Stephanie, just found your channel and your analytical process of comparing ingredients in such detail and your spreadsheets when you do eyeshadow reviews speaks so fully to my inner nerd. I LOVE IT!!! I think you have now become my number 1 reviewer. Opinion plays a factor but I love the balance of facts.
Great review. As always, wonderfully detailed. Based on your review, I've been wearing this for the past week or so (NW15 so you can tell how pale I am) and it's become my new favorite foundation. It doesn't settle into my fine lines and wrinkles and lasts through my work day.You obviously spend a lot of time on research and give such great, informational reviews without a lot of unnecessary rambling. How do you not have more subscribers?!?
You say you're long winded but I say you're giving us the technical side of makeup which I love!!! Thank you for appealing to the makeup nerd in me lol. Did you ever make a decision between Mac Face and Body and Mac Waterweight??
I have yet to come across anybody who does reviews as detailed and helpful as you do them! I'm on the hunt for my perfect foundation. I'm a dry girl like you and at 44 I'm over full coverage and want to look like I have real life skin. I just ordered the Dior air flash because of that review you did. I also want that semi dewy look. Whenever I have a matte looks my skin feels so tight and dry I want to dunk my face in cold water for relief. And thanks to you my skincare game is on point and my skin has never looked better! ❤
i thought it was just me about the coloring. I'm usually and NW girl but it was so pink and dark. I had to get nc30 which didn't seem yellow at all it was more neutral. i absolutely love the foundation! your reviews are fantastic to the point and honest!
I just discovered you channel and I´m obsessed! Love how you get deep into the chem and biochem of products, as a Medstudent I just love understanding how everything works. lots of love form México. PS: If you ever purchase the Dior Forever foundation I´d love a good in depth review of that one :)
LOVE your videos! I watch so many beauty vloggers on TH-cam and I just recently started watching you. I have to say I love how informative and in depth you go. It's really helped me a lot to understand so much more other than just how it looks so thank you so much!!!
Loved your tutorial on the new Mac waterweight foundation!! I just got a sample of it from a MAC store to try it out and I did today and loved it!! Your description of it was to the T!! I loved the halo glow look my face had all day and actually I wore it 7 hours and it stayed put all day and looked beautiful! I too have dry skin but I do like to set my make up with a light dust of face powder with my big fan brush. The powder I used was my YSL pressed powder!! I'm going to be purchasing my bottle of this product tomorrow!!
I have oily skin and this foundation has worked out well for me when I was testing it out for my review and demo. I just set it with a mattifying powder and it didn't cake up/look heavy. I was a tiny bit oily around hour 5, but I just re-powdered and it was good as new! If I blot, I use a piece of Kleenex and it doesn't remove the coverage. I love wearing this as my every day foundation. :)
I prefer this foundation mixed w a bb cream. Diggin it. This foundation gets a great rating, scientifically speaking, for its skin benefits. 👸🏼 Thank you for this review.
Hey Stephanie! I would die to see your review on the Makeup Forever HD Foundation, unless you already have done it and I am just missing it! I heard you talk about it in a few of your other reviews. Thank you!
Stumbled upon this older video of yours while looking for help with MAC foundations. So glad you mentioned that MAC foundations are overly pink. I am a true neutral to cool skin tone, and I find NW20 to make me look sick - I have to add a lot of bronzer. I thought I was losing my mind! Picked up a NC20 in the pro longwear waterproof in hopes of mixing them.
I am soooo glad I found your channel! Lol so far I have watched all your liquid lipstick reviews. & I love your honest opinions and the facts you throw into the mix! :)
I'm surprised u haven't either tried or if u have- i'm surprised u don't love Urban Decay's Naked foundation. It's medium coverage with a dewy finish - u should try it if you haven't. xoxo toni
Great and thorough review. I appreciate that very much. 👍🏻 Gonna try out the sunscreen you use. I too have dry skin so although I moisturize, I haven't found anything with sunscreen that doesn't look thick...changing how my foundation or BB creams apply. I look forward to trying the Dr Dennis one out. 😊
+Vanessa Cevallos Its so nice! I agree, I prefer mineral sunscreens, and those are super thick, this is mineral, but in the best formula I have used. Let me know what you think :)
Great review. Will be waiting to see what you think after a week of wearing it. I have been eyeing this foundation do you think a more mature skin could wear this?
+Tyra Hudson I think this would be great on mature skin. Its light weight, so won't look caked on. I do love it for about 6 hours, then it gets a bit shiny, but I could blot with powder throughout the day. I love the finish
Thanks Stephanie...I think Im gonna head down to Macys for a match...maybe a sample for home if they do that...I loved how the finish just glowed and emphasized how beautiful your skin is.
I really love your reviews! You do so much research on them and so it's very complete (not everyone does that). I wish that your videos be discovered by more people because you deserve it! Great job! :) (please don't mind my writing mistakes if i did some, I'm a french canadien)
I was so pleasantly surprised by this foundation! Not normally a fan of MAC foundations (with the exception of F&B) but this one is fabulous. I like this much better than any serum foundation. The shades are funky- I had to go darker and warmer with this. I'm normally a NW 25-30- and I'm a NC 30 in WaterWeight. Great video as always- you are my favorite YT personally 💕
