. I personally am making everything I can. Use what you have and re-purpose it. I haven't bought a new item in over 20 years; and I don't feel deprived; I feel like I am smarter then the next guy.
I save my vinegar containers and make triple-sized batches...and buy my conditioners in bulk whenever on sale at dollar store...last week I picked up the extra large cond. for a buck each at dollar general. That's a $4.99 savings from store-bought brand I was using before I discovered making my own is better for environment, easy on my wallet and less headaches overall. I'm happy camper too!!
Really good to see this!!! I make my own detergent with borax, bar soap and arm & hammer washing soda and I love that, done it for years.... but this the 1st fabric softeners I’ve seen..... thank you ever so much!!!
Im so glad you are showing this because every fabric softener i buy they close my sinuses up and I end up getting a headache for hours on end..So this is great for me...Thank you chick...NIce vid..
Hi Janie - After studying your videos and a few others here on making your own Laundry Detergent, Stain Remover, Fabric Softener, I decided to take the plunge. I made all three and intend on sharing my overabundance in laundry aides with my Son and his family for Christmas, Sunday. They have two kids 1 and 3 and laundry doesn't stop happening in their house. Been doing a few test runs the last couple weeks and have been very pleased so far - that was until tonight when I first made the fabric softener and tried it on the loads I am doing now...Everything smelled so fresh and clean when I put the load in the dryer however, when I went down to grab that load a short time ago, there was so much electricity coming off those clothes I feared they might set the laundry basket on fire! :-) - The worst static cling I've seen. I grabbed a few wet pieces waiting their turn and tossed them, a couple dryer sheets and the mother of all static cling laundry loads back in the dryer. I'm trying to now figure out how to present this to the kids Sunday except for saying "Your clothes will smell great but you will still need to add dryer sheets" - "But think of the savings you will still have since dryer sheets are a fraction of the cost of fabric softener. Followed your recipe to a "T" = any suggestions or quick fixes before Santa delivers the goods? Thanks - and really enjoy your videos.
Oh wow! It is wintertime and static is worse this time of year; I've not had a static issue since I owned a high-heat gas dryer. My electric dryer does not get nearly as hot and is better for my clothes; not as much shrinkage. Here are a few tips that I do give others with static issues in their part of the world: 1.) Since static develops from the friction of clothes rubbing against each other, adding an object like a dryer ball to the mix can add a layer between clothes which prevents them from accumulating the electrical charge which causes static and static cling. Other benefits of dryer balls include keeping your clothes separated and very fluffy. Dryer balls cut drying time by 2% each load or more! I keep my dryer balls in a large jar filled with softener sheets. This keeps the scent, and the static free chemicals on the yarns and each load smells so wonderful! And, when load is done, just plop them back in scented dryer sheet jar. no need to actually use the dryer sheets themselves. The jar sheets work to keep the dryer balls cling free sheets for over a year before replacing sheets/using the sheets up at the end of the year is what I actually do and buy a new box and start all over. Here is my link to make your own dryer balls: th-cam.com/video/GjTtHckJ6jU/w-d-xo.html OR...you can buy them off ebay from actual sheep farmers or other who make/sell them. I have both kinds. But the homemade 100% felting wool balls are heavier and work the best (albeit louder in the dryer) ...:) 2.) Use a ball of crumpled up foil to discharge static the last few minutes of drying. 3.) Reduce heat on dryer to a lower setting if possible during winter months. These are just a few ideas to reduce static issues.
Awesome! I give them as Christmas and birthday gifts! Easy to make and work! Merry Christmas and Happy New Years! Let's all make 2017 a great year!! Whoo-hoo!
Hey Janie... Thank you so much for this link...How on Earth I passed by this huge title, I will never know...But I am Headed to Walmart this weekend to get the ingredients to do this and the Laundry Soap too!!! Love you's guys xo... Blessed Be and Smooches...
