I've been a proud pony/pc player for 25 years. I put my ps5 up for sale on Facebook yesterday. Sony is already halfway down the death spiral. I get the fear of Peter being written out for Spiderman 3, but I don't see it, personally.
Like you said in a previous vid, some of these projects were written before wokeism in media started becoming unpopular. Spiderman 2 was probably one of them. Insomniac likely knows full well by now if they actually take that step, it won't end well for them.

A friend brought this up and I 100% agree. If you want to get Miles away from Peter's shadow, put him in a different city. Doing this forces new interactions in a new setting which means new personal rogues instead of piggybacking off of Peters.
Miles should have always been Marvel's Nightwing. Have him and Peter team up for a decade then miles can leave and go to either Mami or Atlanta (if you still want that Afro-Caribbean culture to play with) and let him and Ganke fight crime there, with Miles visiting Peter every once in a while.

The worst part about this? I was a huge Ultimate Spider-Man fan as a kid which made me HATE Miles due to how they handled him in comics. Spiderverse and the Insomniac games made me finally really like the character and actually start looking into some of his newer comics... only for them to go full D.I.E. Woke and do EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID WITH ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN.

Arkham City (and even Arkham Knight) somehow nailed the balance of multiple main characters in a superhero game - Batman, Catwoman (and depending on who you ask, the Batmobile) with team-ups and optional challenges for side characters like Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Quinn, etc. Its crazy to think those games are 8-12 years ago, and the industry has slid so far backwards with self inflicted nonsense that we now get Spiderman 2 and Gotham Knights.

Worst part is that Miles doesn't feel like he earned it. He was basically an extra in this game and didn't really get to stand on his own two feet except as the electric MacGuffin that saves the day at the end. Now if he had more to do with the story, had a bigger impact as a character with a proper arc that didn't end halfway through the game, and actually proved that he could handle things on his own then I could believe that Miles would ALLOW Peter to create a more balanced lifestyle with less need to save every kitten stuck in a tree, but in the end Miles has no idea what Peter Parker has to sacrifice every single day to be the Spiderman he needs to be nor has shown carrying the same weight.
Miles is being portrayed in this game as the new hotness Spiderman rather than his own person. The Spiderverse movies worked for Miles because he WAS his own character with his own heavy burdens to bare, Miles Morales in the Spiderman games does not have that same weight on his shoulders and therefore doesn't have our confidence as his own hero. He needs to grow into the role, not have it thrusted upon him and US just because he has "representation".

The only reason that wasn’t much of an issue was due to the game essentially working off the exact same structure as 2018, and was cheap to make. Let them try and make a Spider-Man 3 with Miles as the forerunner character. There will absolutely be controversy. It’ll be the Spider-Man 2 drama dialed to 11.

You could continue to argue that Miles' flaw is that he DIDN'T lean on Peter or anybody else in those moments. It was actually his own interactions with Li that changed both of them for the better.

When I first saw the end of Insomniac’s Spiderman 2 I really liked it. The idea of Peter getting a reward for all his hard work and a break to live in peace with MJ for a while was very nice.
It also made me imagine some absolute gut punches for Spiderman 3. I immediately thought that they built up miles so hard because they were going to have Norman kill him in battle. Imagine that as a plot line. That could easily hit the same emotional highs as the first game.
Then I heard all the shit they were saying outside the game. Miles outright replacing Peter is absurd. I was expecting they’d have a relationship like Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. I never thought in a million years anyone would even consider outright replacing THE Peter Parker. The man is iconic, he’s THE Spiderman, the Original. The crazy thing is I usually see this stuff coming from a mile away. How the hell did it slip past me?
Since Marvel is also running their comics into the ground, No cost is too great and no sacrifice is too horrible as long as it benefits the message.

One of the writers is deaf. It was them putting a quest in for themselves. It felt really out of place.
That said, I did like the "shake the controller" to shake the spray paint element. With a game centered around street art, graffiti, and skateboarding, I could see it being pretty cool to utilize. A Jet Set Radio game would be a fitting place for that kind of quest, not Spider-Man.