+finessence808 I use La Mer Powder to set my under eyes, but since I am dry, my makeup doesn't really go too far. Powder makes me matte & dry, so I try to avoid it. No setting spray unless its a special event. They are not great for your skin, so I try to use sparingly. A good skin care regime & face prep helps
yes , i have my dior nude aire serum that i love but on expouse to the sun i got burn. cause its like u said, i wont be thick enough to protec me from the sun just thst i learn that the wrong wayy xD
I just got samples of this foundation last week and i'm IN LOVE WITH IT! the colors are a bit funky but i like the nc25 for me, what would you recommend setting this with if you want to extend the wear for the summer days? i tried the mac mineralize skin finish natural with it but it didn't wear as well.
Thank you for reminding people that the SPF in foundations is not enough...Unless they are heavily applying it, and then reapplying it a few hours later, they wont be benefiting from Sun protective ingredients
Love your videos!!! I seriously have so much respect for you, can we just be friends and you teach me everything you know!!! Lol I do have a question though, How do u stop foundation from settling into fine lines!!? Or smile lines?? 😘😍😍😍
I am obsessed with MAC Face and body. I use it for myself and in my kit with the Cover fx drops to color match clients. Do you feel like this is different enough formula wise (from face and body) to still give it a shot for the difference in price? $33 for 1oz of Water Weight vs $36 for 4oz of Face and Body
+Jenny V I like to apply it with a beauty blender. It's very liquidy. Avoid any silicone based primer, doesn't mix well with water (Face & Body is water based). I squeeze some on my finger. Dot on my face, then blend with sponge. If you want more coverage, you have to let the layers dry in between. Hope that helps.
This foundation was horrible for me..I am combo oily..and it settled into my fine lines and around my nose. I ordered this as soon as it hit the Mac site! Unfortunately I won't wear it again..reminded me of the Born This way which did the same for me..
+Tiffany deLeon Did you prime with a silicone based primer & try setting it with a powder? That may help, I have heard from some oily girls they love it, but I can see it being shiny for sure!
+Stephanie Nicole I used the Mac primer they sent with it as a sample..the skin base visage.. I didn't set it with a powder though . I just think it's too shiny for me.. I love a matte finish lol Any primer u recommend maybe I can try it out again..thx
+Tiffany deLeon Anything with silicone in it, it will help block oil production on your skin. Benefit Porefessional, Clinque has one too, or the Tarte one I use. Then the foundation, then set with any powder. Let me know if it goes any better
+Bri I had bought them to try. I have quite a few of their brushes I gave a chance to. I can't review something if I don't have experience with it. You can get the same Crown Brush for less, I found, C439 bit.ly/1TA4zgs
I hope you will give me some help. I've been searching for the right foundation 3 years now. I'm incredibly fair. I've found color matches that just ended up not working because of formula and visa versa. My skin is sensitive in that it can dry out if washed too much or bad weather. And it reacts to certain brands, I got hives from bare minerals bare skin. I'm Y205 in MUFE HD new line, it just didn't work right. Same with UD naked in .05 which looked like clay kind of coming unmolded. I'm basically trying to avoid the thicker, heavy formulas unless absolutely necessary. I got the Smashbox BB water in fair, the lowest and my skin loved it. And I had the no makeup look while looking flawless but sadly far too dark. I heard about the water weight being a dupe. I was going to go get matched, my way because I trick the machines and even eyes. I'm warm toned naturally but haven't been out in sun to have color in over 20 years. My skin can handle a tiny bit of yellow or pink undertone. I prefer neutral. I'm exhausted. I just want to match my pale self and look smooth and natural. You're video has given me second thoughts. the Smashbox never once (I kept getting sample refills to wear both on its own and as a base) it never oiled up on me like the Mac just did on you. I love the idea of some glow but not oily shine. How has it worked for you since you filmed this? I'm pretty broke right now. Just trying to find my foundation so I can practice with accuracy and feel good about my makeup when out. Any thoughts or suggestions or warnings? I very much appreciate it. Thank you.
I have had all the same problems as you. I am EXTREMELY fair but also have sensitive problem skin. I used to use a pure white foundation (manic panic) to mix with others, but got tired of the difficult process and the finish. I've found that the only two brands that match people are pale as me are Bobbi Brown and Nars. But I am allergic to the overwhelming fragrance of BB, so I can't use it. NARS however is PERFECT. The sheer glow foundation in Siberia is wonderful and the radiant creamy concealer in Chantilly is a MUST have. Look up the reviews, seriously. It's the palest most neutral color I've ever come across and the finish is flawless when used with a beauty blender. Hope this helps! Also apparently KVD came out with super pale new lock it foundation colors, so I'm definitely going to give them a try.
+Chloe draws They are linked in the description bar, I'm on my dashboard, so I can't see it from here while reply. But I always link everything so you can see. Thanks for watching!
I "bake" that area with loose powder, finish the rest of my makeup and then dust the excess off. It help significantly for smile lines! I also do it for the area between my brows because i tend to get a line there too. I use the laura mercier powder to bake
Ellie Saye i know this is weird but what do they smell like? Im starting out with makeup and I was thinking of buying the waterweight foundation but if it smells awful I dont want it 😂
FINALLY someone that understands that a first application doesn't equal a review.
You're so detailed! I love it so much. Your videos keep getting better and better :)
+Lizzy G Thanks Lizzy!

