You are really a joy to watch. I love the Jax thought captions lol, cracks me up. Great video once again. Itchy scratches to Jax and safe travels to you both. Peace
Hey Bro! I'm from Bellingham myself, and just took this trip in my RV a couple weeks after you did. I'm in Austin, Texas right now. I love everything about your videos, personality and honesty, you're an awesome guy. Keep it up man!
Having lived in Texas for over 16 years before moving to Europe I can say you will like Texas, even for your brief stay to trade out the RV. Enjoy your stay Y'all :-)
Going down that lonesome highway.....Then came Eric... It is always fun to see the sights from the windshield.. A lifetime ago when I lived in the US, I had plenty of windshield time as well. Good that you acknowledge the disclaimer regarding film... Keep your security up.. your close to your goals... Keep the focus.... Drink more green tea... acquire the taste... Cheers and safe travel, keep on trucking.
Awesome gas/gift shop, I stopped there back in 1997, and then went through Texas onward to the east coast, just as you're doing. Safe travels my friend (you too Jax)
Hey Eric last year when I was living in the back of my Nissan pick up before I put blankets up for insulation and before I got a little buddy Mr. heater propane heater I spent four days below zero daytime temperatures in Colorado that's when I decided after the fourth day to get a little propane heater.... Not so bad as long as you stay bundled up getting into a cold sleeping bag at night sucked though.... It was 3 degrees last nite but I kept the heater running periodically.. Stayed around 50 in the rv. .. Stay warm Eric.
Glad you are on your way to newer digs. Does Tilly sound a bit weak? Who are some of the van/rv dwellers on youtube that you subscribe to? Safe travels
When it gets below 25 here I run my engine chassis heater to get it warm quick and then let the other heater maintain it I am careful about Co so usually good to drive around the block on high heat to avoid carbon poisoning. Then let RV heater take over once really warm. Love the store you were at..I will have a future story video about something on the shelf in that store.
its cold here in Kansas also. I've been looking at motorhomes and hope to be a fulltimer soon. Have my sights on one hoping I get it will keep you updated and keep up the videos love them
Dude you still have a long haul to get to Dallas-FT Worth from El Paso. It's over 600 miles. I happen to live in North TX north of Dallas. So welcome to TX. It's a big state. Enjoy the hospitality & the good weather..... BTW give Jax's a rub for me....LOL
Used to live in New Mexico by the continental divide but it was off of I 40 just east of Gallup. A really cool place with scenery to die for and elevation over 7000 ft.
Could you interview some of these cool people on the road? Like for how long have they had that store with all the eccentric stuff in it? And also maybe interview someone at an RV-friendly Walmart about what they think of RV:ers. Love your videos as always!
I bet you are hanging for your new RV, wasn't sure she was going to start for a minute there... hahaha, cannot wait to see her, too excited for you both!!
Eric you should find the brake booster vaccum line on your RV and buy a can of "seafoam" ... put 1/3 of the can in the gas tank , 1/3 can in your oil , and slowly!!! suck up 1/3 can in your brake booster hose, then shut off RV and let sit for an hour. then start her up and drive.. clouds of thick white smoke will come out the exhaust for a few minutes (thats carbon being dissolved inside your engine) ...
Not sure if you have ever driven anything with a carburetor on a very cold morning, But this is very normal to have cold starts.Fuel injection tends to start much better than old carb'ed engines do. Every old car i had did this. But ran well when they warmed up.
Best way to get good fuel milage is to drive slower also try putting a aftermarket cold air return on your engine and also try Lucus fuel additive in your gas tank I use Lucus in my semi and my 1999 Mutang as well as my pick up truck and my 1983 Econoline 23ft Motorhome it works very well Lucus fuel additive is good for gas or diesel engines
Northern ,Central area of NM is my favorite . Lots of mountains, Love the smell of juniper. If you get on I-40 stop at the Blue Hole. Natural spring. super spot
The drop in the gas prices is truly welcomed, just hoping it stays this way through this coming Spring when I hit the road, going around the country. Sure would be nice. Love the video, and stay safe.
Regarding the gas: I see you posted this in January. That means you were using the winter blend in CA. CA has cheaper prices in the winter. Then the prices spike after they stop supplying winter blend and go back to the stuff we use in the summer. They talk about it in the news every year. It's late March now and our prices started to climb again early in the month.
Love the vids mate , we are in Scotland paying around £1.20 a ltr, we were at more .its cheep at the min, my c class transit did 25 to the gallon, sorry but your gas problem is the eng size , my transit was 2 ltr just and went fine. Hope all goes well for you .
