Oh man, my life is so much easier as an adult than it was when I was a kid. My parents were a mess and contently getting married and divorce. Dad had 4 wives, was married 8 times and divorced 8 times (married and divorced my mom 4 times). Mom has had 3 husbands + 1 fiancee, and 5 divorces. We lived in poverty, lived in trailer, barns, or homeless shelters. Lived in 13 different states and I ended up dropping out after the 9th grade. Moved out when I was 15, got my life organized, got my bachelors and masters and a really good career that pays very well. I read like crazy growing up, sometimes a book a day, because we didn't have TV so we went to the library all the time and it was a great way to distract myself from what was going on. Stopped reading (for pleasure) when I was in college because I had so much to read for my classes and I worked full-time. I still get really nostalgic about my childhood. It was really exciting, urgent, frantic, fun, and adventurous. Now I feel like my life feels stagnate and boring so I think back to when life was harder but constantly changing. We were in the racehorse industry and I miss it so much. It is heartbreaking sometimes to not have that life anymore and I went through a crisis after graduating with my BA and ended up in a cubicle. Felt like I had made a terrible mistake and had work so hard for a life I hated after giving up one that I loved. But now that I am the boss of my department I am a lot happier because there is so much high pressure and so many issues and decisions I have to make. Think I am just addicted to a frantic lifestyle. Also now have a killer office which drastically improved my life. I can never work in a cubicle ever again.
I feel exactly the same when I think about my childhood. Almost like I didn't appreciate it enough if that makes sense? I'm also someone who hates change and was a book mad only child :) Currently curled up with my two cats and loving your blog as always

We had the same situation last year, and my mum thought that my cat left a dead mouse or something in the kitchen (he's naughty like that sometimes), but it turned out to be the fridge haha Also I have the same feeling when finishing a series I started ages ago, I just cannot wait to do it and it's such a good feeling of accomplishment but it's somehow sad at the same time.
