  • On May 25, the first vehicle was delivered from the Eglinton Crosstown Maintenance and Storage Facility to the eastern surface portion of the new transit line. Watch for vehicles as testing will be taking place over the summer along the surface.
While these are exciting times, we remind all pedestrians, motorists and cyclists that these are still active construction sites and to continue to exercise caution around these areas.

Loose nails, damaged steel, the weight of trains vs. the road, bad installations, and signage + visual issues between cars and pedestrians need to be tested. Look at how small they are. Guys, am I wrong or are these the a little too similar to the current rammed-to-capacity streetcars in the city. I know that have a some increased capacity, but is this really the vehicle that is going to provide the service needs this city needs in the future?
As someone that crams themselves on the to St Clair streetcar daily, I'm concerned that the more densely populated Eglinton line will overwhelm these LRT's in its first year, nevermind decades into the future.

@@nanaokyere7141 Yes, and unless I've also overlooked something that means there will be a capacity of less than 500 people per vehicle. Not gonna lie but that seems very, very low to me.
I think also there is the comfort level that's being lost here. Obviously I haven't been on these new vehicles, but the current streetcar vehicles are the least comfortable vehicles in the TTC fleet, somehow taking a step backwards from the older fleet they replaced.
Again, I'm hopeful they these LRT's don't follow that trend, but from the few interior shots I've seen it doesn't look promising.

which LRT in Germany do you think of?
And actually it looks like the track is seperated from the road and not actually sharing the path

@@hippocreation well that one isn't concicered as light rail but as suspension railway. While there's quite a smooth smooth transition between trams and light rail in some areas, some are indeed concidered as light rail, like the one in Stuttgart, Hannover, Essen, Frankfurt am Main, Karlsruhe, Thuringian Forest Rail ... some of these are connected to tram networks, some are in place instead of tram networks, some of them exist parallel to tram networks ... however these aren't concidered as trams although they are on the same level like road traffic.

Not necessarily, in San Franscio, they made streetcars a necessity to mass transit

uhm not really, why should they? Cheaper than a subway, bure higher capacity than a bus. The shortest types of articulated trams are approx as long as the longest of buses
