Stolen almost every lick in this video. A simple I-V7 in the key of G is the best practice groove/loop there is. You aren’t trying to think too much about what chord is coming, and that frees you up to think melody, superimposition, etc.
I saw Mr Trapps teaching videos searching TH-cam endlessly and I think I may concentrate on his channel. He is a great player and he is a great teacher .
He is my favorite online teacher. He is perfect for where I am at progressing on the instrument. As he says there are no quick shortcuts but he is straightforward as far as what fundamentals you need to get where you want to be. Every video of his I watch gives me hours of new stuff to have fun with. He’s a down to earth guy.
I feel like I just watched an Elvis movie, a stand up comedy duo, and a couple of time travelers demoing Telecasters in 1962. The audience and I are impressed.
Guthrie is just one of dozens of incredible guitar players we've discovered only because they were lucky enough to be in a video with Tommy Emmanuel...and we trust that anybody we see in a video with Tommy will be gifted. Never been disappointed. They're really good together. See how this works? We just discovered Luke McQueary because he was in a video with Guthrie. TH-cam is great. Gotta add this to our "Guitars Trading Licks" playlist.
I can see your train of thought, but it’s definitely not hard and fast truth. I saw g trapp way outside of the T emanual ring. This dude was touring as a kid and is close friends with people like billy gibbons and me oats. Saying that g trapp only lives in Emanuel’s shadow is kind backhanded
@@rwhite2366 That wasn't the point at all. The point was we might not have discovered Guthrie if not for a video we watched because we love Tommy. Now we love Guthrie too. Nothing backhanded and we're sorry you took it that way. MOE
@@milesofentertainmentI've never even seen them in a video together. I think I first saw Trapp in a Don Kelley video or something else Nashville related.
As the mighty Greg Koch AKA The Gristle use to say, in case of a nuclear disaster, there will be only cockroaches and Telecasters, and hell, we are lucky for that !
Guthrie's playing is so musical and inventive the whole time. It is and has neber been just that Nashville lightning fast tele shooting. And the tone is just pure gold. Amazing player
There's an amazing interview with Luke on TrueTone Lounge (Zac Childs) where he recounts how he landed in Don Kelley's band in Nashville. He earned his place!
Just got my daily dose of Mambo Cheeks. What a band, inspiring, groovy, discovered them only recently. Guthrie is one of the most inspiring musicians nowadays.
You've gotta love GT tuning up at 4:00 to get ready to play, which he does with his usual incredible chops. And Luke McCreary is awesome. I'm very fortunate to have seen them both playing with Don Kelley at Robert's Western World on lower Broadway. Man, I love some great talented guitar players. Hello to Don Kelley!!
Wow dude you are soo freaking awesome!! Man you give me something I can't explain when I listen to you! I dumped playing heavy metal because of the wide taste of music I realized I have!! Anybody that comes and sees you live I'm sure it's one hell of a Trapp for a great time!! Thanks my friend!!
This is one of my favorite Guthrie! I come back to this video when i wanna see some great call and answer playing. Props to Luke for channeling his own amazing licks. Guthrie going of the scale! Past the scale needs more frets and strings. There isn' t enough notes. Just seeing these guys feed off of each other and urge each other to push the limits is mad respect.
Absolutely delicious, Guthrie, oh boy, Luke,BANG, the band, so tight it' superb. playing this kind of music so well it's enormously difficult and these guys just do it with such taste and panache that is really a joy to watch and listen. This video is pure gold and with every bar brigs tears of happiness to my eyes. Whoever responsible, thank you thank you thank you. You really made my day. a lot of love from your buddy from West Spain 🙂
Guthrie's playing is just amazingly fresh. He's taken pages out of the country, blues and jazz books and has come up with his own original thing. Technically he is such a clean and gifted player but his pocket and feel are not to be overlooked. His sense of rhythm and how he plays deep into the center of the groove makes everything else he does stand out. His foundation is just so solid...that's one of my big takeaways from how he approaches the guitar. Having said all of that.....does anyone have any info on the guitar he is playing here? Maker, pickups, etc.? I know his tone comes from his hands but the guitar has such clarity. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The dedication to the history of Nashville and the surrounding area states from this channel I do admire. Listen AU I know there isn't too much money in this, I'm sure this all costs you more in a financial way than people would realise. You're doing a great service here Son I mean that. All these memories captured on film are priceless ...G...
Anyone who doesn’t think that we’re in a golden age of guitar players just hasn’t been listening!
One of the greatest guitar videos on the internet. Incredible
Wow. Just wow!
And best watched at half speed!
Hard to argue on that !

@@Tier_1_Golf_Academythat’s a lot of licks haha. I’m starting to learn a few, this video is great practice since Guthries fretboard is nice and clear
Guthrie never runs out of ammo. 500 times around and still bringing fresh ideas. So entertaining to listen to.
It's quite astounding really. It just seems to flow out of him and everything he plays connects beautifully.
Some of the tastiest 13 minutes of guitar playing I've ever heard.
Oh my god, starting at 11:25 when he gets down and DETUNES to DROP D in the middle of a solo.....holy cow
Ok. There's so much great playing here. But that drop d move but GT around 11:20 was lights out. Oh. And Luke's face at 7:38

Guthrie’s a straight up cold blooded killer. Such beautiful playing.
I have to tell you all, EVERY time I pick up my Squire 50s Vibe Tele, I sound EXACTLY like this, some nights even better!........then I wake up :-(
😅 love it
I’ve watch this video 50 times, and see something new every time
Guthrie Trapp.
Never heard of this guy. Now I will search for more of his videos.
Incredible taste and elegancy in playing.
There's none better.
A master if there ever was one
Dudes insanely good
Luke is insanely good. Do yourself a favor, go to Nashville, go to Robert's, watch him and Kelly's Heroes. Holy schnikies.
He is also very generous with his TH-cam lessons. (If you play)
Guthrie and Luke are both incredible guitar players!
I mean wtf! These guys are just at the top of their game.
Trapp is so well versed on the guitar neck it's frightening.

