He wouldn't have been able to make that 14k regularly because within that first month he probably ran through all the clients he would've ever had. Then he probably found out that gaining genuine customers outside his existing connections wasn't easy. That combined with window washing being something that's done once a year... that $14k monthly was quickly looking like $14k annually.
This is a prime example of how rich people (and people from rich families) live in a completely different world than the rest of us. And how they can make all the wrong decisions and still end up on top.

As someone who holds a PhD degree, spent 15+ years in research and development (PhD and industrial jobs), and worked in tech industry for many years, I can say for certain that an “R&D project that will bring extra revenue” won’t work the way he thinks it does.
And as someone who doesn't hold a PhD degree, spent 6 years in hospitality and 3 years in Warehouse operation, and never worked in tech industry ever, I can say for certain that an "R & D projects never lifts off and a waste of tax payer's money."

This is a really interesting interview to get into the mind of Gen Z. He choose not to go to college which you don’t see in Millienials who attended college at a higher rate. Gen Z is also heavily interested in working for themselves and hitting a business out of the park. However this is the first economic down turn they’ve seen vs Millenials who witnessed and in a lot of ways were effected by 2008. I started my exterior cleaning company 3 years ago. The amount of time, money, ad placements, word of mouth etc that goes into scaling a service based business. Maybe he did somehow market his brand new company, make 14k and dip in a month. It’s just so hard believing but not impossible. Last year was our second full year, we did close to 80k which I was super proud of. It’s not much but its big for us only being two years in. I busted butt to make happen. I just don’t believe it’s as simple as I can go tomorrow and find work and make 2-$500 after not putting anything into it for 6 months. Shoot even for us, we have 100s of clients & market our butts off and a job even this week isn’t guaranteed. Nonetheless, I wish this young man success in whatever he does!

Basically kid made 14k a month as owner operating a window washing business. Thought working 8-10 hrs a day 5 days a week was abnormal and thinks that is a burnout zone. Saw he had 10k saved and justified cutting his hrs to a couple of jobs a months saying hey I can stop working and just start another business that makes more with less work. But hasn't moved on any ideas for 3 months.
With his current mindset he will be a starving entrepreneur for life, jumping from business to business. He has not realized the window washing business is needed to fund his next ideas and is better to have that money growing in the bank rather than running out of money launching failed businesses then going back to washing again as a back up. Hope he changes.
I feel like he’s at a huge crossroads in his life in terms of entrepreneurship, creativity, responsibility, and drive. I hope he’s able to make smart decisions

I find it very hard to believe that someone would burn a 14k/ month profit business at 19 years old. Either he isn't telling the truth, is actually that lazy, or has some other financial backing from family in order to ditch that business.

This is a really interesting interview to get into the mind of Gen Z. He choose not to go to college which you don’t see in Millienials who attended college at a higher rate. Gen Z is also heavily interested in working for themselves and hitting a business out of the park. However this is the first economic down turn they’ve seen vs Millenials who witnessed and in a lot of ways were effected by 2008. This generation also saw, as Caleb pointed out, shows like Shark Tank or other teens who have may a lot of success in things like drop shipping. Also playing in the points game on credit cards at 19 seems really dangerous. He isn’t handling carrying a balance well now thats just going to get worst as his expenses go up.
He also seems to think 500-1k a day is just typical and has lost all meaning of the value of money. He needs to work that Chipotle job so he’ll come back to his senses.

Like hardwork like that for 2 or 3 years and maybe you just sell the business or something. I just think that's weird to walk away from a successful business to THINK about another business. And then to spend so much money on an out of state girlfriend? I really don't feel like he has a realistic basis to burn through that cash like that. Spending $2500 on a girlfriend/boyfriend a month at 19 is just not a good idea. I get being young and impulsive, but his thing is "I'll always have this opition" which could go away in an economic downturn. I would just use the cash income now til build up the comfort to experiment with new idea

Here's my two cents. He didn't go to college so got given his college fund (I'm almost certain he is from a wealthy family that would have that). He spent it all on the truck and contactless window washing equipment. Did it for a while, realised that he doesn't want to be out in the sun all day doing manual labour so he just stopped.
And when he had a great business in his hands, he dropped it like a hot coal. He can try to restart the business, but his clients likely found a new service.

I don't want to ____ on his dreams here, but it's totally possible to develop ideas while working at your window washing business. You don't need to take months off to develop ideas. In fact, most of the best ideas happen when you're doing something else. I think he should keep doing what's working for today, while planning for tomorrow.

Starting a small business and coming up with new ideas is great but you can do that while still working. You also shouldn't just surround yourself with yes men; figure out all the ways that your business can fail like Caleb is doing and then figure out how to sell your idea as unique
I started my exterior cleaning company 3 years ago. The amount of time, money, ad placements, word of mouth etc that goes into scaling a service based business. Maybe he did somehow market his brand new company, make 14k and dip in a month. It’s just so hard believing but not impossible. Last year was our second full year, we did close to 80k which I was super proud of. It’s not much but its big for us only being two years in. I busted butt to make happen. I just don’t believe it’s as simple as I can go tomorrow and find work and make 2-$500 after not putting anything into it for 6 months. Shoot even for us, we have 100s of clients & market our butts off and a job even this week isn’t guaranteed. Nonetheless, I wish this young man success in whatever he does!

I really hate any concept of a "wellness" company unless you have actual peer reviewed articles to support your claims (published in a reputable journal). Sooooo much (I'd argue the majority) of "wellness" claims are just BS.
You hit the nail on the head, comes down to nothing more than trying to find the shortcut. He’s okay with doing the work to build the business. But, wants to find the brilliant idea that he can get bought out for in 5-10 years.
And the window washing business is one that takes many more years to get to that place of being bought out. I have to believe Shark Tank and social media perpetuates the idea of how easy it may be to just “build a business” and sell it for millions of dollars.
The fact he is sitting down at the age of 19 to discuss finances means he will be financially stable in the future, most people dont even consider their finances until their mid 20s if not later, hes miles ahead of 90% of kids his age, I think he knows this and it gives him an ego which could hurt him

He didn't make that much. He made 14k total over 4 non-consecutive weeks. I'm surprised that Caleb didn't tell him NOT to roll that number together and call it 14k / month on the basis that having enough clients to sustain that rate consistently takes time.

I don't understand why he needs some random idea like HONEY, you have a business that's wildly successful in a short time and you already have all the expertise to do it. D: If you want to do well IMO the first thing you need to do is get out of the mindset of counting your chickens before they hatch - until youve MADE that money or GOTTEN paid back for a loan, you are simply in debt. Not planning for things going really wrong is a big mistake and Im worried a lot of people in this generation havent truly experiences what a bad economic downturn can do. Caleb, something that I would really appreciate seeing is dating within your finances. I don't feel like a lot of people approach dating from this aspect (on equal terms, at least), but it's a necessity for a healthy relationship.

Clients like services that are consistent. He thinks the clients will just come back to him when he feels like returning, but they’ll be hiring someone else.
I know this because I own a small business and the key to success has been to be consistent with the clients. I work 12hr days and I’m 46. This kid doesn’t wanna work hard; sad.