I'm still loving this foundation! I mix it w a bb cream and it's a staple. You can't beat the skin benefits too. Great review!
I just discovered you channel and I´m obsessed! Love how you get deep into the chem and biochem of products, as a Medstudent I just love understanding how everything works. lots of love form México.

You are thorough and knowledgable about the products! Awesome! *new sub*
I've played with this foundation a lot and have loved mixing it with studio fix fluid or studio sculpt.
Loved your tutorial on the new Mac waterweight foundation!! I just got a sample of it from a MAC store to try it out and I did today and loved it!! Your description of it was to the T!! +Stephanie Nicole So awesome. Thanks, lovely!

Yes, I love it ❤️ Beautiful name, Giulietta!
Love your videos so informative you are so knowledgable. So happy I found you. You will be huge soon. Xoxo
+Maritza Hernandez Thank you so much Maritza :)
You are becoming one of my fav YTers. Great review Stef. I guess me and my oily skin will stay away from this foundation.
+samarahvonk Aww thank you! What an awesome compliment :)

This broke me out in so many cystic pimples I'm so sad because I absolutely loved everything else about the foundation 😩😩😩
Oh no, I'm sorry. Breaking out from foundation is one of my biggest makeup fears. Hopefully your skin recovers well😊.
Karen Diaz My skin HATES Mac foundations. I've tried several products and they always oxidize on my skin and make me break out.
Karen Diaz I love mac pro long wear and studio sculpt.....I bought this one recently and it broke me out so bad on my cheeks......
Karen Diaz my skin has broken out so bad in these days and I've been trying to figure out the cause... guess I've found it 😫
Yeah...this stuff makes me break out too!
I am soooo glad I found your channel! Lol so far I have watched all your liquid lipstick reviews. & I love your honest opinions and the facts you throw into the mix! :)
I'm so glad I found ur channel!!) you have the same taste in makeup as me and ur a straight shooter. I really appreciate ur vids!! Thanks 😉

