  • One of the wackiest endings in the history of Drum Corps International competition, the Velvet Knights' 1992 production reminded audiences that it ain't over until everyone's on the floor in laughter. 😂

    Holy Cow! What a show! I was lucky enough to be in Madison for the whole week and saw this show all three nights. It was fun on Thursday, funny on Friday, and then absolutely electrifyingly hilarious on Saturday. I still laugh to tears every time I hear the fat "lady" sing. The corps sounded better than I had ever heard them (and I lived in SoCal so had seen them a bunch). BTW, props to bass 5 with his comically large, practically concert bass drum with a window cut into the shell so he could see ahead. I've never had such a feeling of oneness with a crowd as during the last moments of this show, and when the shark ate Brunhilda, absolutely everyone just leaped to their feet with joy and appreciation. 2 freakin' Cool VK!!!

      I built that 36" marching bass drum, early in the season VK used 32" bass drum. I used the lug casting from the 32" bass and tension rods, and repainted the new shell in that "green". Pearl sent us a bare shell and black rims.

    The shark was supposed to stop on the 50. but got stuck between the 40 and 45....so let's give it up to the side 1 brass who adjusted on the fly going into the last set...those close to the 45 were supposed to curl in like the side 2 guys, but the shark was in the way.

      @Iliketordles 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheFunguy02 I can see the clothes being thrown up a few seconds before, and I hear the crowd laughing a little as it is happening, but the crowd has a big laugh right at the end right before it cuts to a different view. Maybe it was just a delay with most audience noticing what was going on, but idk. I thought there was something else that happened to make the crowd laugh that much.

      I was on the field marching in this hornline and I don’t even know for sure. The staff would throw in changes left and right and most of the time we didn’t even realize it unless it directly involved us.
