The thing is, they couldn't create enough food and water for the entire ship's crew without spending all their spell slots. The ship still probably needed to stop for supplies.

Familiars themselves can't attack or cast spells, however they can be used to cast spells through (like caleb did) or use the help action to provide advantage in combat
Okay, I canNOT get over the moment where Beau tells Caleb that Frumpkin likes her, and he starts going off about how that's true because they think the same thoughts and how he's the best cat, and that means that he was straight-out telling Beau that he really likes her and would take care of her, but Beau's too busy talking over him to hear anything, and it's the simultaneously the sweetest, and saddest, and funniest moment while also being peak sibling vibes, I love it so much.
I get you. Sometimes I get a bit peeved at Beau's attitude towards Caleb compared to most of the gang, but then I think that it adds dimensions to the group dynamic and carry on watching happily😬

Chloe Kit lets be honest. Molly was basically a pirate on land with a standard of “rob no one blind” He paid bandits that attacked them twice because they were so outmatched, even gave the leader armor, and never let anyone go without at least slipping one or two coin on their person if they were good people

travis has spoken a few times about how he finds relationships is gaming is weird so he doesn't really do it. He obviously is fine with the idea cuz keyleth and vax was a fun thing/awkward for everyone.

It's quite obvious they didn't research how fast sailing ships were/are. Just 55 nautical miles per day (roughly 100 km) is very slow, and would be the absolute minimum distance they'd travel in a day. On a day with a good crosswind, easily twice that or more.

it was super kind of Caleb to reach out to Caduceus to thank him and give him a gift; last episode it felt like the group leaned on Cad a LOT and for Caleb to recognize that this was a huge uprooting for Cad and that he has contributed so much in such a short time was very kind and wholesome
I really appreciate Fjord and Caleb getting a bit closer. Their initial relationship was very… tense, but it just means so much that he’s trusting Caleb of all people with this kind of judgement. He’s trusting him to make the right choice in an event where Fjord himself is… compromised.

Well, the only people who came to see him were either grieving for their loved ones, or already dead. He may not have had many conversations, but the ones he did have were probably rreeeeeally intense.
He has high Charisma stat. He knows how to speak and is naturally likeable-- very friendly. It's his INT that is very low. He is not a bookish or socially learned individual. But his high wisdom means his intuition is impeccable. Honestly, this is in the realm of how I ALWAYS thought Keyleth SHOULD have been. Very intuitive and observant. She was none of that in game. For HER, she had super low Charisma, so, unlike Clay, he makes for a terrible liar, persuader, and is a word fumbling idiot.
I love everyone else's reaction to the Jester Nott interaction at the start of the episode. Matt and Tailison are just purely enjoying, purely focused on them almost like watching a car wreck unfold. Travis spends the hole scene being ashamed and embarrassed and guilty, which is great! Marisha and Liam spend basically the entire time smothering their laughter and ribbing Travis. This scene was a great way to start the episode!
joshua stebbing id love to learn the exact words for a proper Scottish accent, like as if a Scotsman was speaking English I can sound right, but the vernacular is always the part that makes it fall apart when I try....
@@danieloceansmith3156 as a Scot, there's not loads of exact words we use as slang or anything, at least not in the modern world of that makes sense. If you're interested, you should look up Doric and translations for it. They use Doric in the North , mostly by older folks.

I don’t think Avantika can’t be lied to, although she certainly tried to spin it that way. I’m pretty sure M9 has successfully lied to her before. This is my first time watching, but personally I think Avantika hired Sabien to sabotage Vandren’s ship, and therefore already knew at least part of what happened to it. If Fjord’s lie contradicted some detail she was already aware of, it wouldn’t pass the smell test no matter how high he rolled or how convincingly he told it. I could be wrong; my other theory was that the third person Avantika mentioned had already reached the point she just did and created the storm that sank Vandren’s ship in an effort to obtain his sword and his orb. But that doesn’t explain Sabien’s betrayal, and now that she’s revealed the third chosen WAS Vandren, her hiring Sabien as a saboteur makes the most sense. I look forward to finding out if I’m right.

The Traveler probably wouldn't want Jester to use her connection with him for all this serious world-saving concerns. She'd start being a bit of a buzzkill if she did that, and that's not something the Traveler likes.
I love how talesein takes every opportunity he can to remind us that his character has low intellect, and i mean that in the best of ways, in just the jokes and stuff he makes at his own expense just to have fun with it.
It's not even that low, though. His INT is 9, which is only 1 lower than average. He's not the guy you want to solve the dungeon puzzles, but he's definitely not stupid. Just a little slower at general problem-solving than the average person.

