Norbert Wiener (feedback control theory, cybernetics, AI) and Claude Shannon (binary logic, information theory, cryptography) probably did more to bring about the information age than anybody else - yet most people have never heard of them. I first read their classic books back in the 1970's, yet this is the first time I'd heard them speak. Amazing.