Apples and kangaroos 🎸
love the way Guthrie did the drop tuning real badass
Two of my fave guitarists! Telecasters rule!
As the mighty Greg Koch AKA The Gristle use to say, in case of a nuclear disaster, there will be only cockroaches and Telecasters, and hell, we are lucky for that !
Saw Luke play on Broadway. He is a beast
Guthrie: you never cease to amaze me!

10:25 Slinky !!!! & 11:33 WTHGT !!!! Hats off! Awesome playing guys!
that 11:33 drop d was such a baller af move, what a player! GT rules
The back and forths were so good, Luke also kiiiilled it
I have come back to watch and re-watch this video numerous times. Guthrie and Luke are absolute killers on the guitar!!! I love this groove.
Wow. Both. Killers. In every single style you could name.
some really profound stuff there. wow. killer guitar playing and band
OMG absolutely awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love how they seem to play like they are in a dance with the drummer, like musically the guitars and drums flirting with each other. So good.
Gutherie is such a damn pro and so incredibly tasteful in his playing and so thoughtful in his approach.
What a master. Thanks Guthrie. So many guitarists could learn so much from your playing.
There's an amazing interview with Luke on TrueTone Lounge (Zac Childs) where he recounts how he landed in Don Kelley's band in Nashville. He earned his place!
Totally engrossing superb improvisations by Telecaster experts Guthrie Trapp and Luke McQueary, this is really fantastic playing. Hats off!
I’ve been a Guthrie Trapp fan since I first saw him playing with Don Kelly way back, probably early 2000’s or around there. A true guitar master!
Just got my daily dose of Mambo Cheeks. What a band, inspiring, groovy, discovered them only recently. Guthrie is one of the most inspiring musicians nowadays.
Man, so natural and fantastic! Had a little smile at the bass player having mild asthma attack at the 2:50 mark!
Telecaster music. Best dad-blamed thing in the world! 🌍
Excellent as always! Man, I'm digging the sound of that Guitar. When I come to Nashville, Guthrie is the first musician I'm going to see live.
Luke has some great tone! Great job by all. 👌
Just saw Luke at Robert's- so awesome! When can I see these guys together live please?
Guthrie Trapp and friends...Making Nashville great again. Smoking. Should be required viewing before any other music related videos
When it comes to tasty pickin" this is so good my feet are smiling. Whew!
Guthrie one of the best guitar payer. 👍
I could listen to this over and over and over again!

Holy shit Luke got his guitar sounding like a fiddle, and Guthrie got his guitar sounding like a Hawaiian steel at the end there
Guthrie Trapp ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Masterful playing. Love the clean tones.
Yes, at last, a clean guitar tone (Keyboardist here ) !
His feel is incredible....💚🎸
What a night to step through the door and hear this. WOW.
Guthrie is the coolest; his playing speaks for itself! He is Mr Nashville in my humble opinion. 💪🎸
And he is just a young feller! Imagine that in just a few years ! 💯💪🎸
I click on these videos with my guitar in my hand and I play along a little bit. I just put my guitar down.
Class act, Guthrie and friends ...... smooth melodic and relaxing....
That’s a BUNCH of smoking guitar talent right there!
That slur Luke comes in with is filthy!! Jesus, what a jam!!
How can one play that on guitar and not smile the whole time?😊
Un-be-lievable!
GT absolutely killing it.
I love these guys ,period. Good music for any weather.
Couldn’t agree more! So very pleasing to the ears.
Luke your a very smooth player. Wowww
That was amazing. Thank you.
Thanks for capturing this! The best of Nashville strings right here!
Luke is a beast on the Tele. A name to be reckoned with in the future :)
Saw Guthrie guest with Greg Koch at the Blue Room in Nashville ⚡🔥🔥⚡
These guys are so good, just wonderful, original phrasing. Thanks so much for sharing.
Holy Jesus. That was jaw dropping. Just wtf? F@&k me. Trapp is on another level. He is truly one of the greatest to ever play.
Looking after the young bloke even though he knows how to play, and play good too. AWESOME
CHRIST!!!! that was incredible!
Mind boggling amounts of talent. Just incredible
11:30 wtf lick! 🤣 Amazing playing
That's insane! Holy moly!
Makes me want to fly all the way to Nashville just to see y’all, excellent

Beautiful😍
Guthrie Trapp . . . daaaang! (that's Okie style)
BRAVO !!!
Cool video. I enjoyed the “dialogue” of the two trading phrases. Luke is a special talent. He’s gonna be a great one too.
Is that a capital E on the wall or a capital F with a period?
Guthrie and Luke are always surprising me with unbelievable guitar! You can see they both light up the band with their energy1
TST...Taste....Soul.....Technique. When they come together they are incredible forces. Excuse me while I pick my jaw off the floor.
Had to be fun for these guys, swapping riffs and feeling the moment..
I enjoy these live in the moment jams, almost like being there
Two guys having a blast fabulous !
... sounds & feels great!

Guthrie is playing a Danocaster. From what I hear, the set-up and playability are outstanding. "Ask Zac" on TH-cam has an episode on Danocasters.
Thanks so much! I will check them out.@@rfcnyc3253
The keys were awesome.
Beautiful!!!!😍
I watch this once a week now. Appreciate what Luke does, but Guthrie is stunning.
***** that intro was an absolute killer!!!
Luke's reaction was sooo funny hahaha
