Hi guys! In this video I do a comparison between an Amazon haircutting scissors pack that cost me $10 US and my professional Japanese Kasho Shears that cost $350 US.
I wish I had a more entertaining and in-depth video for you, but I'm so used to using my professional haircutting shears that it's pretty much impossible to go lower in quality and not notice a massive difference.
I hope you find this video educational and helpful if you are a hair student, hair enthusiast or you cut your hair at home!
Let me know if you've bought haircutting shears off Amazon and what did you think!

I am a frugal person as is my husband, but I would definitely not let him use those on my hair. He bought a good pair of lefty Japanese steel hair shears, that he actually keeps sharp himself on a flat hone. He does my hair, my mom’s and my best friend’s haircuts with them. He keeps them in the leather case they came with and he will not let anyone else touch them. They weren’t cheap, but they have paid for themselves many times over.

They are Hasami hair shears. He bought them about 20 years ago and got them half price, $90 at a cutlery store as the owner had them in stock for a couple years and they weren’t selling as they were lefty shears.
You bought the cheapie on Amazon, but at least you are only out $10.

Please do not put any background music however soft in any DIY demo, review, tour, or behind a human voice. My brain cannot work in stereo. I cannot process information this way. It is hugely irritating to the ears, and disrupts my concentration. You don't need a filler. Your voice is lovely, you are lovely, the review is excellent.
I want to focus on that and the buzz in the background is disruptive.
Thanks for a great review! Excellent points. The only thing I would add is that in a very short time, the cheap scissors will need sharpening and the Kashos will not. Sharpening will cost more than the scissors, so they are throwaways. Every time you cut it is inaccurate, hurts wrist, cuts poorly, bad experience and you need to keep buying new ones. Every time you cut with the Kasho pair, buttery smooth, clean cut, great feeling, and sharpen once every 1-2 yrs. Big difference overall.

Thank you for your thoughtful message. Noted, I will be mindful of using music in the background. You're absolutely right about the scissors, they are definitely throaways.

Honestly I'd prefer an alternative material to leather (or shall I call it skin) in general, I mean do we really have to involve animal body parts even when we get a haircut? ^^' We can at least leave them alone for that right? Poor them.

    • @kangaroonick57
      @kangaroonick57 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

so true. enough is enough. its 2022... there is no excuse to keep using leather in this day and age

    • @jerbear7952

Some of us feel differently so sometimes that option is presented. You are a very small minority. I am glad there are more options available for you folks and I respect your decision but many of use prefer the longevity of leather which is a byproduct of the beef industry and beef isn't going anywhere any time soon. Your best bet is to lead by example

Having a stylist destroy your hair because they don't know the difference between shears and scissors iis not good!
The stuff you got from Amazon are scissors. Your Kashos are shears.
    Specifically designed to cut hair.
Look at the ends of the hair you cut with the Amazon scissors.
Would you like someone to do that to your hair?
Why not just use a Bic lighter?
Stylist have no idea how many products (INCLUDING SOME SHEARS) are stamped with the words Japanese steel. That's the buzz word for high quality.
    They should be stamped
    "Chinese steal"

      Umm wrong!!
Scissors are a for general purpose use ie coupons wrapping paper...
Shears are engineered for specific use.
Metal shears, sheep shears dress making shears Hair cutting shears. Blending, texturing shears.
So is this like "plucking a chicken" or "washing hair""???
Imagine being in surgery and having the surgeon say "knife"