+The Grey March Hair You'll love these recipes. Make the detergent in eitehr liquid or powder form... I have a video on how to do both posted on my channel. Just put in Laundry and they should all pop up! :p
I understand.Time is everything! I love the idea of using Walmart's water jugs from the self-serve section. I think they look quite adorable for storing your laundry soap! I've never gotten water from Walmart before. Another heavy duty plastic jug that I like is the one from the unsweetened 100% apple juice by White House. It is a gallon size but it looks larger than that to me, and it's very durable.
I tried this and it works great without the thickener. I like results verse trying to make it look like the store purchased stuff. thanks so very much for sharing.
You are welcome! I wished more people had that attitude and we'd all be chemical free in no time! :P Borax does add a bit brightening power in the rinse as well.
Janie Pendleton In the spirit of experimentation, I will try some borax in the next batch. I just received a batch of Glycerine, may try a tablespoon to see what happens. Thank you again.
Glycerin in my homemade laundry detergent keeps it from separating; try using a stick blender as well. I've heard tale that can help...but I think shaking it before use for a few pennys vs high dollar store-bought is worth a few shakes, rattles and rolls! LOL>>
Janie Pendleton I agree, I recently tried some Zoto Soap for Laundry detergent and it does not separate like other bar soaps and I like the smell. Good stuff for a buck.
I've been making my own fabric softener for over 2 yrs now, using basically the same recipe. I use 3 cups of white vinegar however. I use white vinegar in all of my homemade cleaning products, and I re-use an empty 1 gallon container for my softener. I pour the hot water in, the conditioner ( I use VO5, usually on sale at CVS or Walgreen's, and stack store/mfg coupons to get it at 38c per bottle!) then 3 cups of the white vinegar and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE. =) Mixes just fine and thickens as it cools!!
I have some Vo5 I've not used yet...but got it on sale at dollar store a few weeks back...I buy what's on sale with coupons...try to keep price down. I have to like the scent though and stick to coconut or citrus smells...fruity scents for me! LOL>>
@ shelby I: Yes, it is an important ingredient. It not only thickens the liquid, but helps keep it for long-term storage. It whitens whites and brightens brights while naturally softening hard water - which in turn helps your detergent stay dissolved in the water - where it can work on cleaning your clothes better. It is an odor eater, and it gets out stains like grease or grass stains. I'd wait to make until you have the Borax. Order it on Amazon.com or find it on ebay. They sell it at walmarts and dollar stores. It's pretty easy to find in the usa and canada. Are you in USA?
@@rachellewansley3213 It can, but what I do is dilute it in a spray bottle - spray it onto a damp washcloth, and toss it in the dryer with the cloths. So far so good.
@Rose Odile Brooks: Yes! It is safe for clothes; just get the cheapest you can find. Suave works great. I do not get conditioner for color treated hair though...I found they put more 'oil' in the conditioner and that can stain clothes...or at least it did for my towels when I tried it. Best wishes!
Chef Janie thank you your a life saver and I can't believe that I'm bearly finding out how to make this at 48 that's a shame ... But better late than never right? I'm a new subciber as well to your channel my journey begins here learing from the best God bless and be safe !💜💜💜💜
I fill up to the 'fill line' mark on my washer. But if you're using a downy ball, fill that up and if you are measuring use 2 downy cups for more softness and odor control.
What an awesome video and I so much appreciate your showing us all how to save $$$ on products like this that are SO costly!! I am going to give this a try right now!! Looking forward to watching more of your videos and will be subscribing to your channel. God Bless....
I use a reused 2qt juice container with 3 cups water, 2 cups vinegar, and 1 cup suave conditioner. Shake it all up and sprinkle on the wet clothes as they go in the drier -it works awesome! I can buy 3 cups of suave conditioner for about $2.00.
Janie, you mentioned homemade shampoo and conditioner. Did you ever make a video on those? I can't find it. If you have, would you post the link? Thanks for that, and for all your great videos.
I am so fortuitous for coming across your video on homemade laundry detergent and softener. I am struggling a bit supporting my daughter and granddaughter . This is certainly worth a try. Thank you so much. ❤👍🌹
6 cups of water 2 cups of white vinegar 2 cups of any scented conditioner Thank you so much I put the measurements for the rest to see as I took down my own notes

Personally for me, I like hard copies of books. If it is a really good book, I will want to read it probably a couple of times. E books seem just too impersonal for me. I will read everything you write. I loved your book. I am honored that you asked me. Thank you.
