Pretty sure it was during "King For A Day"era but i always imagined what the people in the next rooms where thinking when overhearing him recording that record lol!
@FacelessFlesh666 I believe you are correct. I remember buying this when it came out and for some reason being under the impression that it was old recordings from 89-90-ish. There's no information to verify that (other than, if i wasn't too lazy i could match the hotels in the liner notes with tour dates), and it was released in 96 just after the KFAD tour, so that makes sense. Well done.
I was impressed by that entire Mike Patton album, Adult Themes for Voice, how very experimental-noise-based & incoherent it was on one level, but how interesting & compelling the sounds and their arrangements were on another level.
I used to listen to Fantomas on the bus every day. Only later I learned the difference between closed-back and open-back headphones. Turns out I always chose to buy the latter.
hmmmm, i seem to've made a few errors that i should fix... i'll get to it. thanks very much for this, Anthony. i made this transcription so i could include the piece as a solo vocal work in my "Messagio Galore" sound poetry performances with Quatuor Gualuor, ordinarily at least a quartet of voices doing primarily nonsyntactical vocal compositions, a survey of international material from the dada days to the present. for the viewers: arrows preceding a sound indicate it's to be made on an inhalation. glad you enjoy it so much, Anthony! i never expected such an involved response: it's very much appreciated!
@@MakeWeirdMusic well, y'know, its effect on me is one of reässurance - both in the sense that someone took the time to take my effort seriously & it also showed me that it IS, in fact, followable/is at least relatively accurate in its depiction of what's going in terms of volume, relative pitches, timings etcet. & if you had fun making the video, you may then be able to imagine how much fun it can be to attempt to do these types of transcriptions, though they can be extremely frustrating when there are several voices going on at once (i've done duos, trios, quartets & a quintet arrangement of a many-voiced work), wherein one can get lost within seconds.

it's very much within the realm of sound poetry: Patton is no stranger to the work of the italian futurists (F.T.Marinetti, Giacomo Balla, Fortunato Depero...) & no doubt is aware of the dadaïsts who indulged in such works as well (Hugo Ball, Raoul Hausmann). dunno about his familiarity with more "recent" such composers (Henri Chopin, Franz Mon, Bernard Heidsieck, bpNichol, Steve McCaffery, Charles Amirkhanian, Richard Truhlar, Bob Cobbing, Jaap Blonk, etcet) but he's done such work with John Zorn ("Litany IV for Heliogabalus") & i'd not be surprised to find him at the very least passingly aware of the genre's history. sound poetry is by no means limited to the middle of the 2oth century: it's alive & well but still viewed as a "freak show" by the literary & musical worlds between which it exists & borrows from.
I love that this is what he was doing in his hotel room while touring behind the massively successful "The Real Thing." 😂

that & defecating into hairdryers, allegedly. chump. still a genius though.

Patton is the GOAT
He's not a goat. He's a pimpopotamus.
Whatever he is, he's a genius.
Stockhausen has some brilliant lectures on youtube about composing with phonetics.
Patton is out of this world. When I heard he did all the crazy zombie voices and screams for the movie Legion I was not at all surprised. Wild stuff.
I didn't know he did that. I'll have to check it out
@@MakeWeirdMusic sorry, the movie was "I Am Legend", got that mixed up

Glad you saw it as an honorable work. I was slightly worried because I don't know you. But I had so much fun making this video!

This is whacked, and I love it! So is there music behind all this you still need to transcribe?
@@Bob-of-Zoid John Curry, the transcriber of this piece, has a whole bunch of them! I’m so happy about it!
no, it's a solo voice work

Never checked out "Adult Themes for Voice", but a lot of this sounds to be from Disco Volante with Mr. Bungle.
It is a separate album from DV, which I made an entire video about a few years ago.
Perhaps the uncredited sequel to 'Several Species of Small Animals...' by Floyd?
Quintessential Patton.
Agreed
OMG I saw my email password in there!
LOL!
This is the type of reason why one buys a sampler (or downloads a sampler app, these days).
Yeah. He did this in 1997 with just a microphone, some effects, and a tape recorder. Crazy!
Yeah, they're SO weird and crazy they have to pay people to say so. Mr Bung Hole.
Who do they pay? You think they have the money to do so?