Might’ve been obvious to everyone else but I’m only just realizing jesters relationship with the traveler. Him being almost a father figure to her. When she said “traveler, how do I make a boy like me?” I’m not gonna lie, I teared up.
@@rowanw1312It definitely tells you something about the Traveler that that's the first and basically second thing he suggests before giving non-malicious advice, then going back to enchantment as a backup. And it tells you something about Jester, too, that she turns it down, then halfway agrees with "maybe? Okay, you'll help me with that, right?" How goodhearted she is, and how impressionable she is, too.

@@RianeBane Most of it is done through apprenticeships and you learn by watching at first. Than once the basics are down many learn by doing themselves first on their legs and such and move on to friends willing to be semi-practice and so on. There are schools that you can go to but they are the vast minority of people who learn and are quite overly expensive for what they are.
So I have a friend that apprenticed for a bit before it fell through, but basically he had to start by drawing a ton with a tattoo machine with a pencil in it to get used to the weight and how it kinda feels. Then he was able to practice on himself and there was one patron who let him finish a piece as well because he was friends with the owner and didn't really care. It's mostly that type of thing along with what others have said.
I mean, she doesn’t seem like the type to make him guess what he did wrong. She seems like the type to just tell someone when they upset her instead of getting all passive aggressive about it.

While we were all focusing on how adorable Travis looks as he turns beet red while Jester and Nott talk, what we missed a little but is what a great fucking actor Sam is because Nott got more and more wistful as she was talking about her first kiss, even though she claimed she didn't remember his name. When you know the rest of her story and then rewatch this, it's absolutely heartbreaking.
The time this episode came out it was super funny. Now with more than double as much episode it shines a whole different light on Nott and actually makes it very sad

I always found that line kinda sad because Caleb probably has been told that his whole life? Like it's in a better context now, but people always saw him as a sort of prodigy, he's probably heard similar from his parents and other adults around him growing up due to his knack for the arcane, then from Trent no doubt in some fucked up way, and I imagine that'd bring up all sorts of emotions and memories. It was said by Cad with purely good intentions, but still.
@@carrotandpeas I think the key to that phrase is the second part, someone who is willing to be there for him and help him get there. Unlike most adults who just compliment and leave expectations to achieve or disappoint.
@@PupDeLaTart The second part isn't necessarily good either. I'm sure Trent also "wanted to make sure that Caleb got wherever he needed to be." Whether a statement like that is good or not depends on the speaker and their intent. For someone more nefarious, it could easily be manipulative and imply that they will mold the person to their liking because to them, that's "where they need to be." Of course, from Caduceus, it's entirely the opposite. He wants to help Caleb in any of his endeavors because he believes that they will naturally be good for the world because he trusts Caleb to be better than his past (even though at this point Cad doesn't know Caleb's past, just that it's dark and fiery).
He probably already knew that Caleb would not want to believe in fate as for canon reasons it would mean his goal is unachievable and because he would hate being controlled by something

@@math_plant I mean that was after they tried to kill Beau, they actually were trying to be cordial and just wanted to talk, but they were attacked and grossly outnumbered, I doubt they could defend themselves and do so without lethal force to meet their attackers

Often it takes more power to end a life or death fight without killing. It shows they are getting strong enough to choose if they want to kill rather than knowing they have to kill.
That actually happened quite a bit, historically. Particularly useful sailors (doctors, barrel makers, good cooks, so on) were frequently press-ganged into crews when their ships were plundered, and not every crewman was cool with the pirate's life. Of course, pirate crewman doesn't necessarily pay well, so it was hard to get out of the life once you were in it

if you give players a battlemap and its just for pure visual. they will start combat automatically anyways. even if you planned or didnt plan combat the moment you give players a map combat happens
I found that bizarre. You create a map cause you're planning for combat, but I don't understand how combat was supposed to break out here. There was really no reason for them to harass that vessel, let alone try to board and kill the people on it. I'm surprised they went as far as they did, so I'm still curious why he bothered with the map.

