Thanks for sharing. We bought this same one about 2.5 years ago and we have enjoyed it VERY much. It is great for hauling almost anything. YOu can remove the carpet in the back and it's fully washable with a hose on the inside. We've hauled a refridgeerator before, and we lined the back with a tarp, roll down the mid window and pile in yard debris to haul to the dump.
When crawling through midgate, i can roll down window and lower midgate after lowering the back seats. kinda slick! My rear gate won't open at all right now :( i cannot hear the motor when pressing the power switches.
My problem is I got both latches to open when I press pressure switch but they will not lock again I have done the motor thing and motor spins like a champ just won’t lock back
Im having alot of issues lately with mine. Doing amazon flex im driving alot. Well yesterday it went nuts. The battery gauge needle just dropped all the way down overlapping the coolant temp gauge, rpms dropped and now reading 0 or a thousand lower than its supposed to depending on its mood. Gas gauge reading wrong which its done for a while now making long drives a adventure as you dont know how much gas you actually have. And the worse thing that happened yesterday is after swinging opening the tailgate to take a package out it now refuses ro close. When i try to close it it just swings back open. You can hear it connect but never seems to latch. Buttons also stopped working.😭 when it rains it pours.
Yes see now my bottom craw lock is broke too…and then I’m missing the arm like piece that’s suppose to detached and attached to the actual car itself so I can lay it down like a traditional tailgate. And can’t find these cars anywhere even in junkyards I got lucky once finding a few parts….l love this car tho it’s my forever car since it was my dad and he passed away.
Hi, my Tailgate (Endgate), is not opening, window goes down but not up ruff is not moving.I did same like you on video, still not working. On your Envoy ruff opens when the door is open? When I disconnected and connected all door wire connectors again car makes sound, just lower lock (like yours in video) do not make sound. I connected lower lock on upper connection and it is making sound, that means that the lock is working and lower wire has problem?ThanksPaul
I have a problem and that's another video that show you how it exactly how to get that switch out of the tailgate Komatsu. For Envoy XUV I believe I have to change both
Hey question, I inherited my dad’s same exact vehicle and he passed away in May this year. My dad didn’t know what this car could do either when he first bought it! It’s so cool I love it! But when I got it after he passed away, it was broke same ways too kinda. I went to the junkyard and got the parts and fixed what I could…I’m missing one piece that extends by the hook to open it like a tailgate but can still use it. I fixed it as best as I could…window works too both of them..but I live in Ohio too. What part of Ohio do you live in? I’m in Cincinnati. I don’t know who he bought it from he’s had only had it for 2 1/2 years.
My rear gate won’t open at all not even nor will my midgate window. I can hear the motor like it’s trying to move but it doesn’t go up or down. What can I do to get the rear gate open? I need to change my tail lights and can’t get to them. The emergency escape does not work nor does the window.
If you can't get your midgate down that is going to be tough as you need to be in the back of the truck to take off the panel that will allow you to access the latches and trip the manual override. If the motor is running on the window for both the midgate and the rear then it probably isn't a bad control board. I will check my midgate and see if there is a way to access the internals from inside the cab. You probably have a bad regulator for the midgate if the motor is spinning. Does the rear window also spin? Can you place your key in the rear hatch and turn it and hear the motor spinning for the rear hatch also?
@@JoshAQ no the rear doesn’t do anything at all. The window doesn’t go up and down and the gate doesn’t open at all. I changed the fuses tried to open it by the yellow release button I could hear a motor when I pressed but it wouldn’t open. Trying to open it with the key didn’t work either. I had to take the back panel off just to pull the window back up because it went down and never came back up. I need to change my tail lights and can’t get to them.
@@trulyfe3297 I can say for certain you need a new window regulator. I replaced mine and it has the same issue, would go down but not back up. The portion that held the bottom of the window rusted away. I think it was like 100 bucks or so to fix.
Hello, I may be late to ask, but, where did you get that photo on the top left of your thumbnail. It looks like a photo for a listing for sale. I need to buy a new one soon because the whole switch in the actuator broke off so the computer thinks it is constantly open. Please get back to me with a link or information to a product link where I can buy a new one. Thank you.
I got it from a google image search for the part number. I will look around and see if I can find it again, but it was 5 years ago, so probably not still around.
have you had any issues with the driver door ajar light being on? my 2005 envoy xuv slt withing the 1st month of owning it had the light come on. I ignored it but now it stays on and tends to turn my radio off even when the truck is on. security remote constantly beeps and shows a flashing door telling me the door it open.
Oh man, no I have not had any issues like that. I have a ghost battery light, where the battery warning indicator is half lit, due to I think a faulty diode. That sounds weird, like maybe a bad module? Good luck, and I am sorry I can't be of more help.