It’s about time people started taking aim at Miles. I have never once accepted his existence, because he was created so they could kill off one of the best renditions of Peter Parker at the time: Ultimate Spider-Man… and when that wasn’t enough, they forced him into the 616 universe to ride the coat tails of mainstream Peter Parker until they either kill him, or force him into retirement. All so Miles can one day become the only mainstream Spider-Man.
He was always made to drown Peter Parker out of pop culture. Most people assumed he was a Robin-esque character, but they forget one crucial fact that destroys that viewpoint. Robin doesn’t also call himself Batman. Miles is a parasitic character that’s bleeding Peter dry until everything that was once his, is now Miles’. Miles stole Peter’s personality traits, his costume, his gadgets, his rogues, and sometimes his love interests.
Miles was also the gateway for Marvel to abuse Spider-Man, creating the goddamn Spider-Verse which is a hive for them to lazily create an infinite amount of diversity and inclusion renditions of Spider-Man. I mean shit, we’re now at the point where a lesbian disabled spider character is a real existing character in Marvel comics.
Miles has only poisoned the Spider-Man brand, making Peter Parker (the original and once only Spider-Powered character) become cliche… boring… and unspecial… essentially a random face in an ocean of new Spider-Powered characters……. Peter’s powers were supposed to come from a .000001% chance freakish accident (which made him stand out, and feel special) and now it’s cliche because at this point, what random kid HASN’T been bitten by a radioactive spider??
It has been excruciating to watch the general public rally behind Miles, giving him the benefit of the doubt… but I’ve seen through this shit for over a decade now… it’s good to know people have finally had enough of Miles… but will it matter in the end? He’s on his way to the MCU, he’s replaced Peter in these games, his popular animated movies pushed Peter to one of the lowest background supportive characters, and he’s getting more of the fun stories in comics, while Peter’s depicted as a bum, lazy, a quitter, a loser, a cuck, you name it.

My introduction to miles was in the ultimate Spider-Man show back when Peter was chasing green goblin through the multiverse I don't remember anything significant about him other than I thought his suit looked cool and his extra electric powers were also cool. And even after watching both spiderverse movies I feel the exact same way about him like there's nothing significant that I like about miles. I just can't see miles as Spider-Man because Peter is and always will be spider man and I don't want that to change I don't want people to forget about him.

A few people at Marvel heard he didn’t get the role, and to spare his feelings of losing out on a role (which is an everyday occurrence as an actor), they made Miles so that he has a spider-man that physically looks like him. He literally exists to spare the feelings of an actor who went through the same thing every actor goes through at some point in their career.
Imagine if a white actor applied to be Black Panther, and lost out on the role for obvious reasons… and to compensate, they made a white black panther for the comics in his honor, who exists only to replace the original T’Challa. This new white Black Panther is depicted as braver, smarter, stronger, he has unique new powers on top of the original power set, he borrows T’Challa’s love interests, his costume aesthetic, and all of his rogues. T’Challa’s suddenly lazier, more goofy, a quitter, or just plain depressed, especially whenever this new BP is around… and suppose this new BP was a gateway for a BP-Verse, where now there’s an infinite number of BP’s that are automatically better than the original. As time goes by T’Challa seems less and less important and mostly serves as a plot device to propel these new BP’s into the OG BP’s spotlight… especially that white replacement BP. Sounds pretty ridiculous right? Well that’s exactly what’s been going on with Miles for over 10 years now.

It's amazing watching how this series devolved. I enjoyed the 2018 game, didn't seem to have any woke elements. Ever since Miles Morales, I noticed a shift in the narratives in these games, like Spider Man not working with cops to stop crimes, and these random pride/BLM flags in the background. Miles needs a different hero name like The black Spider or something like that probably not that generic. Despite his origins and being created solely for diversity and representation I do think his character can still be good. In the movie it seemed like Miles was a young kid who was thrust into this against his own wishes and I felt sympathy for him even though I'm not black. That's something I can't understand. Why do black people NEED their heroes to be the same as them? When I was a little kid I thought Lando was the coolest of the original star wars movies and I'm white I wasn't sitting there thinking "Well FUCK this guy is cool but I guess i HAVE to like luke better because he's a blonde white guy like me"

Apparently, the phrase "With great power comes great responsibility" doesn't mean jack anymore. This is what happens when you give a beloved character to people who don't understand the character. Peter Parker is not Peter Parker, Peter Parker IS Spiderman. Because he had the ability to stop a crime and didn't it cost him someone he loved and thus he vowed to fight or at least attempt to prevent such things from happening to others around him. There are plenty of other superheroes running around and according to this game "re-habilitated villains" if he didn't give up when they were around saving the day then why would he give up just because of Miles?
Not to mention this whole giving up thing undermines pretty much everything that happened in the first game and now makes the whole him choosing to save the city over his aunt pointless since the whole point of that scene was to emphasize the need for a hero to sacrifice their personal life for the greater good.
Spider-man would never take any breaks unless he's severly injured, stuck on another planet, or dead.
This is all just screams lazy writing and cowardice, they can't even bring themselves to kill off Peter or give Miles his own superhero name like, oh I don't know maybe "Kid Araknid" or something. Instead, they want to give him the "title" of Spiderman despite the "real" Spiderman still being alive.
This is all a cop-out and i'm tired of praising these people for their lazy writing and not so hidden agendas.
I could buy the ending if they had just phrased it a different. The Emily-May Foundation should be presented as Peter trying to use his natural great power - scientific knowledge and genius intelligence - to help people. That he's using it responsibly, unlike Doc Ock. They could have tied the Emily-May Foundation and Peter wanting to put real effort into that back to May's sacrifice, her "If you help one person, you help everyone" motto, Otto's downfall, and Ben's original lesson. It doesn't need to mean Peter is retiring, just that he can now balance Spider-Man's contributions to the city with Peter's contributions to the world. It kind of makes Peter a little more Batman, learning to use super hero and normal identity to help, but it could work if presented properly.
That would have sat better with me as Miles saying "I got this" is more for him telling Peter he doesn't have to suit up over every little thing on the police scanner and that his work as a scientist is just as important as Spider-Man. Where they stepped over the line for me was Miles saying so long as he could still come to Pete for advice and Peter saying Miles doesn't need it. Or saying Miles reformed a villain and Pete never did and asking why the city needs him around. Or saying he's just trying to keep up with Miles. Or....
The game went out of its way to tell you Miles is better than Peter and that Peter is not necessary and he's the less important Spider-Man.
That's where they stepped way over the line for me.

