Erlang is very rebellious himself. He’s technically a Demi god because his the nephew of the jade emperor. The jade emperors sister was bored in the celestial court and ventured down to the mortal realm and met erlang’s father where they had him. Because it’s against celestial rules for deities to rendezvous with mortals let alone have children with them, the jade emperor had his sister imprisoned. Erlang himself went through a journey of his own to rescue his mother. But of course that’s another story on its own.
Didn't the Emperor imprison her Wukong style? As in, suppress her under a mountain, and afaik Erlang learned his magic and all that then split it open with his axe, just like at the beginning. Another interesting thing iirc is Erlang's sister also did the same thing their mother did, and his nephew also had to split a mountain with a magic axe to save his mom.
That story can be found in a novel called Feng Shen Yan Yi(封神演义）, it tells the story of how these Celestial Admiral renounced as part of the Celestial Court. The timelines is way earlier before JTTW. To know Erlang’s story, you need to read this novel.
I like that his mind wasn’t lost. The old monkey lied or didn’t know better. It was all his plan. After defeating his echo all relics in the destined ones body activated and Sun Wukong took control over his new body. Without the headband he can break free and fight the celestial court once again. This time he has a chance, because now his full potential is unlocked. Awesome story and twist
That headband is not a crown tho it may look decorative. It was a band the Buddha Guanyin gave to the Tang Monk to control Wukong on their journey to the west. They tricked wukong into wearing it in the guise of a hat during the very beginning of the journey since Wukong was very untamed and did not want to listen to the tang monk. Basically if Wukong were to act up and defy the tang monk, he can recite a mantra that causes the band to squeeze his head like a watermelon and give them tremendous pain. This is why it’s so important at the end for him to break free of it in the game so he can no longer be controlled by the celestial court or the realm of the Buddha (lin Shang). The ending is Wukong remembering his journey to the west for the scriptures, but backwards. Since the story all started with him rebelling against the celestial court, it’s very symbolic that the game has an open ended ending leading everyone to speculate what Wukong is going to do next. His beginning in the journey to the west mirrors his ending in the game when he didn’t have the band, maybe he will take the fight up to the celestial court once again.

Erlang is definitely one of the hardest boss beside Yellow Loong. Erlang attacks are so annoying and he is just aggresive with it sometimes Erlang is almost the Malenia male version. But of course, he is not healing when he hits you but still, Erlang is good
I went to Yellow Loong with a spellbinder build + sprint build. I first tried him. But Erlang i struggled with, but went back to a high mana spell build and then he was down in 2 tries. While the bosses in this game have clear flaws and you can feel the rough edges here and there ( its their first big game after all ) i like the gameplay a lot and how diverse it is and that bosses have clear weaknesses even when they appear OP.
It took me an entire day to beat Erlang. I'll blame it on the fact that he's gorgeous and distracting to look at. Yes, that's what I'll chalk it up to. Definitely not a skill issue *sweats* 😅😅😅

I’m a fairly decent gamer and I do not understand how you beat the final boss in 3 tried and they guy in like 5?? I was stuck on both for hours. Erlang I found easier than chapter 6 boss bc I kept getting him to like 5% health, and then his second health bar would appear and I couldn’t kill him. Here’s hoping for today lol 😊