+Rachele Kelly That is the way I feel about it too; am wondering why so many ebook readers are being sold and so few paper/hardcover books are being sold; our bookstores are all closed now, our library is hardly used for reading (mostly when someone's internet goes down they go there to do homework), and our book factory here closed last month. Barnes & Nobel here are all gone...etc...it is just sad to see good jobs and smell of a new book fall to the wayside. But, you can get an ebook for .99 cents vs the paper version for 10 bucks and ppl I guess think that is more important that the read itself.
Hi, Janie-Just finished making my first batch if your softener. We love the laundry soap and have 20 gallons made. This was very easy to make and my conditioner melted without putting it back non the stove. Can't wait to try this. My mom bought many bottles of conditioner before she passed so I should be set for awhile. When is your "do it yourself" book coming out?
+Rachele Kelly I'm hoping by summer; I just started a new Historical Romance Novel yesterday and already placed 1400 words on the manuscript; it usually takes me a week or two of long days of researching the storyline and plot before I can really get typing what is in my head. Question? Would ppl rather have a 50 page ebook or a 200 page paperback? The ebooks sell for .99 each and paperback will sell for about 9.00 each. I trying to decided how long of story I should write. There is not much money in writing books for the author...I only write for the fun of it. :P What do you think?
Sooo what’s the best smelling combination for doing this I want to make some but I suffer from chronic migraines and smells are not my best friend I need something that lasts and smells soapy
I made this finally! my clothes stunk like vinegar, lets hope your laundry detergent is not a let down-i just made it 2 hrs ago.i know i have to let it sit 8-10 hrs stirring inbetween but i pray its not a let down like this fabric softener
Something wasn't right...I don't get the vinegar smell. Try cutting the mixture with more water and it sounds like you have a HE machine that doesn't use a lot of water in the rinse cycle...?? I've not had anyone else complain... I love the stuff! Did you use white or Apple Cider vinegar??? Something wasn't right???
i used white vinegar,i just remade it using a big bottle of juciy apple suave conditioner &it came out perfect. i made the laundry soap &it came out great butits not a good strong smelling detergent.iused what u used &i even added my gallon jugs half way with water-that dilluted the detergent i thought &cut alot of that great smell in half to wear i could barely smell a scent in my clothes when i did laundry....next time i am not going to add all that extra water because when my clothes came out of the washer it had a great smell but when i dryed my clothes in teh dryer the smell was gone when they were done :(.....should i add more essential oil in next time-last time 1 whole lemon extract-i thought that would add scent,it didn't! would essential oil make this laudry soap stronger.Maybe its just me i don't know but i was hoping the laundry soap would of had a good strong smell to it like the downy unstoppables fabric softener. How can i give the laundry soap detergent a stronger smell where i can actaully smell it in my clothes when it comes out of the dryer? thanks chef janie :)
Add the downy unstoppables to the machine...but homemade is void of all the expensive chemicals and scents...that is the idea of making it yourself...stops itching, migraines, cleaner water sources for the community...store-bought covers your dirt with scent and you think your things are clean...this actually cleans the clothes and leaves behind 'clean' smell. Add more ess oils...or use wool dryer balls that have sat in a large glass jar with fabric sheets or ess oils sprinkled on them...just be careful not to spot your clothes with the ess oils...use laundry safe ones. Best of luck!
I just use 1 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle. It's the best! And no chemicals. It also helps to set colors, so darks don't fade. But beware, vinegar will set stains. If you don't prewash stained materials, you might not want to use vinegar.
TY so much! You are an excellent trainer. With the world going coocoo, there are no guarantees for income and benefits. Young people want finished products. Don't have time. When these products are gone, uh oh. My mom taught me to use whatever on hand to make similar stuff when income or benefits go down. Put the difference $ in a jar for backup. It's not a long time to learn, keeps you busy and saving $ on top.