Hope your staying warm : ). I spent last winter 2013 in my motor home in Jersey. I suffered only one night for a few hours at *27 in December. I do know it can be painful. I own 2 Coleman Sleeping bags for *30 weather. I think the Coleman goes down to *20. They are great in a pinch.....@ *50 degrees they worked great, just need to hide in them to cover your face or buy a face mask and gloves if your playing with the phone! lol! The cost is low for the warmth they give. Keep the faith, Sending Blessing! My extra little animal heater and I fit perfectly in one bag, Sasha my 20lb dachshund!
hey love the vids, never posted before but thought i would give you a heads up. if you do travel through dallas be aware that almost all walmarts in the area do not allow overnight parking. honestly i dont know where you could get away with parking in the area. it is a very disfunctional town i live in.

dude if you go back through N.M. you should visit some places like Soccoro, white sands, Truth or Cosnsequences, great hot springs! hit some of the real small places, great home cooked meals! N.M has some really interesting places to check out, just have to get off the beaten path, best of travels.
Hey Eric, Im in NM so I know a couple cool spots down south. Carlsbad Caverns & White Sands are cool spots to see. And also how dare you come through my state without meeting up for a beer!!?? HAHA Maybe on you're way back through. Good luck in you're travels!!!
Carlsbad Caverns is a awesome place. Walk down the natural entrance vs the elevator. And stay in the evening and watch the bats . Incredible. Bats may have left for the winter tho.
you could do with a really good minus zero sleeping bag like a real good camping bag makews a world of difference when your budgetting heat will keep you really warm.
How did Jax do in the cold? I hope your new Rig gets better mileage... I own a diesel Coach and I get 9.5... I don't know if you use Cruise control? Keep up the good work...
I was somewhat bummed out to hear that you're not going through Houston. I was going to ask you out for dinner but I will catch up with you some other time.I am a 75% full-time my job requires me to travel extensively and there's generally few hotels where I go. if you think a $1.99 is cheap for gas check out Northwest Houston on Highway 249 it's only $1.60 per gallon.
$1.55 gallon lowest regular price Oklahoma City if you're heading that way. Amarillo $1.79. Fort Worth $1.71. Got to admit your timing for this trip was right on.
Just a gas price update here in the DFW area, Texas, Gas is between 1.71 to 1.79 gallon. My brother is the oil business and he said that the oil companies are not making enough profit and will stop drilling and start laying off people till the price goes back up. I feel terrible for these oil companies not being able to make a 10 billion dollar profit per quarter, don't you. Thought about sending them a donation to help out.
that sounds a good idea but their messy, they only will burn for about an hour and where do you store the wood not to mention the fire hazard. I have seen gas fireplaces in RVs but they're not very efficient and they eat a lot of fuel.
All of ya'll must not remember OPEC nailing us back in the 70's. The speed limit was dropped to 55mph & stayed that way for years to save on gas. Believe me, it does save on gas. Drove that speed for so many years that I don't feel comfortable at any other speed. Plus, I haven't noticed people getting to thier destination any sooner unless they are on a interstate or turnpike. If you come through Oklahoma, take care, there are turnpikes (you pay) just about everywhere. Also, be careful going through the DFW area, you have NEVER seen people drive like they do. Gave me a serious laundry problem!
Hey Eric, when you make it to where you are going and you get settled in your new wheels you might want ti slide south to Florida for a week or two for some sun and warmer weather. If you make it to the Tampa, New Port Richey, spring Hill area let me know id like to meet up with ya maybe treat you and jax to dinner or something. The Hudson Fl Walmart allows boon docking. I might even be able to find you a place for a day or two with water and electric in Crews lake park but id have to check on that to see if it's available.
Eric, you'll enjoy Tennessee when you come through, lots of nice nature and most folks are pretty nice here. Of course be careful if you spend time in the bigger cities (Memphis particularly has the highest crime rate). If you're going to be here in Nashville, I highly recommend checking out downtown and Broadway, lots of really cool stuff. Also, check the Ryman theater website (where the Grand Ol Opry happens) and see if anyone or any band you like is giving a concert there when you'll be through... you won't regret it, it's the best acoustics anywhere and some of the best concerts I've ever been to were there. :oD
Got down to about 10 or 12 last night. Slept fine in pajamas over clothes, heating blanket on top of nice down blanket and 2 space heaters. However, they are calling for 0 if not into the negatives tomorrow night. with a high on Wednesday in the low teens. I am really disappointed that my trip south got nixed. Can't complain too much as I am parked at my sister's house. The only reason I am sleeping some in Minnie is my two dogs who I can't take in the house.
