Not sure what I'll be doing next. You guys got any suggestions? I'm in the mood for something different, so either John Maus, Woods of Desolation or The Jesus Lizard.
Man i've just found your channel and it's the best christmas gift ever!. Protomartyr, IDLES, Iceage... You rock man!, keep the videos coming pls xoxox.
If there's a song you'd really love to see on this channel, then you might want to check my Patreon at www.patreon.com/ARCP. For $5 or $7 I'll respectively do a bass or guitar cover (with tabs) for a track of your choice! Otherwise you can support me with as little as $1 and get access to the voting system I intend to implement when there's enough patrons for it to work effectively.
After listening a lot to relatives in descend recently, i really like this Album, every single song actually. I've never listened to simular music, maybe Joy Division, but protomartyr really fascinates me. I hope they will come to germany soon. Maybe you could do Pontiac 87 or dope cloud in the future? :-)
There aren't many bands doing what they do as well as they do it. But yeah, if you'd like some modern post-punk suggestions, check out Idles, Ought, Preoccupations, Iceage, Total Control, Holograms, Lower. Yes, I will be doing older Protomartyr material eventually!
I'll add Parquet Courts to his list too. Definitely check out their albums Light Up Gold and Sunbathing Animal. There's a lot of similarities between them and Protomartyr.
i have gear question. how well does that harley benton bass play? I've been looking at them for a while but i live in America so the access to HB equipment is either rare or nonexistent Thanks for the great lessons, too
For what it cost (€100 ish) it's definitely alright. But the action is pretty high. Even after adjusting the truss rod, I haven't managed to lower it without getting considerable buzz. Some of the parts also developed rust easily, but that's probably my fault. As for the sound, I honestly can't tell you. I've only played cheapo instruments all my life, and they all sound more than fine to me. The bass currently has $3 strings on it, so take that into account when judging the sound. I do think they sound damn good for what they cost though, haha. The only other bass I got to play was a friend's Squier Precision (€200 ish), and I had nothing bad to say about it at the time. Just overall better compared to my HB. In general I wouldn't recommend it unless you're poor and you've got no other choice.

Try IDLES - Brutalism too, it's another god tier post-punk album from this year.