I'm surprised how easy your fabric softener is to make, TY for sharing your 'recipe' ! In your video after emptying the hair conditioner, you mentioned using the container to store homemade shampoo or conditioner. Would you please consider sharing how you make these too. Thank you Janie. Gretchen
I tried it once and it weighed my clothes down with a greasy film...especially on my dressier tops. My jeans felt like they had Vaseline on on them. Color treated shampoos are gentler on hair, but the conditioners are heavier on oils. You can try it and see what you think. Plus it is more cost effective to use reg. Suave or sale conditioners...color treated conditioners usually cost more and that is not as economical. Tx for commenting!!
Just a little tip... Youre not suppose to use fabric softener on jeans. It wears them down faster they arent that thick material they were meant to be and they streach out and stop fitting properly faster.
@@danicalemaster8313 just a quick comment. I've been putting fabric softener in my jeans for over 30yrs and have jeans from high school that are all in excellent shape and holding strong. That's just bull....
I just started watching your videos and LOVE them! I made the liquid laundry detergent today and it came out great! Do you have any recipes for liquid dish soap for those of us that wash by hand? Or anything that works great for hardwood floors? Thanks so much for taking time to share!!
I would omit the salt (can stain clothes) and just use the conditioner and vinegar and water. No need to thicken with Borax either. I just added the borax one day and liked the way it took the odor out of the clothes in final rinse, but, vinegar does the same thing anyway. So, don't even add the borax as it's not even necessary!!
I love your channel ! I use this fabric Softener recipe of yours all the time now. Thank you so much for sharing! I also have a suggestion as well.. I saw another youtube channel on how to make fabric softener and He infuses the vinegar with an essential oil(say.. lavender) and lets it soak in the Vinegar for a few hours to a week. I am currently combining your method with his (infusing the vinegar for an extra scented load ) I cant wait to try :)

After I made this video I played around with the mixture a bit more and ended up adding more scents to mine (lemon, coconut and lime extracts) and about 1/8 cup borax. It thickens up perfectly now! Sheela Thackor Bhaga suave!
We don't get that here in South Africa
Thank you for all these wonderful ideas in saving money. I now have to make this fabric Softener without them seeing me do it 🤣😂
@@sheelathackorbhaga7871 use any cheap hair conditioner
i make this all the time . i love to pour some of this into a half gallon container with a lid. throw a new sponge into it and every time you need softener sheets , grab the sponge and squeeze the excess out and throw the sponge into the dryer with the clothes . ofter clothes r done toss the sponge back into the container with the softener for the next drying load . sometimes i do this and sometimes i pour some of the softener into the washing machine also . doing both works great also . this is just what i do . just my suggestion . have a great weekend ahead !!! oh also i never mesure the hair conditioner i try to find the cheapest but the best smelling and sometimes i'll find the one that says 30% more { bigger bottle for same price } . i throw it all in . but i really love the idea of the tbs. of borax to thicken it up. ty for that tip . i will try the borax next week when i make more . i keep giving it away , all my friends love it !!! i think ill just show them how to make it. lolol
kathy jo tourtois
the duggars used sponges.
Wow thank u!
Wow, never knew yoy could do that with the sponge, cool beans. thanks for sharing..
Does it really softens clothes good
I simply adore you....taking me back to my Amish roots of self sufficiency.

YUM!!
I've tried it & the results are Grrrreat! Wonderful Wonderful results, thanks
I think using a wire wisk would be a lot easier and quicker to get the clumping.
Add water to the conditioner a little at a time and mix. It doesn’t have to be boiled either.
If u put the conditioner in the pan b4 the vinegar, then u can use the empty conditioner bottle 2 measure AND rinse out the conditioner bottle. 🙃
Great tip! Thanks for sharing it! I did rinse off camera...ppl like short DIY videos...so we cut and edit where we can!
it works!!!! no static cling either -- i love it, my clothes smell great -- it's funny cause i get complements on me smelling good, a week after i've washed my shirt.. i use the green apple, thank you Janie Pendleton
Blessings!