24 really!! it's -9 this morning in northern Il. Remember you did a video already on your exciting news, to the yuotubers that follow you it's no secret. Thanks for the video
"Bitterly Cold" LOL 24F???? We're at 4F right now! -11 on Wednesday! Oh - and your gas mileage may be a result of favorable tail winds. That part of the country - and especially just east of El Paso - have LOTS of winds going your way. Going in opposite direction, my normal 6.5 mpg dropped to 3.5.
At the start of the video, Jax looked like someone who hadn't had his morning coffee! If you're coming through Dallas, would love to meet you. I'll buy you a tank of gas, and you can park overnight in my drive, and plug in. I have 30 amp.
We over here in the uk are feeling the benefits of falling oil prices, it wasn't that long ago that we were paying £1.46p a litre for petrol/gas & now at the moment we are paying on average £1.10p a litre with prices estimated to fall below £1 a litre.
***** prescriptions are not free in the uk. Healthcare is not really free either as we pay national insurance which is quite a bit off my wages each month.
Sandy Carty sometimes people are on disability benefits so they probably won't pay a penny for prescriptions. I pay to go to dentist also pay for prescriptions. People that don't work dont pay for healthcare or prescriptions.
Eric I am about to buy either a Campervan or an RV. Hard to decide which one to choose. They both have there pros and cons. Since you have lived in both vehicles were do you weigh in at. Taking money out of the equation would you go with a Campervan (well built) or an RV? I know your on your way to pick up YOUR new RV but I need your opinion on this. Thanks buddy.
RV all the way! I've had a '58 VW Bus and a few RVs over the last 9 yrs and personally a bathroom for me is a must! No you're not stealth but I don't intend to live my life hiding all the time. There's many short Class C RVs out there to choose from or more expensive Class B's. Good Luck! You need to live in which ever makes you most comfortable. Cheers! ~M
Class C all the way for me. I like the extra room. Fuel is a bit more but a price I'm willing to pay. Good luck and do your research don't get scammed.
I'm fulltime in my 21ft Star Craft, its just 3000 pounds empty and is perfect for me as a single guy with just my dog. This trailer truly seems bigger one the inside than it looks on the outside. The main thing I like about a trailer is the ability to park it and jump into my truck and go. Also by parking the trailer somewhere you actually have a place to "go home" to. Guess it's pretty much what you're after. *Food for thought* Good luck!
Good point Hans. Everyone has different needs/wants. I have a trailer now and i will miss it when I sell to get the RV but i will keep the truck and Motorcycle.
Thanks Guys! I'm leaning towards an RV. My biggest determining factors were CamperVan - Conversion time and cost (would do it myself), Stealth, Fuel savings RV - Comfort, Minimal Upgrade (solar), High cost of Fuel, Areas to park I know down the road I would want to upgrade from a campervan so since I have the money now I'm just going to go right into an RV - Looking for a 22' - 24' that I can afford around $14,000. Wish me luck. Hopefully a few months from now I can Unplug my life and live free (A nod to you Eric).
Your new RV dispite being a bigger rig, will prolly get around the same millage due to the fact that it is obviously a fuel injected engine, or is it diesel?
im not a hater, but the ford 460 (if thats what it has is a PIG! especially with a bigger unit..no big deal though it just means less travel or settling down..I did the road thing or 5 years and it does start to be less fun and u start to miss being in one place (eg: garden etc.) eric can always park somewhere perm and get himself a little van or ? and do little or big road trips then return to his beautiful new home when he gets tired of being on the road
When you start your truck just hit the gas once and then just roll it over till it starts.... you may have a problem with your fuel line draining back just wait for the gas to get there... Hit the gas once to engage the auto choke... roll engine over and over till the gas gets there.... :)
my englisch is not good, sorry for it. but how you talking and filming is great i have a german hymer 1989 and i want the way of traveling like you ( in europ) i am 60 years old and have not the ball,s like you but it,s good greetings from holland
wow! in your video sounds like tapping (noisy)lifters then? And usually when something like starter goes "click click" its a bad solenoid or loose /corroded connection:)you need to be more mechanically inclined Eric..:) anyhow stay safe:)
I noticed u like to stop a loves or pilots, u might want sign up for their loyalty cards, I know when I used my cards at the fuel I would earn points for showers and free food, u can also earn points inside the store as well. The TAs and Petros also have loyalty cards.
The businesses get a free plug. You get to provide entertaining content. Win/Win. And it is good that you are respectful of people's privacy. I like mine, so I would be one of those that would certainly take issue, if anyone shoved a camera in my face without my permission.