I am blown away by every interaction between Jester and The Traveler. They are both incredible actors. I’m sat here feeling like I’m there watching real people.
I hate that Jester is still so cute and bubbly through all this because I know that means there's gonna be a scene down the line where even she can't be her normal happy self and it's gonna be the saddest shit ever
I think out of all of Talisen's characters, Caduceus is the one that makes me appreciate Talisen player, actor and just a member of the cast. But when I think about it, I like all that character's in campaign two cause they seem to be mirror the personalities of the group a lot more than in campaign one.
Idk I think Scanlan was a pretty spot on character design for Sam, same with Terry Grog appealed to the manly side of Travis Keyleths spontaneous and awkward personality embellished the quirkiness of Marisha Vax was dark and brooding, which is Liams character MO Vex carried her creators love for money and cute little critters Pike isn't even Ashley role playing.... she's just being herself.
I definitely agree, campaign 2 is better on many spectrums compared to campaign 1. Besides grog their characters are much more relatable to their irl personalities
@@BigggusDikkkus Campaign 1 was definitely the cast playing characters similar to themselves in some way. I think the only exception is Travis, Fjord still embodies the macho tropes, but with a wit and charisma more fitting of Travis himself. Campaign 2 they're all playing against type. Liam is playing a smart coward, Marisha is playing a rebellious brat, Ashley is playing an emotionally distant enigma, Laura is playing a goofball, Taliesin is playing a calm and wise forest man and Sam is playing...well Sam is another weird one to be honest, though Nott is nothing like Scanlan.
I agree I like the all the characters in this campaign alot I think character are always better and easier to r.p if you attach a bit of your own personality to them....its what I always try to do anyway

Okay, I canNOT get over the moment where Beau tells Caleb that Frumpkin likes her, and he starts going off about how that's true because they think the same thoughts and how he's the best cat, and that means that he was straight-out telling Beau that he really likes her and would take care of her, but Beau's too busy talking over him to hear anything, and it's the simultaneously the sweetest, and saddest, and funniest moment while also being peak sibling vibes, I love it so much.

I really appreciate Fjord and Caleb getting a bit closer. Their initial relationship was very… tense, but it just means so much that he’s trusting Caleb of all people with this kind of judgement. He’s trusting him to make the right choice in an event where Fjord himself is… compromised.

Well, the only people who came to see him were either grieving for their loved ones, or already dead. He may not have had many conversations, but the ones he did have were probably rreeeeeally intense.

It's his INT that is very low. He is not a bookish or socially learned individual. But his high wisdom means his intuition is impeccable.
Honestly, this is in the realm of how I ALWAYS thought Keyleth SHOULD have been. Very intuitive and observant. She was none of that in game. For HER, she had super low Charisma, so, unlike Clay, he makes for a terrible liar, persuader, and is a word fumbling idiot.

I love everyone else's reaction to the Jester Nott interaction at the start of the episode. Matt and Tailison are just purely enjoying, purely focused on them almost like watching a car wreck unfold. Travis spends the hole scene being ashamed and embarrassed and guilty, which is great! Marisha and Liam spend basically the entire time smothering their laughter and ribbing Travis. This scene was a great way to start the episode!

I don’t think Avantika can’t be lied to, although she certainly tried to spin it that way. I’m pretty sure M9 has successfully lied to her before. This is my first time watching, but personally I think Avantika hired Sabien to sabotage Vandren’s ship, and therefore already knew at least part of what happened to it. If Fjord’s lie contradicted some detail she was already aware of, it wouldn’t pass the smell test no matter how high he rolled or how convincingly he told it.
I could be wrong; my other theory was that the third person Avantika mentioned had already reached the point she just did and created the storm that sank Vandren’s ship in an effort to obtain his sword and his orb. But that doesn’t explain Sabien’s betrayal, and now that she’s revealed the third chosen WAS Vandren, her hiring Sabien as a saboteur makes the most sense. I look forward to finding out if I’m right.

The Traveler probably wouldn't want Jester to use her connection with him for all this serious world-saving concerns. She'd start being a bit of a buzzkill if she did that, and that's not something the Traveler likes.
I love how talesein takes every opportunity he can to remind us that his character has low intellect, and i mean that in the best of ways, in just the jokes and stuff he makes at his own expense just to have fun with it.

It's not even that low, though. His INT is 9, which is only 1 lower than average. He's not the guy you want to solve the dungeon puzzles, but he's definitely not stupid. Just a little slower at general problem-solving than the average person.

