If you rode the T more, you would have eventually noticed the levels of "humanity" those carpet seats been through. The plastic seats are not comfortable, but at least you'll know if its truly clean versus carpets seats where you'll never know if they actually ever power-washed or was just "picked" up the... remnants of certain passengers.

Indeed that is a good point

This is the reason I will always, always prefer a plastic seat over a fabric one. A fabric seat may be more comfortable for my butt, but every other part of me that sees the grime and dirt that cannot be cleaned from them - well, that's a net loss in comfort.
The T's primary goal isn't to make things comfortable, though it's a good thing to strive for. Far, far more important are speed and frequency of trains, reliability of the equipment, safety of passengers (and driver), and ease of cleaning and maintenance. After all that comes aesthetics and feel. Coming from someone who works in a design field and understands the importance of user experience and aesthetic design, I will always push to keep the design from falling off the table when the numbers crunch and we look to VE...but I understand the realities of the situation and compromises have to be made.
It would be nice to have something more comfortable than the plastic, for sure. But at the price point the MBTA set, and given the needs it had, this is what they chose. And I do not fault them for that decision.

Yeah, seats are cleared of any debris, and re-embroidered if necessary, but they’re not cleaned. That was the biggest push for the plastic seats.

i think it would ultimately be better with seating similar to the red cloth the red line 1800s originally had.
btw whose idea was it to take away those seats?! i unfortunately never saw those seats that look pretty nice on video

Oh Nick! to be honest. I really love the exterior and interior design on the 1400s! To the person who thought to make hump lower on the 1400s, I love it so much! As your rail fanning! It makes the shape 20 times better than the 1200s. Great job CRRC! Sorry Nick, I know you don’t like the design on the 1400 but hey I’ll take the 1900s on the red line. And of course! The sounds they produce on both 1400 and 1900! They are the same tone as the 0600 on the blue line!
Also why they out yellow cab ends on the 1400s? It reflects back in the 1960s, they thing that yellow is the best choice for the line! Instead orange is what they chose! I hope this help you! =3

If you think it's bad now, wait until your 40's, when you see all the movies, tv shows, music, art, and vehicles you love either re-imagined into incomprehensibility, or simply tossed onto the scrap heap of history never to be seen again.
    Getting old sucks.

Good review. I do think the reasoning for not doing a proper ride until last week is a bit off, but to each their own. Being one who has ridden them pre-pandemic, during the pandemic, and during whatever this time is, I’ve been underwhelmed by the trains. Seating is poor. The open door chimes are annoying when you are at Forest Hills waiting several minutes for the doors to close. As for the overall look, you are just pining for the old days. In 30 years when they replace these ones, your children will say the same about their replacements.

i honestly have the same opinion as the exterior that they are ugly and they didn't even made it modern enough and my full opinion on the CRRC 1400s are they are not great just bootleg versions of the BART Fleet of the future which are better because the seats are a softer material and you can walk through the whole train with just some doors blocking the way but they can be opened. and yes I agree on the manufacturer which is why I don't like the new coaches being built for AMT EXO(montreal)

OMG.... I really do not like the new seating, the PA system is to loud, and it's bright as hell. Makes it very hard to take a nap on the way and after work!!!

What is the name of the wallpaper from your computor and did you use wallpaper engine?

    • @NickDaltonYT
      @NickDaltonYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I made the wallpaper with a combination of after effects and photoshop. I use Photoshop to create the factors in an after effects animated and then wallpaper engine to use it as a wallpaper

I’m just glad the LED lights on the 1400s kept that warm yellow color the 1200s had
Edit: some college students turned those old colorful seats into legitimate chairs, i think they’re available to buy