I don't understand why people don't create new super heroes to fit their fantasies instead of robbing and destroying existing ones. Creating YOUR OWN superhero is the entire point of the super hero fantasy. At this point in post (ad infinitum) modernity I think people would be more receptive to somewhat reused origin stories. In this case Miles could have been bitten by another radioactive spider (maybe the Puerto Rican Brown Tarantula) and becomes Peter's equal partner with his own unique traits that balance Peter's. His stories could be set somewhere else, maybe the Caribbean, because Peter can only be in one place at one time and there you go... problem solved... Unique Spiderman that is believable, doesn't disgrace the original, and more aptly represents the target audience.

I was just telling my son last night the exact same thing you mention about the Wolverine game. That will really aggravate me. I am a huge Wolverine fan and even named my son Logan.
As a fan of both Spider-Men I wish they would give Miles his own villains it makes no sense for Miles to have any connection to villains that Peter has, making new villains would really help Miles become his own hero being that even in the comics he fights Peter's villains.
This is very simple.
They need to look at two things:
1) How well did the standalone Miles Morales game do compared to the original Spider-Man game.
2) In Spider-Man 2, did players spend more time as Peter or Miles?
That will tell them clearly which Spider-man players prefer.
I can definitely tell you that I spent more time as Peter when I could, and only upgrades Miles got were from the shared upgrades. I focused on Peter's personal upgrades before the thought of touching Miles's personal upgrades crossed my mind.
It's not about which Spider-Man YOU prefer; it's very much about which one THEY prefer you prefer, and since you won't make the "right" choice, they'll make it for you. 🤷♂️
I platinumed first Spider-Man, bought every dlc, but actually never played Miles Morales, even if it's available for free in PS+. Not because I'm racist or something, but because Miles is a noname for me. I'm from generation for whom Spider-Man was and always will be Peter Parker
@@Lightna I did the same. I spent all my time in the game as Peter Parker unless I was forced otherwise because of the mission. And I even avoided doing Miles's missions because I wanted to spend more time with Peter-Spider-man. All my skill points were also either in the dual tree or Peter's. I only picked up a single skill in the Miles tree. Insomniac better learn this lesson before they throw away millions of dollars & years of work building a game no one's going to buy/play. (or certainly not enough to make it worthwhile)

It's extremely important they do well. Has Peter Paker ever been replaced in any movie as not being spiderman? No because the movie will do bad. Even the spider verse movies were not huge successes financially. It's simple numbers. Spiderman miles morales sold 6.5 million units. First Spiderman game sold over 20 million units. This one might not surpass the first spiderman game in total sales... so if that's the case why the Fock would Sony executives allow that from Insomniac? Sony will do what the did to Naughty Dog, fired and split alot of them up and put different devs to their team. So the few Devs in insomniac that pander to keep thar ESG score up because they head deep in woke ideology will be moved and given less voice until they quit.
When DC comics tried to make Dick Grayson into the new Batman they tried to give him his own rogues gallery and he also had a different dynamic with his Robin (Damien Wayne) with Damien being the aggressive one of the two.
I checked out, when they changed Peters Model in the Spider-Man Remaster. The first Model looked like an Adult Peter that fit the narrative. The new one looks more like Tom Holland and a Teenager.

The problem isn’t Miles himself. He’s actually a good character who isn’t just a bad race-swapped Spider-Man. The problem is that their attempts to force him to the forefront over Peter had very negative effects on the story. A lot of the main story beats would be so much more appropriate and meaningful for Peter’s arc but they just spiked Miles in sideways instead. A Miles game would be great but they need to define him outside of “this is Peter’s story but we’re having Miles do it instead”
This! I 100% agree. Miles isn't the problem. It's the writers. They trying to replace Peter with Miles instead of being greater TOGETHER like they advertised. I expected them to be a dynamic duo instead of someone being better than the other. I wanted them to save each other and make each other better. Their brother bond is great. Also there wasn't enough fights where they fight together. I wanted them to be a true dynamic duo where as equals they can overcome the odds TOGETHER! Insomniac making the same thing what the comics are doing and not being different in this aspect where they are making Miles replace Peter.
Miles was created by woke Bendis, the same guy who destroyed Superman. This was always the plan.