Amazing I made the fabric softener and love it thanks Janie
You are so right; it is costing so much to survive that people are having a tough time. Everyone is trying to find ways to save money. I personally am making everything I can. Use what you have and re-purpose it. I haven't bought a new item in over 20 years; and I don't feel deprived; I feel like I am smarter then the next guy.
rebecca Shetter I find I'm organizing rooms just to re-purpose my stuff and update it! It does become a hobby, almost! LOL
I love that sentance " nothing is thrown away".⭐
Omg!!!!! so easy and in minutes....thanks a lot for sharing...For sure my family is going to have some extra money....very happy family!!!!!!
How do you mix as dry washing powder or as liquid .pls reply .
And how much all the ingredients.
Thank you sooo much for this information My wife just watched and said you are the best God Bless
Im so glad you are showing this because every fabric softener i buy they close my sinuses up and I end up getting a headache for hours on end..So this is great for me...Thank you chick...NIce vid..
Me too! I get a migraine just walking near the detergent isle in stores.
Here are a few tips that I do give others with static issues in their part of the world:
1.) Since static develops from the friction of clothes rubbing against each other, adding an object like a dryer ball to the mix can add a layer between clothes which prevents them from accumulating the electrical charge which causes static and static cling.
Here is my link to make your own dryer balls: th-cam.com/video/GjTtHckJ6jU/w-d-xo.html
OR...you can buy them off ebay from actual sheep farmers or other who make/sell them.
I have both kinds. But the homemade 100% felting wool balls are heavier and work the best (albeit louder in the dryer) ...:)
2.) Use a ball of crumpled up foil to discharge static the last few minutes of drying.
3.) Reduce heat on dryer to a lower setting if possible during winter months.
These are just a few ideas to reduce static issues.
Janie Pendleton I have probably 5 or 6 dryer balls... will give that a try - thanks! And happy holidays!
Awesome! I give them as Christmas and birthday gifts! Easy to make and work!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years! Let's all make 2017 a great year!! Whoo-hoo!
This channel gives me life. Thanks Janie!
Ikr!!!!!!! 🥳💯😜🤣 Thank you so much Mrs. Janie!!! Stay Blessed!🥰
I may just make this tomorrow I got all the ingredients yes I do thank you much stay blessed.
I just returned home from Wal Mart and purchased all the ingredients to make the laundry detergent. the fabric softener is my next project!
+Stephanie Mims Awesome!!
Janie Pendleton
In the spirit of experimentation, I will try some borax in the next batch.
LOL>>
Janie Pendleton
I agree, I recently tried some Zoto Soap for Laundry detergent and it does not separate like other bar soaps and I like the smell. Good stuff for a buck.
Here is my version, I think you will love it! It won an award! th-cam.com/video/Zu1aWzSnxwQ/w-d-xo.html
LOL>>
Very nice. Good recipe. Thank u. And thanks for getting to the info without all the upfront chatter about yourself and ur blog. So appreciated!
This is a very good idea thank you si much i Live in Trinidad &Tobago WI i enjoy your demo❤❤❤
there is also the fact that some of the conditioners for color have a bit of color in them. they can make light, vague stains like grease spots.
Ues can they make a stain? I never saw an answer??? 👀🤔
Thank you for all your recipes on him made products. As you said, money savers.
Chef Janie thank you your a life saver and I can't believe that I'm bearly finding out how to make this at 48 that's a shame ... But better late than never right? I'm a new subciber as well to your channel my journey begins here learing from the best God bless and be safe !💜💜💜💜
You are so welcome!
I am 58 and tried her dishwashing soap .it is amazing.i am going to make fabric softener as well.
amazing !This works really well!I found the conditioner 2 fer a dollar am gonna buy a bunch up !Thanks so much !
Thank you! This is a great recipe.
Clear and just awesome! :-)
We are so happy to have you!! If you ever have requests...let me know! Blessings!
But the question is how long does this last you?
Thanks for the video. I use dryer balls and essential oils as my fabric softener plus it cuts my drying in half the time. 😀

I make your Zote laundry soap, and I find that it makes the clothes so incredibly soft! You don’t need fabric softener.
I looooove your videos thanks a lot for all your effort. I like all your detergents and of course I love your lexi and her cookies.
