Beautifull conclusion “the alkymist of painting” - in a way I think that all art nomatter what style, technique or subject can transform experience and significance in very many different ways - totally dependent on “felt sense” ( in Danish “ betydningssansning” ... it has to do with the mystery of deep experience , relational and existential meaning, values, worldview and perspectives that can move and be moved ... art in all forms can and do change lives .... but not always 🙃🎶🎵

Dear Lis Engel, first and foremost thank you for tuning in and for taking the time to write this down. What a wonderful word "betydningssansning", sounds like a poem already. And I agree, there is such value, profoundness, or what German philosophers would call 'The Truth' to be found in art. It nourishes our soul. :-) My best wishes from Belgium

    wizardery.. at it's best!! ~ 🖼.
so, is "this" a form of mixed media..?
cause: i've produced painting(s) with transparent "overhead" projector sheets; that had imagery printed on them.. & added them [over] the paintings. 🤔~??
i called mine.. mixed media. idk.. .?.
    **anyhow.. wicked piece! ~

This specific painting is not a mixed media painting as he only used oil on canvas. The fabric sheet is painted, but he really creates a collage-like/mixed-media feeling. Wizardry at its best for sure!

See SJ's comment below. I.agree, although your videos have never been BS. Additionally, thank you for expanding my knowledge of an artist that I was only vaguely aware of.

Hi Georges, how are you? Happy to hear the video was very informative and the explanation was clear. According to my humble opinion, Sigmar Polke is as - or maybe even more - important as Gerhard Richter. However, the latter seems to be the more popular painter of the two. I find great depth and ingenuity in his works, which keeps me going back to him. If you have the chance to see some of his works in person, I highly recommend to go for it. An artist worth discovering extensively. My very best wishes

@@contemporaryartissue I agree. I will have to look and see where he has work here in NYC. I'm guessing MOMA or the Whitney. Also, try to find out if he has gallery representative here. You never know too far in advance when a gallery is going to put an artist's work up. I think he has a better developed concept of his work than what I have seen or heard about Richter expressing. That may be because I have not put in the work to find the information. There's always something to look for in the art world.

@@georgemohr7532 There sure is! MoMA has lots of works by him, but I don't believe many of them are on display, if any. I believe his works are much more versatile in comparison to Richter, with a greater radius of action due to his fluid transition from one medium to another, all on a two-dimensional surface.

Thanks for the explanation. I thought this video was going to be BS but it was very informative, explained things very clearly, and reminded me the importance of art can only be grasped within the context of time and culture.

I am afraid not, nor am I familiar with Mercbenzking. Maybe we have a similar (Flemish/Dutch) accent? Thank you for tuning in!