The problem with Miles and these legacy characters is the writers don't bother to give them their own story or challenges they instead spend most their time trying show off how much better they are than the original without earning it! In the game Peter is the one going through all the emotional turmoil and is the main focus but Miles comes in and cleans up all his messes somehow proves he's a better hero when didn't actually face those challenges. The reason the Spiderverse movies are so good is because Miles actually has a part in the plot and character arc stuff is happening to him, he doesn't magically have all the answers like he does in this game. And if they bring in Cindy Moon/Silk it will just be more of the same
If Peter's out, so am I. Peter Park is THE Spider-Man... Miles, even years ago before the massive woke push into games, felt like he was being forced in to check some boxes. I haven't played Spider-Man 2 yet but I will since I already bought and opened it...after that, I'm done less they realize how stupid this decision was cause I'll bet money it hurts then sales with Spider-Man 3.

When it's comes to the Rouges gallery, I'm really hoping that they create some fresh and unique villains for both Miles and Cindy with great writing. Miles need to drop the name Spider-man and be given his own original hero name like Silk has.
The worst part about cindy in this world is that she wasn't locked away for ten years. That's a huge part of her character, it's her uncle ben. It also removes her connection to Morlun.

You hit the nail on the head, they decided to replace Peter so darn early. The fact that they showed Norman and Doc Ock at the end just made it more confusing. Doc Ock is going to be like, who are you? Where's the other Spider-Man? Once againz can't get emotionally invested, it just won't be as satisfying when you replace Peter. This game series kind of blew its load too early. I was also thinking they do the Jackal and the evil Miles Morales as Miles centric villians, but I don't know. The transition to focus on Miles is less convincing when you make his quests mostly filler. Also, his new costume really sucks, he looks like he is auditioning to become the new Aquafresh toothpaste mascot, and having his silly haircut stick out is just... yeesh.
What more is there to say that hasn't been? The fact that these people have told others to go get a different hobby for not liking their crap is insane. They came in, hijacked what was someone else's, and booted the founders out. But when you do it to them, you're the bad guy, but they can do it to you all day long. I wouldnt be surprised if they retconned some of the villians backrounds to make them fit Miles,kinda like they did with Prowler but itll be even weirder since these ones were already in the game but if they can completely change the looks of characters between games I doubt their against changing story points either

I'm hoping they mean Miles is the main Spiderman within the story, since that's how the game ended, and not that Miles will be the only playable Spiderman in the third game. It makes no sense to have Green Goblin next and not have Peter be a main playable character. The third game practically screams giving Peter "one last adventure" that culminates his storyline from the beginning of the first game. Afterwards, if they want to retire Peter and maybe make Spiderverse games focused on Miles I actually wouldn't mind at all.

Very good point about them maybe using the Doc Ock switches bodies with Peter storyline. While that was a good story for the comics, it showcased just how dangerous and powerful Peter could really be without his morals and conscience and how Doc realizes that Peter has to constantly pull his punches. If they use this storyline for the next game, it would be a disaster maybe.

I played the entire game with Miles in the costume with the hood and cape and the spider legs kind of on the mask. I went with the blue since the mask looked a little more lightning vibe that way. I also tried to webwing glide with Miles and only webswing on Peter.
Let me tell you, it made them feel a lot more like two different characters.

Getting rid of Spiderman in the third game is ridiculous
This essentially boils down the problem with MM in the first place: he's derivative. Moreover, he's derivative in the same universe as the character from which he is derived. MM doesn't really exist on his own. His characterization, not just his superhero alter ego, revolves around Parker. When you remove Peter from the story, Miles is just a husk of the same character. He's not the solo Spiderman, he's Peter's race swapped 2nd string version. He always has been. Even in the Spiderverse movies, his existence is only relevant due to his proximity to the real Spiderman.
I felt this coming since I saw the first footage of Spiderman 2. The focus was clearly on Miles. Thats why I didnt buy this game until now despite loving the first game.
I think miles needs his own rouge gallery of villains. I also think he should get his own city too. Let Peter have New York and maybe miles could have something like Boston. Just a thought.

I think there may be a possibility that they use Doc Ock and GG to show Miles that, even though he "got it", he still needs Peter and it forces Peter back into action for SM3? Granted it would be rehashing what they did in this game, but it "could" save the story IF they go that route. Who knows. Great vid :)
Even if they go this route, it means Peter will be playable only in the second or third act. He should be playable from the start.