+Ιφιγενεια Διας :) Thanks!!
I like the idea of thickening using the borax. I've been trying to figure out what to put in mine to get it similar to the ones in the store. Thanx for the video.
Great idea ! ..Can't wait to try this recipe. Thank you for sharing.
thank you for sharing. this really does work. I was amazed. I'll put it in a bounty ball and it works great
+annette rumley You are welcome. Have you tried the homemade detergent liquid or powder on my channel yet? It is even better! Just search laundry powder Janie Pendleton, or, Laundry best detergent Janie Pendleton, and they will pop up in your profile page.
I think ours is similar. Have been making mine for 3 yrs now. We have hard water too. :(
Our Little Homestead!
I would rather have the book in my hand.
I have a fill line on a corner compartment that I just fill as normal...but if measured out, it is just over 1/4 cup.
6 cups of low boiling water water
2 cups white vinegar
2 cups conditioner
1 Tablespoon Borax
Just writing the recipe for quick note.
I am going to be trying this.. Thank you for the tips.. Have a blessed day!!
Thank you Jamie......you are always so helpful with your money saving ideas. 👍
So awesome totally going to make. So excited I found your channel
Yay! Thank you!
that looks easy and great -- cant wait to make my own :-)
Thank you
+niner4ver You are welcome, hon!
Sooo what’s the best smelling combination for doing this I want to make some but I suffer from chronic migraines and smells are not my best friend I need something that lasts and smells soapy
I have enjoy it and learned how to make my own softener , thanks
MIne has a fill line so I figured that is about 1/2 to 1/3 cup per load
10000000000 likes.. Simple and effective instructions.
You're welcome! Let me know how it goes!!
Getting borax tomorrow.. Thxx Janie so much, I cant wait to make it :) !
The laundry soap turned out great. I’m about to go try this too lol.
Can't wait it , it look so easy to do. God bless
I just use 1 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle. It's the best! And no chemicals. It also helps to set colors, so darks don't fade. But beware, vinegar will set stains. If you don't prewash stained materials, you might not want to use vinegar.
Thank you very much our precious sisters.
The vinegar will also keep the mold that tends to gather in a front loader and the drain hose vinegar kills mold fungus and mildew spores..
Gretchen
I will do a video! Tx for the idea and for watching! Blessings!
Janie Pendleton, Oh, TY for your response and also for the 'to be' video! Blessings to You and Yours! Gretchen
Ty for your knowledgeable and sharing so that we can save money
I'm so happy I came across your video.. thanks for sharing!!!
You're welcome!!

You have a book coming out with all you're homemade products?! Where can I get this book?? I LOVE you're products! They save me so much money!
+Brittany Malone I'm hoping it will be complete by next summer!
+Janie Pendleton I just keep finding more and more tips to add and can't say 'It's done!" LOL!!
Same here how can I get a copy?
Thanks! Awesome vid. This will help me alot! You rock!
Is this homemade liquid fabric softener okay to use
with HE washing machine?
I would omit the salt (can stain clothes) and just use the conditioner and vinegar and water. No need to thicken with Borax either. I just added the borax one day and liked the way it took the odor out of the clothes in final rinse, but, vinegar does the same thing anyway. So, don't even add the borax as it's not even necessary!!
THANK YOU JANIE FOR SHARING.
Thanks for the video. How much do you use per load? Can you use this in a HE washer?
yes, 1/2 cup
I love your channel ! I use this fabric Softener recipe of yours all the time now. Thank you so much for sharing!
I also have a suggestion as well.. I saw another youtube channel on how to make fabric softener and He infuses the vinegar with an essential oil(say.. lavender) and lets it soak in the Vinegar for a few hours to a week.
I am currently combining your method with his (infusing the vinegar for an extra scented load )
I cant wait to try :)
I was affraid oils would stain my clothes...did it stain your tshirts?
Great idea, I'll try this, thank you.
Thank you I will start making my own fabric softener.
Tyfs I’m going to try this I’m so glad I found your channel
A spatula would have gotten a little mire conditioner from the measuring cup. I love your videos, Janie.