I've got a 06 xuv. The tailgate will release to swing, but won't release to drop. I can hear it doing something, but wont release. Any idea's? Thank You
Hi, my guess is that the top passenger side latching solenoid is stuck, or broken. Both the top latches need to release in order for the gate to drop. And since the top drivers side is used when you swing out and it is still working so it has to be the top passenger side. If you have mechanical and electrical ability you can further diagnosis the solenoid by pulling its plug and seeing if it geting 12v when the handle is pulled. If it is then it is the latch, either replace or tear it apart like I'd did. Their should be a small dc motor with a worm drive pinion on its shaft and a limit switch I think. My guess is the dc motor is seized like mine was and just needs some light oil and run in under no load conditions. Good luck and I hope this helps!
Hey, I didn't actually buy any of these latches as I was able to get the one in the vehicle working again. The little dc motor with worm gear was seized and I added some oil to the motor and worked it back and forth to free it up and get it working again. I did a quick search and it does seem like they are not readily available except in a used form on Ebay and the like. A junk yard or pick and pull might be your best bet. So far it has been 5 years and the latch I freed up is still working. Perhaps you can get yours working as well with some oil and cleaning. Good Luck!
My problem is I got both latches to open when I press pressure switch but they will not lock again I have done the motor thing and motor spins like a champ just won’t lock back
So my soft pads on my 04 gmc tailgate are out, I need to change my brake light but bc it won’t unlatch I can’t. Is there another Or manual way to unlatch it at all?
If you go to the video at 13:29 you can see where I take the latch out and on the bottom left of the latch assembly you can see the manual latch release. It is a tan/gold color piece of metal. It just below the round portion of the housing and to the left. That is what you have to push/pull to release the latch. To get to it without opening the door is tough. you will have to crawl into the back undo the bolts holding the plastic cover on the door. With the window up you can then have access to the insides of the door and try and push the latch release with a stiff but bendable rod. An inspection camera would probably help a lot in doing this to try and see what you are doing. It is not an easy task. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Hey Lou, it would depend on why it is stuck shut. Is it the switch or the latch. You can check if it is the switch by unscrewing the screws holding the large inside panel on the tailgate. I just checked and you can remove the inside panel while the tailgate is closed. Then reach in and unplug the electrical connector from the switch. Bridge the contacts on the connector and see if the door opens. If it works than it is your switches and you can get new ones or try and fix the old ones like I did. If it does not work for either connector but you hear the solenoids trying to open you may be able to override the solenoids using the manual toggle switch on the side of each solenoid. But be careful here because you will need to roll down your window slightly so that the glass pane does not catch the roof seal when opening, but don't roll down the window too far to where it cuts off access to the top solenoid. The tailgate is pretty heavy and don't override all three solenoids at the same time. If you bridge the pressure switch contact wiring and you don't hear the solenoids triggering then you have a control module issue I think. At which point you would need to look to see if you are getting any voltage across the contacts, and or check for a blown fuse. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
Neither the lift or endgate worked on my 04. Replaced both switches. Did the center switch, or the liftgate, FIRST. Checked it. It worked! The liftgate dropped just like it should and laid flat. Replaced the endgate switch. It worked! Except now, only after replacing the endgate switch, both pressure switches open the endgate, not the liftgate. GGRRRRR! Any ideas as to what is happening?
Morgan Ridder, Congrats on tackling the switch replacement! I see two possible things it could be. First one.) The lower drivers side solenoid lock is stuck open and the passenger side upper solenoid lock is stuck closed. This would imitate what you have described. It is similar to when my lower drivers side solenoid lock was stuck open. I would ensure these two solenoids are being actuated. If they work properly then it is probably second thing. Second one.) The brain box that tells the tailgate how to operate is malfunctioning. I think there is a module responsible for checking to see if the glass is down when you pull the liftgate switch for example, or makes the glass rolldown only slightly when you pull the endgate switch. That is all I can think of to help. I think I showed the pulling of the solenoid for the lower driver's side in the video, but it would be similar to that for the upper solenoid as well I would think. Good Luck and if you have specific questions for how it should behave let me know and I will do what I can to answer them based off how mine works. Did your tailgate or endgate switches ever work for you since you owned the vehicle?
Yes, but it is a bit involved. There are manual override levers on all three solenoids. Make sure you roll down the window a little bit before overriding them. You will need to climb in the back and remove the interior tailgate panel like I did the axcess the solenoids. It is a tight fit. Good luck!
My tail gate windoe doesn't go down anymore after i closed it maybe a little to hard. I know it a way to recalibrate it. By holding down one of the switches but i don't know which one.