It also helps if you have some kind of artsy skills to start, if you cant draw on notebook paper forget tattooing. XD
@@RianeBane Most of it is done through apprenticeships and you learn by watching at first. Than once the basics are down many learn by doing themselves first on their legs and such and move on to friends willing to be semi-practice and so on. There are schools that you can go to but they are the vast minority of people who learn and are quite overly expensive for what they are.
So I have a friend that apprenticed for a bit before it fell through, but basically he had to start by drawing a ton with a tattoo machine with a pencil in it to get used to the weight and how it kinda feels. Then he was able to practice on himself and there was one patron who let him finish a piece as well because he was friends with the owner and didn't really care. It's mostly that type of thing along with what others have said.

While we were all focusing on how adorable Travis looks as he turns beet red while Jester and Nott talk, what we missed a little but is what a great fucking actor Sam is because Nott got more and more wistful as she was talking about her first kiss, even though she claimed she didn't remember his name. When you know the rest of her story and then rewatch this, it's absolutely heartbreaking.

I liken The Mighty Nein falling into piracy to an experience at a car lot. One curious glance at a car and minutes later, you have spoken to the entire gamut of staff from salesman all the way up the totem poll, your credit score is dinged and you are filling out paperwork to finance a car you can't actually afford. I always found that line kinda sad because Caleb probably has been told that his whole life? Like it's in a better context now, but people always saw him as a sort of prodigy, he's probably heard similar from his parents and other adults around him growing up due to his knack for the arcane, then from Trent no doubt in some fucked up way, and I imagine that'd bring up all sorts of emotions and memories. It was said by Cad with purely good intentions, but still.
@@carrotandpeas I think the key to that phrase is the second part, someone who is willing to be there for him and help him get there. Unlike most adults who just compliment and leave expectations to achieve or disappoint.

Whether a statement like that is good or not depends on the speaker and their intent. For someone more nefarious, it could easily be manipulative and imply that they will mold the person to their liking because to them, that's "where they need to be." Of course, from Caduceus, it's entirely the opposite. He wants to help Caleb in any of his endeavors because he believes that they will naturally be good for the world because he trusts Caleb to be better than his past (even though at this point Cad doesn't know Caleb's past, just that it's dark and fiery).

I my first thought was Coby from super early One Piece. (Before you said hired)
That actually happened quite a bit, historically. Particularly useful sailors (doctors, barrel makers, good cooks, so on) were frequently press-ganged into crews when their ships were plundered, and not every crewman was cool with the pirate's life.
Of course, pirate crewman doesn't necessarily pay well, so it was hard to get out of the life once you were in it

if you give players a battlemap and its just for pure visual. they will start combat automatically anyways. even if you planned or didnt plan combat the moment you give players a map combat happens

I found that bizarre. You create a map cause you're planning for combat, but I don't understand how combat was supposed to break out here. There was really no reason for them to harass that vessel, let alone try to board and kill the people on it. I'm surprised they went as far as they did, so I'm still curious why he bothered with the map.

I am blown away by every interaction between Jester and The Traveler. They are both incredible actors. I’m sat here feeling like I’m there watching real people.
I hate that Jester is still so cute and bubbly through all this because I know that means there's gonna be a scene down the line where even she can't be her normal happy self and it's gonna be the saddest shit ever

I think out of all of Talisen's characters, Caduceus is the one that makes me appreciate Talisen player, actor and just a member of the cast.
But when I think about it, I like all that character's in campaign two cause they seem to be mirror the personalities of the group a lot more than in campaign one.
Idk I think Scanlan was a pretty spot on character design for Sam, same with Terry
Grog appealed to the manly side of Travis
Keyleths spontaneous and awkward personality embellished the quirkiness of Marisha
Vax was dark and brooding, which is Liams character MO
Vex carried her creators love for money and cute little critters
Pike isn't even Ashley role playing.... she's just being herself.

I definitely agree, campaign 2 is better on many spectrums compared to campaign 1. Besides grog their characters are much more relatable to their irl personalities
@@BigggusDikkkus Campaign 1 was definitely the cast playing characters similar to themselves in some way. I think the only exception is Travis, Fjord still embodies the macho tropes, but with a wit and charisma more fitting of Travis himself.
Campaign 2 they're all playing against type. Liam is playing a smart coward, Marisha is playing a rebellious brat, Ashley is playing an emotionally distant enigma, Laura is playing a goofball, Taliesin is playing a calm and wise forest man and Sam is playing...well Sam is another weird one to be honest, though Nott is nothing like Scanlan.
I agree I like the all the characters in this campaign alot I think character are always better and easier to r.p if you attach a bit of your own personality to them....its what I always try to do anyway
