debbie is mesmerizing to watch. so many subtle nuances in her expressions and movements and then there's her beauty and voice. an artist as well as an artist's muse. I never saw this video in it's heyday - very advanced looking for it's day.
It’s cringeworthy - not the way to start your career as a solo artist - and if you think that is harsh, then just look how it all turned out - not good…….
Back in the day my two favourite groups were Blondie and Chic. Imagine when I heard Nile, Bernard, Chris and Debbie were collaborating on her first solo album - Koo Koo. Though this song was not a big hit (I think it was a bit ahead of its' time) I loved it and it still stands up today.

Hoping that one day a Deborah Harry solo years box set will appear with all her albums remastered, soundtrack songs, collaborations, remixes, unreleased material including Mind Over Matter etc. Her solo material is long overdue it's flowers.

Some of the songs that come to mind are 'Liar Liar', 'Rush Rush' (that should have been number 1 for weeks and weeks), 'Live Alone', 'Mind Over Matter', 'Command and Obey', 'Feel the Spin' and so many more. All in their original studio recordings. I also wish I could get a 'clean' copy of 'Studio 54', from the band. Another brilliant song from Debbie and Chris. They could do anything, really. No other female vocalist like her. Would also love a studio version of her 'I Feel Love' Donna Summer cover - which was fanphucktastic live. And a studio version of 'Wild Horses', the Stones classic. Her voice is like creamy white chocolate frosting with lemon.
It ain’t happening - ever. The good tracks are too wildly dispersed over diffferent labels, copyrights. It is my opinion that ‘Rush Rush’ ‘Feel The Spin’ ‘Liar Liar’ and the unreleased ‘Mind over Matter’ are far better than anything included in the actual albums released. ‘Messy’ is putting it mildly….

I never liked that album. However, I like the funky guitar on this one. Well, that just about sums it up.
It IS a challenging album. The only tracks I really liked were 'Chrome' (used as the intro to this single), 'Inner City Spillover' and 'Military Rap'. It was weird because Nile didn't really gel with Debbie the way Giorgio Moroder did ('Call Me' and 'Rush Rush'). Yet, Nile, a few years later, worked on Madonna's 'Like a Virgin' album, which I liked so much more than KooKoo. But Madonna doesn't hold a candle to Debbie, in my book. She knows who to collaborate with, though. Debbie takes more risks.
