All four guitarist are really good in their own way. Guthrie is in a class of his own. This is a wonderful cover of the Hendrix classic. Thanks for posting
This is the reason why I love Guthrie Trapp's playing so much, and his personality. He's not throwing a ton of guitar effects, he's just playing from years of experience, skill and heart, with a clean sound where you really hear the sound of the Tele. I am not taking thing away from the accomplished players on stage here. They're all great players!! But Guthrie shows the audience the POWER of clean! It can be done, you just have to be really really good.
Guthrie’s solo is the apex of guitar solo on this song. It can’t get any better than this. This is the absolute peak. The height of a guitar solo on little wing
My 69 year old jaw dropped on Guthrie's solo....I know he's great, but that solo was unworldly...not that the other players aren't pretty damn good in their own right...but Guthrie...Holy Shit!
@@SteveSterlacci This is a top notch superior band but Trapp is one of the greatest players ever and the way he supercharges the emotion of this song is eagerly recognised by the musicians in shot during his solo. 2 cents.
"nailed it"...nice video. I was at NAMM and witnessed that live and I had the exact same reaction while watching this clip...definitely a special moment. Here's to more great music in 2021.
God .. that Guthrie Trapp left everyone on the floor ... that's total guitar mastery, perfect phrasing, perfect dynamics, perfect chord changes mastery, perfect feel, pocket ... man, that was insane.
Gah LEE Guthrie, dude I hope you have this song on the Advanced Course for ArtistWorks. You tore this baby every which way but loose. Positive Jimi would give you a standing ovation. Congratulations and thanks for the spiritual connection, absolutely uplifting. Thank you and thanks to the band for a great job everyone. 👏👏👏👍🙏🙏🙏🎸✌️🇺🇸😎
The three guitarists that accompanied Guthrie were exceptional. They had the phrasing to write some great sentences and a few paragraphs. Guthrie came out and wrote a whole damn book! I just discovered Guthrie’s channel a few months ago and he has been a huge inspiration. I dare say his phrasing is up there with David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler.
Baddasses. Dam brothers and sister that was the best of the best i have heard from anyone!!!!!!!! Great that the musicianship with you all can soar and share the whole song together. Again brothers and sister fabulous just fabulous amazing and hell i dont even know what to say now except thanks for the ride.
Excuse me while I pick my jaw off the floor. Guthrie doesn’t even switch to his bridge pickup. Just pure finger and phrase plus talent and years of hard work of course. Kudos to the rest of the gang too. Nashville cats.
@@CollieDog70 have not found my jaw yet. Please let me know if you find it. I usually do not go for the every note flurry kind of solos but from Guthrie I do.
WTF? Why are you addressing someone who had nothing to do with recording and posting this pirate video? Do you sincerely believe Mr. Trapp is going to read your fanboy gushing?
Guthrie is absolutely vicious on that damn guitar! Hoping he will be playing Monday on Labor Day where he usually plays, AKA, "The Work SHOP". Guthrie, If you see this let me know if you will be there then. We plan to visit there if so.
I saw Guthrie Trapp in a bar in Nashville during NAMM show 2010 and was dumbfounded. I've been looking for a video I can point my friends to so they can understand his brilliance. This video is close.
Dang, Guthrie! I guess he's just cool like that. Also that other lead with wah pedal, did it seem to wash out? I remember seeing some wah pedals with a way to set a small boost. Maybe that's what would keep it from getting lost in the mix?
When Guthrie got on the 🎤 at the end,..He sounded exactly like Jeff Foxworthy talking. Guthrie is one of the absolute greatest guitar players. He is also a very good soul.
That guy with the hat on, Definitely needs to get his own youtube channel...or something ( hehe ). Not only Guthrie, but all guitarists, including the girl, did a great job on their solo parts for sure.
Donato has an "alternating dbl stop" tech/lick... thing that I've heard him work I to a ton of his cluck plucking that has convinced me he is not from this planet. Looks effortless when he does it. I actually even saw another guitarist on YT talking about it and trying to "teach" it. He wasn't getting just right either. I'm convinced two 10 finger robots couldn't get it right in a tandem effort on the same guitar at the same time. Guthrie, always on point, 2miles ahead of us all, with possibly, imp, the very best ad lib/improve note selection of any guitarist on the scene today. I love Lindsay's slide playing. I would have preferred less wah, more "give em Ell" but she was feeling it. Id be paralyzed trying to play in the middle of this collective maestros.
@@SteveSterlacci He lacks the flash and dash of a lot of guys but once you dig in, you realize there’s so much more there. Anyone who’s got me running my diminished scales across the fretboard for 30 min a day is a true inspiration, man 😂
Nobody said anything but the Guthrie. Just notes out lining the chords. Where are you going to go on your build if your starting above the 12th fret. That was a map of the perfect solo... Awesome guthrie.
Jimi Started his solo on the 12th. He just didn't play through the song structure endlessly like the covers that would be following til the end of time.

All the solos rushing, nervous, confusing ... and then came Guthrie, and brought calm and heart felt phrasing.
Hes for sure on another level

@@SteveSterlacci can only imagine. I love his channel and he seems like a great guy.
I love how Guthrie goes off. But keeps elements of the hendrix version throughout. Like it’s peppered in there.
Guthrie politely lets everyone have their soapbox moment, and then at 8:07 says, "Hold my beer."
Absolutely ! Mops the floor 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
