  • This was my first time at Goldfield Roseville. I figured that it was not going to sound very good with the layout being "wide and narrow" along with the brick walls, but it sounded amazingly good in there.
    I have been in my "old man punk" bubble for too long. I forgot how a good young punk band can make kids go apesh*t. What a show! I was blown away at the band's, and the crowd's energy. I tried to start filming the show from the same spot as I did for the Mean Jeans, but the crowd was just too crazy, even with my using a big support pole as a shield. I had to move back. You can tell how big of a difference it makes to those 4061 mics when you move away from the PA. Still good, but not as powerful.
    Recorded by: Shayne Stacy
    Equipment used: Panasonic Lumix GH5S, Lumix G Vario 14-140mm, F3.5-5.6 Power O.I.S. Lens
    Audio equipment: DPA 4061 mics and Church Audio 9200 preamp.

      Coz we, Aussies, invented the "punk sound" . Ask Steve from the pistols. Not the Ramones! The Saints! It was a long winded argument. With the Saints winning. Then you got the Scientists, Kim Salmon, who invented Grunge back in 81. Etc...But this is not me discounting all the great talented artists that all pissed in the pool of spit acid puke. Because, it doesn't really matter. Aslong as there's more good bands getting out there. That's what we want.... aslong as it's not trendy fake plastic shit. That is.

    Rock is dead. It's time to bury it and move on.

    • @ryandavis7758
      @ryandavis7758 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How can it be considered dead? What should we "move on to"? I'm pretty sure the chats sold out many shows on this tour, and even still they're drawing in large crowds outside of their own country, and they are only gaining an even larger following. There's no need to move on from the genre because it is at peak popularity everywhere except for America. Metal and Rock are extremely popular across Europe as of late.

    • @jdgoodwin3136
      @jdgoodwin3136 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ryandavis7758 I love rock, but as a culturally relevant and fresh musical genre it has lost the attention of young people.
      I'm also crazy about jazz, but it too fails to register a culturally significant pulse.
      People will always listen to every genre of music, to be sure. From Baroque toccatas, to Classical rondos to bebop jazz...all these genres are still being performed and listened to. However, they lack strong cultural impact.
      Rock and roll has joined the aforementioned in its lack of cultural impact. Nothing to be ashamed of. It had an amazing run and a huge impact in its time.
      I encourage you to enjoy rock music. Go see some of the remnant bands still playing today. And I'll listen to some J.S. Bach and then maybe The Libertines.
      Rock and Roll is dead. Long live whatever comes along next.

    • @ryandavis7758
      @ryandavis7758 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jdgoodwin3136 there is still a cultural impact of Rock music. Take for example the recent shows played by My Chemical Romance. They just toured in the UK and sold out multiple stadium shows, and most of their fan base consists of young people. I think that example alone is enough evidence for cultural relevancy. Most rock subgenres were never intended to reach mainstream popularity anyway, very few punk rock bands in the 1970s and 1980s sold more than 10 to 20 thousand records a year. Even still, as a 20 year old, I can name at least 20 people that I know who have some sort of interest in Rock Music. I will say though that the generation after me mostly has no interest in the genre. And if you like rock and jazz, why have such a negative outlook on its future? We know nothing about what the future holds. Maybe some mass resurgence in rock in the mainstream could occur. As long as bands can sell out shows in 2022 (countless bands still do), there's hope for the genre.

    • @jdgoodwin3136
      @jdgoodwin3136 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ryandavis7758 Your examples are but a shrinking remnant of what rock and roll used to be. There's no doubt I can find sold out venues for Baroque, Classical, and Opera, too.
      It is a fact that rock music, viewed from the early 50's through today, is trending decidedly downward in both popularity and its financial share of entertainment expenditures.
      I encourage you to enjoy it. If it makes you happy, then that's all that really matters.
      Rock on.
