    Well many points needs to be made here.
    1. the layout of the shop is as near to 100% efficient as possible
    2 for a two person crew you are producing more than I've seen 10 people do
    3 this is all double amazing because you are married, I can't even hang a picture with my wife.

      I just spent a day on Linda's end of an LT70 Woodmizer. It took two men and a boy to keep up with that saw. Of course we didn't have Linda's ergonomic and intelligent setup. We also weren't edging like she's doing either. I think she makes us look bad!

    I ran a mill the same as this but I did the edging on the mill about 8 pieces at once. your going to burn out you lovely helper and then you will be sorry. she moves 10 times to your one. give her a break.

    • @LindasSawmillCinema
      @LindasSawmillCinema  10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Robert, We used to edge on the mill before we got an edger & still have to edge extra wide or long boards on the mill. The edger is a great machine that saves a lot of time. Honestly, I love my work & get all the breaks I need. I won't burn out, I promise! Thanks for watching! Linda

    • @robertm8250
      @robertm8250 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LindasSawmillCinema Well I am glad that you enjoy it. I could have used a good hand like you, I had to do it all myself and still get a decent amount done. I did get burnt out because it was for someone else and I am a welder by trade not a woodman. I was looking at the swingblade mill that makes dimentional
      wood right off the mill and others do it in one pass. Band mills are not the cats meow anymore.
      if you do get tired you may look at one like that. Best regards

    • @3Sphere
      @3Sphere 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Robert M
      But a swing-blade won't cut wide boards. If you're only doing small stuff for construction, then it's fine. But if you are milling for woodworkers & craftsmen, then you want the wide stock. I get 22" wide stuff off my band-mill in one pass. The only thing I'd use a swing blade for is with a slabbing attachment to mill 5' wide high dollar slabs...
      That's funny, I have a Wood-Mizer LT 50 too and I only 'dabble' in welding. I wanna build a steel sail boat. :) My mill still meows very well. I do get tired, but it hurts 'good'.........

    • @robertm8250
      @robertm8250 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      3Sphere I would build a catamaran I saw one with a wind turbine. Very cool because it can go any direction regardless of where the wind comes from. and on the engine it uses very little fuel to move. need welding advice just ask.

    • @3Sphere
      @3Sphere 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Robert M I want to build a Spray replica. Thousands of them have been built around the world and sailed all over the globe. They are legendary, very seaworthy and pretty much sail themselves. That's the sail boat that Cap’n Joshua Slocum rebuilt into a yacht from an abandoned oyster boat around the turn of the century. Then he became the very first man to sail alone around the world as documented in his epic book Sailing Alone Around the World. No one believed it possible until he did it. He dined with navies of the great powers and fought off 'heathens' in Patagonia among many other adventures and unique experiences. It's a great read!
      Catamarans, while spacious, fast and comfortable make me very nervous. If you capsize a cat, (which is too easy to do- even a big one) your boat is done and probably your life too if you're at sea. But a keeled sail boat will right itself. You may lose the mast but you can jury rig and limp home to tell the tale by the fireside...

    Really awesome setup easy to critique sitting in my chair but looks like it would be more efficient to have a roller right next to or on the frame of the saw so when she drops the board down she doesn't have to drag them mass of the board over to the other roller. also you should move to switch and she has to bend over to by the cleaner or Sandra to make it more sufficient for turning the button on off labor wise. I would also think they would be wise to switch jobs periodically amount of walking pulling and bending over but that has to do to complete the task awesome set up though

    • @LindasSawmillCinema
      @LindasSawmillCinema  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      steven lang The chair doesn't give you the whole picture. The gap between the roller track and mill bed is of the exact proportion to get the board onto quickly and get me to be out of the way of the mill head backing up. I also need to go through the gap frequently to turn logs, help change blades, etc. Check out this video from minute 5:08 to 5:18, to see an example. Thanks for watching! Linda

    Why do you have the blade cover removed? Is it the amount of debris? Enjoy the videos immensely!

    Are those cut boards going to be air dried or Kiln dried? If Kiln dried, how long will it take and at what temperature?
    Thanks

    Does running the blade hood, on the debarker side, wide open help disperse the sawdust better? What is the reason for running the blade cover wide open?

    I thought I was going to watch a sawmill video, 15 seconds in, and wow I am struck by this well thought out machined worker that is flat moving, I'm telling you watching that person work was just amazing. This video was about getting off your rear and seriously burning some calories. But not for the sawmill operator, that person needs a gov desk job, what a cushion job for that person. This is no sawmill video, this is a how to work video. :)

    Thank you! I appreciate your concern; I wear a dust mask most of the time & so do our sons. My hubby (sawyer Al) doesn't think it looks proper for video taping, that is why it is off in some of the videos. This particular video has more airborne dust than usual, because the blade door is off. Thank for watching & commenting!!
