I love this! God doesn't make junk, we all have limitations. It is so refreshing to see these people in jobs that they love and the pride that they feel! 😇💜

That's great that the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was signed
and enforced. Unfortunately, the blind and visually impaired
communities across the United States still faces the highest rates of
unemployment, poverty and homelessness. About 70% to 83% of blind and
visually impaired people are currently unemployed. Around 1 in 4 of
these individuals are homeless. The ADA law has made significant
impacts on certain groups but not others. Regardless of education level
and job skill level, we blind and visually impaired folks still face
huge negative prejudices and stereotypes from employers when it comes to
    employment.

Wow, that is very very sad. To think a blind person is out on the street homeless is heart breaking. ;-(

I have disabilities myself. I have worked all my life since high school and I have a Bachelor's Degree with additional education. I hope to finish my Master's Degree someday. I refused to work in one of these sheltered workshops or slave shops for sub minimum wage / slave wages. There are a lot of qualified people with disabilities who have college degrees and possess a lot of valuable skills and they constantly face deep-rooted employment discrimination. I'm not an X-felon or a criminal who can't pass the criminal background check. People with disabilities should not have to be on food stamps or public assistance or have to live in the ghetto because of prejudice employers. Section 14C of the Fair Labor Standards Act needs to be abolished because it's act of slavery and oppression. This give employers legal permission to pay people with disabilities slave wages or sub minimum wages. You can't live on sub minimum wages, when cost of living keeps going up. I have a huge problem with society when they make oppressive laws to drive certain groups into extreme poverty and homelessness. Society made these oppressive laws toward African Americans, Native Americans and they're doing this toward us disabled folks.

So act of slavery & oppression made for ppl with LD, oppressive laws for black Americans, like African, Haitian immigrants to work as a slave for minimum wages specially if they can't earn a degree here.

You better go off girl. It needs to be said. I think it's wonderful that they have an opportunity to work but you know like I know us disabled people can do more, can do ANYTHING, and certainly can shoot for higher than minimum wage. It's wonderful that this place is making the first steps though so I still appreciate their efforts.

We defeat ourselves by wondering if we can get things done. Being positive is better for focus.

So, if you are a business owner, how do you make your business thrive if over half of your employees are intellectually disabled.

    • @jasminflower3814
      @jasminflower3814 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

They are doing the tasks well. The owner makes it thrive because he has the business brains to make it work. The intellectually disabled people do the labour for him.
      Win win all around.
