Thanks for the vid! Quick suggestion though.... If you attach the rubber "inboard" and have the rollers on the two ends of the bow you will have a lot less finger pinch. The angle at the arrow at full draw will be a lot more open 😊
Really cool design and idea, try putting the pulleys higher on the riser and put 2 string stops. Add a rest, sight and maybe other accessories and you got the coolest homemade slingbow I've seen!
Yes, a sling shot type slingbow is more compact and can shoot arrows just as well. However this bow and arrow style seems like it might give you a more natural draw for the bow providing comfort and maybe accuracy. But the biggest part is this style you can modify more than a slingshot style. Realistically you can put a rubber band between your thumb and pointing finger and shoot an arrow from there, of course your performance would be relevant to your shooting instrument. Not putting down the slingshot bow at all. I think they're great. But this one seems so much more fun. At least to me.

This is good work, especially with the tools you had on hand. Next evolution could be to use this same design and add a stock and trigger to make a large crossbow! (Or scale it down to a regular size one.) I may try myself.

With an elastic as the string, you couldn't flex the bow before you broke the elastic itself, so kind of useless for the limbs to be able to flex. Also wide limbs so the elastic is longer and you don't need to put too much stress on it, or have to pull very hard.

Length of bow, unlike a normal bow, this one doesn’t have the arms flex much/at all, this just relies on a stiff rigid structure like a compound bow. Thus bow length can be shortened without decreasing the force the string applies on arrow. Thus this is more compact. Easier to make this than a compound bow To Amelia. How you need to properly treat the wood, or for a cheaper route, go pvc maybe with some fiberglass rods, this is simpler just cutting some slabs of wood. It’s a simpler design, but accuracy wise maybe worse than a bow, longevity wise as wise, may be worse
This is genuine criticism towards your video. I feel as if this kind of music is used too often for the "life hack" crafty channels. It sort of clumps your content into that sort of ridiculous genere of annoying videos. You're clearly a very talented person and I enjoyed watching you make this bow, however the music really kills the vibe of your ingenuity. I'd love just hearing the sounds of a craftsman in a wood shop making awesome things instead of the stereotypical craft channel music that so many channels have adopted, most of which aren't half as good as you. This is just my opinion of course and really doesn't mean anything more than anyone elses. But I have a feeling others might feel the same. Much respect.

Absolutely no mechanical advantage over a regular slingshot. I did the math. If you had used an actual bow string then the arms of the bow would store the mechanical energy, but the use of rubber made the bow pointless. You literally could have made the bow like a big letter C and achieved the same result of using longer rubber. And what is the point of the pullies? Rolling friction VS. A rounded guide would be a negligible difference. I really like the concept but I'm sorry to pee on the parade. A regular bow with a sling shot handle mounted at 90° at the grip would be much more efficient. Much like a crossbow without a stock.
