+tsogtgerel tsogtoo Wait, are you this Tsogtgerel, who recorded an album with Tserendavaa, called "Chants diphoniques de l'Altai Mongol"? I'm listening to this in my car.
I learned to throat sing in my free time. NOBODY APPRECIATES IT. My life is filled with people who are different than me, and yet, they're all the same general personalities.
I am sincerely searching to learn these vocal technical so much, but it is so hard to meet people who knows how to experiment it. I am keeping on searching because I really admire these technical. And this men do such an amazing work, it is really impressive.
Simply amazing I am from Ukraine my self but my heart feels closer to mogolia every time I hear that throat sound makes me feel closer to nature and been thankful to feel alive
this man is amazing, he is a walking instrument, what beauty, i also like the sax player. very nice. but the throat singing blows me right away. he also has the most kind gentle face i have ever seen, and speaks so gentle.
D. Tserendavaa was born in 1954 in Chandman Sum, Khovd Province, Mongolia, and still lives there. A cattleman, a professional harmonica player and a singer. He started learning the harmonica at the age of six and became a professional harmonica player at the age of 24. Since the 1980s, he has performed in many countries, including France, Great Britain, Germany, Portugal, the United States, Japan, Russia, and China.
congratulations on discovering throat singing :) im a throat singer as well and I know how exciting it is to learn khoomei of the nose and all the many styles of throat singing, yes I throat sing in the car a lot too I know what you mean :) om mani padme hum, the jewel in the heart of the lotus ;)
Son voces maravillosas las que se producen en el canto diafónico de la Sierra de Altai. Perecen venir de la profundidad del cielo. Son extraordinarios.
yes I have heard Rami Shaafi before :) I have watched his throat singing videos before and our styles are similar :) Yes I saw your video too and it's good, I really like the native flute, I play native indian flute myself, the didgeradoo, guitar, and Buffalo Drum so I can appreciate it, it sure looks like a lot of fun to me as I play music all the time but I don't have anyone else that plays with me, so I play alone but I go from instrument to instrument and it sounds great, namaste my friend:)
SUPERB !! Thankyou for posting this, I've just learnt how to overtone and I wasn't aware of all the different ways. I've been doing the sing, lip & upper jaw and didn't know about the nose. To my delight, I just tried the nose and I can do it :0) still need lots of practice, which I've discovered is best to do in the car, the acoustics are just great for it !
@HinnStormur I definitely would not say they are Huns alone, but would certainly be possible they were joined with other nomadic tribes who had settled there during one period or another. There are even a few dozen words of Tungusic origin (related to Manchu) in Hungarian that cannot be found in Turkic or Mongolic languages, even those of which are normally explained as "loan words" from Turkish
also a track called "collaboration airwaves" which I did with my best friend Neil via the internet. He created the backing track on his mobile phone and sent it to me to add guitar to. Our version of the Doctor Who theme.
wow a lot of random comments that do not pertain to the glorious technique and culture of a people that are displayed here. When trying to appreciate others remember not to be ethnocentric and just enjoy them as fellow humans that deserve to be respected.
the part at about 1 min sounds like a like a voice going thru a phaser, something people over hear do with either audio software or a guitar distortion pedal. You should see Herzog's movie on Faith in Russia
I forgot about or didn't see your post, I'll PM you some of the words perhaps later tonight, and some outside study that has been done on the topic as well. Off the top my head from a Swadeish list I can just think of 'kereg' and 'kere' for tree bark, but there were a few others. Also, from one study I remember also there were "beteg" "kanal" "hamar" "oldal" derived from Tungusic
Oh !... This is a beautiful Video.. I love the sparce scenery, The disgruntled Camel The Children arwe like little dolls.. but the Music,,, Now that was a surprise,, Amazing.. Great ,
@12martijn1211 no its not. there are many kinds and if you listen closely he is singing multiple notes at a time, one high whistling and one lower in the throat.
those throat singers would generate two times wave sound or three times wave sound by his whatever body cavity. i really want to know how they sing inside a cave where the bats are flying. and what will happen if they amplify their singing voices in the sea where the dolphins are swimming by using an audio frequency range amplifier?
Throat singing...through every hole in the non private parts of the body...in the snow...accompanied by a saxophone...This has really altered my standard of what can be called AWESOME on earth
Hi again Jim, Rami lives in Slovakia and comes back to the uk twice a year. When he returns again in April we're planning to play a gig together which I'm really looking forward to. Where are you based? If you're in the uk and not too far from me, you'd be welcome to come round and make music :0)
@h310 Many people claims that mongolians and indians are descendants of the very same people. Maybe they just inherited the song from their common ancestors?
However a few historical records like the Chronicon Pictum date the conquest during the 6th/7th centuries. The date 890 was an arbitrarily chosen date later on just like Xmas for the birth of Jesus. Also, archaeological findings show that earlier graves and settlements had far more people than the next wave of nomads to settle, showing they were too few to make an impact linguistically, culturally, genetically, or otherwise. This is according to Gyula Laszlo (dual conquest theory)
@valakey Ok, brothers, but not the same :-) I was speaking about Huns and Hungarians, not Avars.I know that Hungarian tribes (the seven arrows, right?)came together with three turkic tribes in the famous 896, according to some, isn't it?However, about learning History, you are right. There is much to learn. Maybe I have expressed myself too selfconfidently. My main point was to warn against the easiest assumptions in historic ambit: "They looked similar so they were the same", and so on
@NemSoha Among what you say, the thing about Tungusic words is extremely interesting. Do you have some references? Thank you! I fear that about these topics, due to the amount of uncertainty, very much and the contrary of it can be said. I just hope that objectivity stays at the basis of research, that's the main reason I posted my previous comment. I didn't want to appear as an "expert".
That lama was like "daaaaaayyyuuuuummmm sweeeet tunes playa". lol this is really impressive. of nose i would figure to be very difficult being that you would not be able to use your mouth for resonation. makes me want to travel.
@NemSoha Yes, and I would also like to remember that Huns were not Hungarians, no more than Mongols are Turks, just to say one. Huns came to Europe during the IV - V century, Hungarians in 890, more or less. I know Attila is a very common name in Hungary and that Hungarians as a population could have mixed themselves with Huns and Avars who lived there before them, but this identification is just a folktale. Just to be sure, I know that many make confusion! :-)
we could have a go at making a youtube video online if you're up for that? I did one via the cigar box nation website with a fella called bug. It's on here. It's our own version of the doors "Light My fire". Have a looksy and see what you think?

@valakey PS: Folktale was the wrong term. I wanted to say "popular belief". Which, I admit, could or could not be confirmed.

What I expressed happens to be the Truth. What you expressed was an insult. There is a monumental difference between the two.

Genius beauty.
