One of our outings when visiting Mombasa was to cross Likoni on a ferry. On the other side we would drink tanga veezi (ginger tea) and buy and eat salted peanuts. This was in the 60's and early 70's.

Wow. You used to visit Mombasa and cross to Likoni in 1960s eating salted peanuts that means in 1960s you had your 32 teeth already. And until now you can use internet nicely plus having social media accounts. May God bless your old age
@@bjzee1981 I am 61 years old so not that old. My parents lived in Eastleigh when I was born (1959) and then Ngara facing the Kariokor Roundabout. I remember that already around 1972 or 1973 I borrowed some books on computer programming from the University Library where my dad worked while being a mature age student. I got the basic idea that a computer program was like a cooking recipe. Thank-you for your blessings.

@@LIVKENYA The bridge should be okay you know! This technology has been used many times before, and it started many years ago but it was mostly used by army/ soldiers in times of war with the enemy!
Many countries especially developed ones have used that technology!
They would connect those parts of temporary floating equipments to cross over to the enemy!
Even Tanzania 🇹🇿 has used the same equipments as a temporary bridge to reach the enemy! The enemy had blown off the bridge to not get reached by a very strong Tanzanian army, but Tanzanian army connected those floating equipments really quick and went inside the enemy’s territory and defeated them victoriously 💪🏾!
Those floating equipments can not sink because they are designed similar to a lifeboat or a life jacket! Unless otherwise if you dig a hole on it, then it will be able to swallow water and sink!
But they are made from a very strong thick metal, so it’s not easy to get damaged by a small impact! May be if you hit them with a bomb or a missile then they can give up easily!
So, they are very strong floating equipments, and people shouldn’t be worried about them!

Thank you for watching, Fawzia. Yes, Michael was very resourceful. The bridge closes at 6pm and does not operate at night. Ikifungwa, inabidi watu watumie Ferry but at least it has reduced congestion.
That's accurate for now. It might change in future, but for now, it closes up at 6pm. I'm glad I met Michael Mischief and his team, they were so kind and very resourceful.

The problem with the bridge ..its far and isolated from main roads...it would have created chaos if it was forced on residents.. Ferry is convenient meanwhile despite the known hassles .Am sure many go there just to have a feel on it for the first time and sightseeing.