Wrong, if you are an Oregon resident when you purchase it out of state you get temp tags until the Oregon registration is complete. I worked for a car dealer tax is based on where you live not where you buy it.
LOL no offense but 8,5 mpg is still pretty bad considering 55mph flat road? I know it's V8 gas engine but still. My Tahoe 300 hp got around 17 mpg. Maybe check that up. The price of gas is 1/3 of the price in Sweden however so in my point of view your ride is cheap anyway!! USA seems really nice, I will try to move there. Best of luck to your cool lifestyle.
Roll safe my bro. I think Tilly starting to have anxiety of you leaving her soon. So push her slow & easy keep the great videos coming...
Having lived in Texas for over 16 years before moving to Europe I can say you will like Texas, even for your brief stay to trade out the RV. Enjoy your stay Y'all :-)
Eric Thank you for being so up front with people about your video. Makes life so much better for everyone when we show courtesy to all.

It's so cold up north and seeing the sun is amazing.
I cannot wait to see your new RV. I'm very curious to know how you enjoy driving in a Class A vs Class C. Because I'm still debating which one to get.
That's another thing a love about my Winnebago Rialta. It's 21 feet. When i sleep in rest area, i park with car where it's much quieter.
When it gets below 25 here I run my engine chassis heater to get it warm quick and then let the other heater maintain it I am careful about Co so usually good to drive around the block on high heat to avoid carbon poisoning.
Eric,
Start watching the weather. Here in IL. we are now -0 temp. Winter Warning for 6-10
inches snow. As always Happy Trails

Dont complain Eric, were on €1.40 per LITRE! Here in Ireland! (But my Motorhome is doing 25-30mpg...) :-)

Hi Eric, Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico is worth the trip if you get close. Be safe.
doode watch your channel i like it just great and informative, not boring.thanks,,,,in england fuel is $ 7-9 dollers a gallon cheers dave peace,
I started to feel bad when Tilly wouldn't start up, but when it did I had a sigh of relief cause I know the feeling lol
Sorry you didn't get to see the Meteorite Crater and the Petrified Wood Forest when in Arizona, both of which are off the 10 I believe.
Be sure your anti freeze is up to snuff! Keeping my fingers crossed for ya to make it!
dude if you go back through N.M. you should visit some places like Soccoro, white sands, Truth or Cosnsequences, great hot springs! hit some of the real small places, great home cooked meals!
N.M has some really interesting places to check out, just have to get off the beaten path, best of travels.

Eric ever think about putting a mini fire place in the rv for heating, cooking, and electic on some models check it out.
that sounds a good idea but their messy, they only will burn for about an hour and where do you store the wood not to mention the fire hazard. I have seen gas fireplaces in RVs but they're not very efficient and they eat a lot of fuel.
I am pretty sure I know where you are going and why and that is a very good decision for many reasons as I'm sure you have researched.

Love the Breaking Bad song as you entered New Mexico. NICE!
Hope you return to southern New Mexico to see White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, etc.
Motorkote for that engine!! It will be the best thing ever for that motor!! I use it on my detriot series 6o in my big rig, it is the best!!
Eric, you'll enjoy Tennessee when you come through, lots of nice nature and most folks are pretty nice here. Hey kiddo, try adding some octane booster to your tank every couple of fills, we do that and it makes a difference in out gas mileage
Got down to about 10 or 12 last night. Slept fine in pajamas over clothes, heating blanket on top of nice down blanket and 2 space heaters. Yeah gas is way cheaper everywhere. Currently $2.06/gal at the Costco in Bellingham, WA. :)
Was that the music to Braking Bad? Lol.
New Mexico!
thanks for the info. eric about filming.
LOVE NEW MEXICO!!
24 really!! it's -9 this morning in northern Il. Remember you did a video already on your exciting news, to the yuotubers that follow you it's no secret. Thanks for the video
I bought the coolest ring at that store! Rare stone I found out later. Sunshine! I want sunshine!
Does that RV have a choke? Seemed a bit hard to start. :P
Good morning!!!!!!!
Have Wonderful day !!!!!!!!
Wish I could have kept you warm last night ;) Anyway you better replace that solenoid for its an easy job on the ford located on the firewall.
That's the best on a cold winter day
Eric must learn to spend wisely or he won't make it to the east
Keep warm...
Is the new rv usable when the pop outs are in? Extended pop outs are a dead giveaway that your inside.
At the start of the video, Jax looked like someone who hadn't had his morning coffee!
If you're coming through Dallas, would love to meet you. I'll buy you a tank of gas, and you can park overnight in my drive, and plug in. I have 30 amp.
