    When i got to this door, the entire time i kept thinking: "noo... they wouldn't...no...." trying to interpret her words in every other possible way...
    Plus if you listen to the voice acting, Renne has always refered to herself in the 3rd person...
    Truly a fitting story to be at the bottom of gehenna...

      As far as I understand, that's a common thing in small children in Japan, so it can be either way

      A traumatic door and experience indeed.

    yeah this is both probably the best part of the entire sky arc writing wise but also without a doubt the most harrowing. very few things i experience give me physical reactions but by the end of this star door i felt genuinely nauseous. probably still the singular darkest part of the entire series, which is crazy considering hamel and kevin's backstory exists
    it's always stuck with me that you find this star door at the absolute lowest pit of gehenna, and that your "reward" for finishing it is the 'nothingness' quartz

    This door keeps hitting hard no matter how many times I've seen it, Renne really deserves all the love and happiness in the world, well done making the connection between Elmer and this "Paradise" place, as not so many people do that, so quickly, at least until after playing later games of the series

    I didn´t have the voice patch,didn´t know it existed. After watching this door I saved and turned of my PC for the day. Then I sat for 15 min on my bed trying to cope what I watched.
    I have seen this scene now a dozend times, mostly in other peoples playthrough. Till today have I neither seen someone not having a breakdown while watching, nor did I not cry while watching it...

    I had to stop playing after this door and just sat there for awhile not being able to really do anything else but think about this door, I was completely drained.
    This affected me more than any other scene in a game. I played it with voices.
    Renne deserves all the happiness in the world, luckily you'll get alot more with her, and most of the other cast from Sky trilogy, Trails games are really good at having characters reappear in future games.

    I also played this with the voice pack. After I saw this door, I was emotionally distraught and ruined. It cemented Renne as a PERMANENT favorite character of mine. Everything she did in the first two games were immediately forgiven. She did nothing wrong in my eyes anymore. She was saved by the Society and her safety in them was valid.
    I needed more Renne content. I needed Renne to be HAPPY. I needed her story to continue with the Bright family. I couldn't put the game down after I had my isolated cry session. I needed to keep playing. I needed to know what happens with her. I needed her to feel loved.

    Star Door 15 (Paradise, which it is anything but), aptly located in the pits of gahenna (Hell).
    I've only played the base game. The voice mods really bring it to life and make it more difficult to watch.
    Seriously if you need to take a break, then do so.
    But know this, Renne's story doesn't end here and the only way is up.

    I played from Kevin's backstory in the Aster House to this door in one session, unfortunately without the voices (but watched with them after), and it was extremely intense. It's still intense in different ways whenever I watch it again. The writing and acting are just perfect to me
    I get so emotionally drained every time, but that comes with all sorts of good feelings because of how the door ends and all that comes after... I love this series

    I played the whole Sky Arc without voice acting so it´s actually my first time hearing this scene voiced!
    Even without voices the scene hit pretty hard and showed what a painful backstory Renne has. But the voices make it prob even more impactful.
    While the things that happen to her are obviously horrible it makes you appreciate Renne as a character even more. It also explains how she became so compatible with Patter-Matter.
    It´s always a good idea to take a small break after such a story so take your time.

    I didn't originally see this with the voiceovers; from a purely analytical perspective, I think the voiceovers make it harder for the viewer to skip over the parts where she tells herself stuff as a coping mechanism, which makes it more impactful, because without the sound you just want to move on as quickly as possible. As you said, the scene turns the stomach inside out.
    I can't help but debate in my mind whether this scene is even necessary; I remember reading a chapter in Peter Cave's book "Philosophy" called (I think) "Art: What is the point?" and I remember a discussion that he starts with a discussion John Adams Opera The Death of Klinghoffer which many people found offensive because of the material that it referenced; and I come back to that with respect to this. I can't say that this scene gave me enjoyment but I think people who continued to play the series often say that this scene gives "depth and reference point" to the scale of some of the material covered later, it gives depth to Renne's character - could that depth be given any other way? Bearing in mind that most people come out of this scene as well going "Okay - so Ouroboros aren't necessarily as bad as I thought they were" but then you remember that some of them have done some awful things as well....

    Whenever you get to Kuro no Kiseki 2, you'll find the true meaning of this door. It's even worse than you can imagine.

    Slight correction on description, it is a star door, not moon. But I know that's not the concern rn...

    Not sure if it's accurate interpretation but it's my understanding these are all her... all her split personalities used to deal with the torment. Their were other kids around her, but I imagine she blacked it all out... yeah.. their really aren't words. It has been confirmed later their WERE other kids there, unfortunately. She likely was in such hell she didn't even take note and instead placed their personalities as her own splits..

    • @Trails3rdFanboy
      @Trails3rdFanboy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I kinda prefer the interpretation that it's ambiguous rather than there were actually kids there. Makes for a more compelling story imo.

      it does, but it doesn't make any sense for her to be the only one from the bad guys pov@@Trails3rdFanboy

    • @Trails3rdFanboy
      @Trails3rdFanboy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Easelgames I'm not sure what you mean by that? The ambiguity of her personalities being real or not real doesn't have any impact on other people's perspective of her in terms of the narrative structure.

    • @Easelgames
      @Easelgames 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      not here no, but spoiler relations based on "similar locations" (in heavy quotes bc I'm not being accurate on purpose) tend to favor that not being true. Also I don't think it's actually very ambiguous here considering the statements with the "kids" quotes being signed by Renne at the end. I thought it was more interpretive till I noticed that this time.@@Trails3rdFanboy

    • @Trails3rdFanboy
      @Trails3rdFanboy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Easelgames I think you're taking the interpretation of her personalities being actual people in the context of the story in other games as being too literal. Ambiguity in a narrative is more so used to add more depth to elements of the story, not more so for actually being contested with evidence/logic from subsequent games. I mean you could look at it from that POV, but at that point it kinda borders on pedantry rather than enjoying a video game story that seeks to spur some sense of fulfilment/sadness.

    Only ever played with the voices, and my Japanese is barely good enough that I can follow them.
    I don't know how the actors coped with giving those performances. I'd have needed a cold shower afterwards, and A LOT of alcohol.