love your reviews and i love your nails!
+Melissa Buckley Thank you so much Melissa!
Love your videos and obviously stalking your channel 😛 I have oily skin...you're the only reviewer I trust. What foundation would you recommend?
Loved this! What brand blotting papers do you use? I like the size.
+Val M. These are actually ones I got from my Tatcha purchase, they came free with the overpriced spray on lotion lol.seph.me/1PLPNQ8
Nice review Steph! :) what is that pretty light blue swatch on your hand? lol
+Jamie Manning Thank you! It was Blue Milk liquid liner by Limecrime :)
I love face and body as well, and I'm oily. I always set my foundation and I always use a matte primer though
I am oily and this foundation did not wear well for me. You are spot on. Can you review the EX1 foundation at some point?
I really love your reviews! You do so much research on them and so it's very complete (not everyone does that). I wish that your videos be discovered by more people because you deserve it! Great job! :) (please don't mind my writing mistakes if i did some, I'm a french canadien)

I love it.. well I have the Smashbox, but it's the same. I got it for $24 at Ulta!
I was so pleasantly surprised by this foundation! Not normally a fan of MAC foundations (with the exception of F&B) but this one is fabulous. I like this much better than any serum foundation. Do you use setting spray? How does your makeup hold up without powder and just spray?do you not use powder at all not even to set your concealer?

+DJ Mama Currently I am using the Dr Dennis Gross Sheer Mineral Sun Spray - bit.ly/1MPANT3. Its a nice light coat.

I wouldn't. It's good, but I prefer F&B
I have the face and body, but I have trouble with it looking weird on my skin. I am wondering on now you like to apply it?
+Jenny V I like to apply it with a beauty blender. It's very liquidy. Avoid any silicone based primer, doesn't mix well with water (Face & Body is water based). I squeeze some on my finger. im so confused, because the 1st video I saw of yours was the review on morphe brushes... but here you used a morphe brush for foundation?
+Bri I had bought them to try. I have quite a few of their brushes I gave a chance to. I can't review something if I don't have experience with it. You can get the same Crown Brush for less, I found, C439 bit.ly/1TA4zgs

Question! Why don't you set with powder?
+jillian weddle because I'm dry. I prefer to be luminous. And powder soaks up what little moisture I have & can leave me feeling/looking cracked
How much do those brushes retail for?
+Chloe draws They are linked in the description bar, I'm on my dashboard, so I can't see it from here while reply. But I always link everything so you can see. Thanks for watching!
Do u recommend this with brush or beauty blender ?
Miss p she said she liked the side with the beauty blender better and then touched the brush side up
It’s probably made in Belgium because all of Estèe Lauder cosmetics are also made there. Probably made in the same factory! 😄
Is there anything you can do to prevent smile lines? not necessarily talking about this foundation. 🙂
face tape? :p
A smoothing primer would probably work best. I know Stephanie likes the Tarte Smoothing primer
I "bake" that area with loose powder, finish the rest of my makeup and then dust the excess off. It help significantly for smile lines! I also do it for the area between my brows because i tend to get a line there too. I use the laura mercier powder to bake
You can apply a tiniest bit of eye primer and I find that using a very small amount of powder also helps:)
Baking! I set around my mouth with a translucent powder and then brush it off
Do you prime with this???
What blotting papers do you use?
mac isnt the one thats backwards its all the other companies that are backwards, mac follows the color wheel
Stephanie you have a lot of freckles in this video that you don't have in the latest videos in 2016. Is it because of the serums you are using?
This a yellow tone right?
you have beautiful hands
are your lips natural?
+JosefineVV they are
I love MAC products but i absolutely hate the smell of their foundations
Ellie Saye i know this is weird but what do they smell like? Im starting out with makeup and I was thinking of buying the waterweight foundation but if it smells awful I dont want it 😂
Isla Peaker I think it's hard to explain the scent, it's just a little off putting.
i have this product and ive uad it for a while now at first it waa good but now its messy like ths one you compared it too so wasteful!
Why would anyone wanna wear that if the oils separate and just blot off lol
I don't like this on you. Have you ever tried Chanel Perfection Lumier Velvet?
I don't think a foundation would process extra oil for your face..