Like the video Eric don't worry about the trolls they have no life and are obviously jealous of your life, keep on truck'in or in your case RV'n. ;)

Dan A Really? My 30 year old English uncle pays nothing and he has diabetes.
Sandy Carty sometimes people are on disability benefits so they probably won't pay a penny for prescriptions. I pay to go to dentist also pay for prescriptions. People that don't work dont pay for healthcare or prescriptions.
***** not sure which I would prefer really.
Eric you engine make some noise, inspect your RV motor belts.
Next time passing thru New Mexico go check out Roswell's UFO museum, Carlsbad Caverns (awesome), and the very remote and ancient Choco Canyon ruins.
My biggest determining factors were
CamperVan - Conversion time and cost (would do it myself), Stealth, Fuel savings
RV - Comfort, Minimal Upgrade (solar), High cost of Fuel, Areas to park
I know down the road I would want to upgrade from a campervan so since I have the money now I'm just going to go right into an RV - Looking for a 22' - 24' that I can afford around $14,000. Wish me luck. Hopefully a few months from now I can Unplug my life and live free (A nod to you Eric).
You should stop in Sante Fe or Taos. Love those places.
Your new RV dispite being a bigger rig, will prolly get around the same millage due to the fact that it is obviously a fuel injected engine, or is it diesel?
im not a hater, but the ford 460 (if thats what it has is a PIG! especially with a bigger unit..no big deal though it just means less travel or settling down..I did the road thing or 5 years and it does start to be less fun and u start to miss being in one place (eg: garden etc.)
eric can always park somewhere perm and get himself a little van or ? and do little or big road trips then return to his beautiful new home when he gets tired of being on the road
Smooth startup
When you start your truck just hit the gas once and then just roll it over till it starts.... you may have a problem with your fuel line draining back just wait for the gas to get there... Hit the gas once to engage the auto choke... roll engine over and over till the gas gets there.... :)
"Awesome Sauce" - LMFAO 😜
TEXAS Never ending state,it goes on and on and on......
-20 F in Minnesota with - 50 F wind chills
I have $1.69 where I live in Indiana. It is amazing how fast the gas prices dropped.
Trying to start that old girl I can hear she is not happy. Getting that newer one is going to be a godsend.
It was -35 here last night. You will live!
I'm surprised you don't let your engine warm up before driving.

i built an enclosed trailer into a camper/motorcyle hauler , i will be going on the road soon for the first time and im 70 yrs old .
wow! in your video sounds like tapping (noisy)lifters then? And usually when something like starter goes "click click" its a bad solenoid or loose /corroded connection:)you need to be more mechanically inclined Eric..:) anyhow stay safe:)
I noticed u like to stop a loves or pilots, u might want sign up for their loyalty cards, I know when I used my cards at the fuel I would earn points for showers and free food, u can also earn points inside the store as well. The TAs and Petros also have loyalty cards.
your moving fast. If you get in trouble(mechanical) I can steer you to some people. I grew up in TX. I know people all over.
2:04 - That would have been great to get a lady friend to do a voice over after the GPS lady: "... or... you can just stay here for 4 hours." :)
from Santa fe, now ive in oklahoma! come visit!! very nice people!!!
The businesses get a free plug. You get to provide entertaining content. Win/Win.
And it is good that you are respectful of people's privacy. I like mine, so I would be one of those that would certainly take issue, if anyone shoved a camera in my face without my permission.
Looks like Jax was a cool cat last night. Had an unhappy look.
You should make yourself an Oregon resident before buying your new RV, 0% sales tax!
Wrong, if you are an Oregon resident when you purchase it out of state you get temp tags until the Oregon registration is complete. I worked for a car dealer tax is based on where you live not where you buy it.
Nice breaking bad music gettring into new mexico haha
New Mexico! Was raised there. Go check out White Sands National Monument if you have the time and you're in the area!
Hahahahaha.... Yea, I've never heard that joke.... (not)
Polititians say that history tells us the great drop in gas is usually a sign that a war may break out soon.
The Breaking Bad intro into NM was a hoot! Just left Phoenix about the time you were there - now back in Frigid, OH. :-(
Jim@MidOhio
your logging your gas millage on my B-day...lolol!!
I'd swear that gift shop was used for Zombieland
LOL no offense but 8,5 mpg is still pretty bad considering 55mph flat road? I know it's V8 gas engine but still. My Tahoe 300 hp got around 17 mpg. Maybe check that up. The price of gas is 1/3 of the price in Sweden however so in my point of view your ride is cheap anyway!! USA seems really nice, I will try to move there. Best of luck to your cool lifestyle.
